Chapter 23: I Like Money, Do You Have Any? (Continuation)

Boss Hai hesitated, his eyes filled with unwillingness.

After a moment, he angrily spoke, "Let them go."

"Boss Hai, if we let him go, how do we explain it when we go back?" objected the yellow-haired man.

Gu Qingning sneered, "If you want to go back and explain, you need to have your life first."

Struck at his weak spot, Boss Hai's expression grew even uglier. "I said, let them go."

Reluctantly, the yellow-haired man released his grip.

Scar-faced man quickly ran to Gu Qingning's side, while she held onto Boss Hai, slowly backing away.

She whispered in a low voice, "No one is allowed to follow us, or else if my hand slips, I can't guarantee anything."

Her words made the others stop in their tracks.

Once outside the internet cafe, Gu Qingning swiftly struck at the back of Boss Hai's neck with her hand turned into a blade.

"You..." Boss Hai widened his eyes and collapsed to the ground, his body going limp.

His eyes closed, and he fainted.

Gu Qingning put away the dagger and glanced at the dumbfounded man beside her. "What are you waiting for?"

Scar-faced man snapped back to his senses, seeing Gu Qingning turn and leave, and quickly followed.

In the dilapidated alley, the dim streetlights flickered on and off, creating an eerie atmosphere.

Two figures moved through the alley, one in front and one behind.

Suddenly, the figure in front stopped, and Scarface stopped as well.

Gu Qingning turned around, and a cold gust of wind blew, causing her hat to slip and her long hair to flutter in the wind.

Scarface was stunned. She was actually a woman?

"Tell me, how do you plan to repay me?" Her icy voice struck his ears, and Scar-faced man suddenly came back to his senses.

"I don't want your life," Gu Qingning added.

Scratching his head, Scar-faced man looked embarrassed. "Then how do you want me to repay you?"

Gu Qingning looked composed. "I like money, do you have any?"

Meeting her bright ink-black eyes, Scar-faced man couldn't help but laugh.

He took out his wallet, and inside were a stack of red bills, estimated to be around twenty or thirty.

He took out all the red bills from his wallet and said, "I only have this much on me. How about you leave me your phone number, and I'll transfer it directly to your account later?"

Gu Qingning walked up to him and took half of the stack of red bills.

She said, "No need, this is enough."

Scar-faced man looked bewildered. Was it that simple?

Before he could say anything, Gu Qingning threw the dagger at him. "These bills settle the debt, and we're even."

After saying that, she turned and left, her solitary figure leaving others unable to catch up.

Scar-faced man finally reacted, dragging his heavy feet to catch up. "Wait."

Gu Qingning paused her steps, and her cool gaze swept over him. "Is there something else?"

"Should I leave you my phone number? If you encounter any difficulties in the future, I will do my best to help you," Scar-faced man said.

She saved his life, making her his benefactor.

Gu Qingning raised her hand and pressed down her hat. "No need, I saved you, you give me money, and we're even."

As she walked away, passing by him, her cold voice scattered in the air, carried by the wind. "This place is not suitable for staying long. If you want to survive, leave quickly."

Scar-faced man looked at her receding figure, then lowered his head to look at the dagger in his hand, a trace of ruthlessness glimmering in his eyes.

The heavens wanted him to live, and he wouldn't let anyone who betrayed him off the hook.

...

It was around dawn when Gu Qingning woke up.

She had stayed at a hotel last night, but for some reason, she couldn't fall asleep the entire night. She only managed to doze off for a short while in the early morning.

She sat on the edge of the bed and rubbed her temples, as if trying to dispel her fatigue.

After a while, she stood up and casually picked up her backpack from the end of the bed, preparing to leave.

Today was Monday, and she probably wouldn't make it in time for morning self-study, but she still had to go to class. One High School should be interesting.

After checking out of the hotel, she walked out with a light step.

She bought breakfast across the street and ate it while walking towards the bus stop.

Although it was rush hour again, it was slightly better than yesterday. At least today she managed to get a seat on the bus.

She bit the straw and drank her yogurt absentmindedly.

She flicked the brim of her hat with her finger, and her delicate eyes wandered among the passengers on the bus.

Most of them were office workers and students, and she was quite familiar with the purple and white school uniforms. The emblem on the uniform was something she knew well.

It was from Yi Middle School.

The uniforms of Yi Middle School were different from other schools. They weren't all the same color; each grade had its own unique color.

For example, the first-year students wore purple and white uniforms.

Her school uniform was still at the Gu family's residence, so it might be troublesome to go to school later.
