After taking on the huge Chimera monster and moving its body to Jivs' barn we took turns to eat while some people remained at the wall, first went Captain with Jivs and Metania, later it was Ti'oh and me going towards the Outpost to grab some grub.

When we got there Granny Rir and Nordya were already at the table waiting and Grandpa Doh was at the corner of the room, fixing some spears, so we could use them to throw those at beasts again. We closed the door which made a loud noise, Grandpa left the tongs in the makeshift forge and ran towards the table grinning at us, so we all sat down and had a dinner.

"Did you see that, honey? It was a huge Chimera!" I shouted towards my wife "Can you imagine how much it weight? It is massive! And there were a bunch of hardened scales on its skin, which also was tough as nails to crack."

"Is that so?" She talked with me after I sat down at the table, smiling at my juvenile excitement, but still showed a concerned expression on her face "You took a bunch of hits from those flaming horses, are you sure there is no injury?"

"Yes, my love, there is nothing wrong with me aside from how tired I feel, but it is no big deal, I should still be fine, it is just some skin bruises, got it?" I explained to her, since she is worried about everything since that incident with the Earthen Flame "I don't have any problem, Examination is returning as feedback exactly what I told you."

"Don't worry about my Ta, he may be lazy, but if it is about dodging or parrying problems he is top notch talent, that is for sure." Ti'oh said energetically while beating my back, even when wearing armor it hurts a lot.

"Okay then... I will trust you on this one..." She said while squinting her eyes at me with an icy aura of doubt towards me and Ti'oh too for some reason, yup, she sure is hard headed worrywart, that is for sure.

"But what really helped today was that stinger cut you did at exactly the time it tried to pull itself away from the ground, it unbalanced it just enough." Grandpa Doh battle analysis is at a scary level, to see what I did there from this distance to the battlefield.

"Yes, he has a scary battle sense towards himself." Squinting also at me, Granny replied towards Grandpa comment. Definitely can't tell I got used from the extensive Martial Arts training in the army coupled with me playing a lot of Dank Souls, definitely can't say it was video games.

"Hahahaha... Must be my luck to be this perceptive." I said bullshitting my way through this conversation, while my wife started giggling from the relaxed tone we had at the table.

We continued to eat, sadly this homely feel wouldn't last for long, because me and Ti'oh still had to take our shifts through the night.

We had to make sure there wouldn't be any sneaky sneak beast trying to bulldoze our lovely village down while we were asleep, but for some reason the attacks, thanks the Seven, never came to be while me and Ti'oh were on our shift to watch over the safety of our villagers.

After the passing of this uneventful night, with much restless sleep, a new day rises and back to our watch all of the Warriors went to get breakfast and taking turns for extended resting periods for everyone and to not spend all of our forces.

While me and Ti'oh were on watch I made some small talk.

"It feels as if this going on forever, this watch... Do Stampedes take a long time or is it a short thing" I asked curious about what was happening.

"I heard it could take one day, which is brutal, since everything comes our way at once or it could take a whole month, four weeks long, twenty eight days. Just to make sure you understand how much time it could take" he looked at me with the corner of his eye, before shifting his gaze towards the village outskirts "I understand this watch is not the most amazing or entertaining job in the world, but it is crucial for such a small community to survive" Ti'oh said "We should be thankful there wasn't a full-blown Stampede already."

"Ti'oh, you are going to jinx it... And no, I don't think this is a boring and unimportant job, it is just... It has been so long doing this sentinel job again... The last time I did it was years ago, on a way bigger place than this is, with many more people around, but to be fair, I would rather do it here than where I was all that time ago" I said while keeping my gaze at the river and the northern part of the village "It is just a bad habit to make small talk with whoever is with me at the post."

It really does bring back the Officers Formation School, those days wearing a uniform with boots, going around in circles inside the Barracks, yeah... It really nostalgic how I don't miss any of this, exactly how I felt years ago. Yup, hope something happens already, I want to learn more and progress on the training.

"Ti'oh, there is something I have been wanting to ask." I said.

"Sure, tell me about it." He answered while still on watch duty.

"I understand that the Gods' Eye is an Divinity Power from the Gods bestowed on the Church, right?" I ask and he nods in confirmation "And there is Blessings and Skills and Spells, so is there any ability that has a similar effect to the appraisal from Gods' Eye, but in a more portable way?"

"Hm... From the little I know about this world it is possible for one to earn such abilities if one is a God Apostle and earn that Divine Grace, but aside from such way, I don't think I have ever saw all Skills or Spells so there could definitely be one that gives a similar way to obtain that information, but most people learn to estimate by experience."

"Estimate by experience? What does that even mean?" I asked confused.

"It means to experience so much of the world and its people that you can gauge that person or beast level, just by looking at their behavior and movements, since different people in similar levels have the same habits and posture, if that make sense to you, they have some kind of air about how they go." Ti'oh explained better what he meant.

"But this means someone can lie to me according to their posture and mannerisms about their level too, right?" I asked about it to him.

"Then you just have to be better and stronger to win, besides such way of acting is also a skill, meaning it could be a boon from their Profession, which is also part of their strength." He said with a deal with it as it comes expression.

"Speaking of which, being high grade and leveled in a Profession brings any sort of benefits, aside from the stats?" I asked curious.

"Yes, it does it makes you more apt to do any action involving that profession, even if you never had done it beforehand, meaning a Veteran grade Warrior which used spear his whole life will be proficient as soon as he touches a sword in sword combat, of course not as someone in the same grade as someone who used the weapon in the same grade, but enough to beat someone of a lower tier." he explained to me.

"That really is amazing, indeed." I answered, thinking about the answer I just received.

"Just don't think too much about it, concentrate on this watch, you will have time to learn this better latter." he warned me out of my distracted thoughts "Since I think we have some company in the North, go sound the bells, it is defense time."

He went and dashed towards the scaffolds close to Ms. Agnes house, on the wall we built there, I warned everyone on the Outpost by shouting while running towards the Church, going inside and pulling the rope to sound the bell and ran further north, close to where Ti'oh was waiting.

One minute later everybody where in position, just in time to see a bunch of Red Mane Vipers coming in our direction.

"Be careful with the poison it shoots out of its body, if touches any of your skin it will be absorbed and it is lethal in high doses, fight them from a distance." Elder Brontus warned us.

So for now we are staying up the walls no matter what happens, we started by throwing spears at them and, after the second volley of spears, we just stabbed whichever got closer to the wall, we would stab it, pull it and kick the body inside the wall, for some reason they weren't shooting at us, but when the first to climb and get really close to Jivs it shot a mouthful of poison at him, which he promptly ducked to avoid the high speed poison, being hit by Elder Brontus after that.

"They are breaching!" Jivs shouted, so I peaked with Ki and used the Presas de Lycanrir and created a polearm from the spear and swung like a scythe, reaping the Vipers quickly, I would kill about five with each swing, while also making them fall inside the wall, since I didn't want to lose any materials from the extra amount of stomping that would happen, Ti'oh was dual wielding two spears and doing the same in high speed while traversing the scaffolds we made.

There is a lot of these things here and still coming, suddenly there is a weird noise coming from the trees, with cracking of trunks and rustling of leaves, as if breathing, so after I swung my polearm Ki spear-spike I raised my head and saw trees infested with Red Maned Vipers walking towards us, they hade pink leaves and giant red ghastly eye floating over its trunk, seemed like a Treant, but it should be a race and not a beast.

"We have Vagrant Trees incoming with their usual parasites in toll, get ready to go down and chop some trees before they reach the village! Amatiron we are counting on you, grab your heavy sword and get to chop!" Elder Brontus screamed at me, aye, aye, sir!

I threw the spear at one of these damned vipers close to Metania, pulled my shield and sword, the new kite shield I had made could cover my whole upper body and since I was wearing thicker pants there wouldn't be a problem if the venom jets came from under the shield, but as a measure of precaution I will need to use Eruption technique all over my body to keep it from touching my skin.

"At my command! Get set! Go!" Elder Brontus shouted in succession at everyone.

I got ready and jumped down the scaffolds stomping two smaller Red Maned Vipers and went towards the Vagrant Trees, while cutting my way through, if my count was right, there would be about ten of these close to the village now, so it is better I start my woodcutting work done right away.

The first I approach is the the one at the front, closest to where I was, there is a heavy barrage of flying venom spits, but thanks to my trusty shield they were all warded off. As soon as I get close the ghastly eye look at me, but the tree just kept going straight, it probably is dumb or something, since it didn't do anything, not even hurt me by dropping its trunk, well, good for me I guess?

Since I didn't want to waste any more Ki, I used the Ki Gathering hammer strike with an inclination of forty five degrees oblique to the trunk, making my blade go a little bit more past the half of the center, I kept using it and hit it at one hundred and thirty five degrees with a upwards slash using the same technique, hitting again at the center of the trunk, which I promptly kicked the almost retangular block of wood off the Vagrant Tree and it snapped under its own weight.

"Timber!" I shouted out of habit and ran towards the next one while keeping my shield up all the time, the ghastly eye looked terrified for some reason and the Vipers atop it all got squashed with its fall.

Now all of the ghastly eyes were on me, looking at their worst enemy has come, do they now I have woodcutting or something?

Nevermind that I went straight for the second one, which was the closest to me, this time the tree stopped and its roots went into the ground, but I wouldn't let it go just like that, I stroke at it, just once, before I noticed the earth rumbling in a weird way in my direction, damn do they need to do this now?

Its roots came piercing from below the earth with a spear strike that would have impaled me lest I gave up my position, which I did as a matter of fact.

Well, the only way to deal with this problem was by cutting at it, so I kept doing my cutting first I did cut the roots that had a go at me while approaching the Vagrant Tree and ran towards it while readying the Ki Gathering strike, finishing it surprisingly with one cut through, thanks to the momentum I had.

Yup, suicidal tactics seen to work wonders, so let's go with those, but first I kick the trunk to make it fall, as I do so I notice the eyes from this tree going upwards and disappearing, this is a really weird tree.

So I kept doing the same tactic of running in readying the Ki Gathering strike with each and every single one of them, while being peltered by venom spits and impaling roots, thank God the roots are really telegraphed so I can easily dodge them, since the trees didn't seem to notice the effect of using feints yet.

After cutting the tenth one, I ran as fast as I could towards the wall while holding my shield held at the height of my c.h.e.s.t, I really needed some manteinance since it was all murky from the excess of poison they threw at me.

"Need manteinance on my equipment! Danger of being poisoned inbound!" I shouted towards them, lucky for me there wasn't any more trees coming for now, so I went towards the Outpost to get my equipment changed, my shield was gross and my pants had stained patches from the poison spits, luckily my Ki didn't run out while I finished the Vagrant Trees out there.

I hope nothing happens while I am not there...
