Chapter 177 Leo’s “Sorcery”

TL: Kyous

The small conference room Fury and the others were in just now was located on the first floor. Right now, they reached Triskelion’s main lobby as they walked and talked. By now, the air raid sirens in the city began abruptly blaring.

Various radio stations and TV channels in Washington simultaneously repeatedly announced the air raid alert, highlighting all the entrances of the air raid shelter. And there were eleven minutes before the missiles reached their destination.

On the street, in the residential zone, or in the park…

Whether it was busy workers or those on vacation, everyone was following the announcement’s instructions and officers’ guidance, evacuating to the nearest air raid shelter. But despite this, the city was in chaos as traffic accidents and stampedes occurred occasionally which slowed down the process of evacuating.

However, the agents in Triskelion were trained to evacuate into the shelter in an orderly manner based on their respective positions. Steadily and systematically.

If one was familiar with S.H.I.E.L.D.’s structure, for example, Natasha, they could see the number of agents evacuating into the shelter was lesser than the number there should be.

General Ross’s two bodyguards were standing by in the lobby. When they saw General Ross, they immediately came forward.

One of the bodyguards said, “General, we…”

“Both of you follow me downstairs, let’s enter the shelter first.” General Ross interrupted his guards and headed towards the staircases while the others followed too.

Then, Fury approached General Ross and without minding the others, he directly requested, “General, can you help me get the simulated flight path of the missile that’s aiming at New York?”

Confused, General Ross looked at Fury and Fury gave an “I have a way” gaze in return. Although General Ross trusted his former subordinate, he didn’t believe Fury had a way to intercept the missile.

General Ross asked right away, “What plan do you have?”

But Fury couldn’t mention Leo, so he patronizingly answered, “General, you don’t have to know my plan. Just tell me, when have I let you down?”

Fury spoke as they walked while disregarding everyone’s startled gaze.

“Then what about the two flying at Washington?” General Ross raised his brow.

“There’s nothing I can do about that.” Fury shrugged.

Frowning, General Ross still pulled out his phone and made the call.

In fact, Leo was still in his tiny form and secretly following them. Right now, he saw General Ross pulling out the phone and he flew to General Ross’s head, hiding in the hair. So, he could audibly hear the conversation on the phone. The phone reported several sets of coordinates and a series of azimuths which were the real-time coordinate and the direction of the missile heading to New York. He had several ICBM blueprints in his system, so understanding these coordinates was a piece of cake.

The next moment, he shifted his direction. Silently approaching Fury’s waist, he softly kicked Fury’s thigh.

Feeling a stinging pain, Fury yelped and bent down, caressing his thigh. Using this opening, Leo hopped onto Fury’s ear and whispered, “Fury, I already know the coordinates. Remember not to reveal my identity, or else. Heh…”

The final “heh” was emphasized, causing Fury’s ear itchy and he uncontrollably picked his ear.

Hopping off from Fury’s ear, Leo flew to the staircase and entered the hall. The hall at the moment was void of people. As he instantly boosted his speed, he passed through Triskelion’s main entrance and blasted into the sky, leaving a shrill sonic boom behind. The two entrance guards were in the last batch of evacuation and they were still in their posts currently. Startled by the odd noise, they stared at each other in confusion.

Still remaining at the staircase, Fury’s heart was filled with apprehension and shock. Just this morning, Leo made the dead Sinthea rush through the sky by itself. And now, from some unknown places and distances, and using some unknown methods, Leo’s voice was sent to his ear and even hit him. He was overwhelmed by Leo’s mysterious and unpredictable methods!

“Sorcery! This must be sorcery! Or it’s witchcraft! Leo is an Asian, maybe the country he’s from some mysterious country and inherited the legacy of sorcery or witchcraft!” Except that, Fury couldn’t think of any other explanation. He internally commended his fortune of not becoming Leo’s enemy.

“Colonel Fury, what are you doing?!” Seeing Fury’s unsightly act of abruptly bending over and picking the ear, General Ross’s voice adopted an oppressive and superior tone.

“I’ve given you the missile’s flight path! Hurry up and use whatever method you have and deal with the missile flying towards New York!” General Ross swiftly gave a series of coordinates before adding, “Colonel Fury, I hope this time you won’t let me down too.”

Fury was distressed as he originally intended to call Leo and gave Leo the missile’s position. At least, it would be an acceptable explanation for General Ross. But after Leo’s warning, this phone call was evidently not going to work. So, now what excuse should he use to bluff his way?

Under the group’s puzzled gaze, Fury rubbed his leg again before stiffly shutting his eyes.

Three seconds later.

Abruptly snapping his eyes open, Fury firmly declared, “Done! I’ve dispatched someone to deal with the missile. It will be dealt with a few moments later, so please wait for the good news.”

“Fury! Stop bulls*tting! Are you messing with us?!” General Ross didn’t buy it and snarled, “How exactly did you dispatch someone and who did you dispatch? Give me an explanation!”

Fury smirked, “It’s sorcery!”

At that moment, the group reached the air raid shelter’s entrance, and under others’ dumbfounded expressions, Fury scurried into the shelter. If he didn’t escape now, he would be scolded and beaten.

Simultaneously, he silently prayed, “Oh mysterious Leo! You must deal with that missile aiming at New York!”

Otherwise, he would be chewed into pieces by General Ross.

The group was still staring at each other, perplexed as to why Fury suddenly went mad. General Ross, with an unpleasant expression, stomped his foot and lead the others into the shelter.

Currently, the time before the missiles hit their target was nine minutes.

This air raid shelter was specifically built by S.H.I.E.L.D. with a single purpose in mind. Compared to other shelters, there were weapons, wireless transceivers, radios, and other military equipment, in addition to various kinds of emergency supplies. There were even cable TVs in here and regardless of which channel they were playing, they were cycling air raid warnings.

Meanwhile, Peggy, General Ross, and others entered the shelter and were standing in a spacious room in the shelter while “interrogating” Fury. But Fury played dumb by occasionally saying he cast sorceries or it was just he spouting nonsense. Anyway, he just mentioned he was able to deal with the missile and didn’t explain any further.

This resulted in General Ross fuming and stating he was going to cut ties with Fury and would not help Fury in any way regardless of matters.

Just as the trio was in a heap of mess, Natasha silently approached and said in a low voice, “I don’t know if you have noticed this, but the agents in the shelter are twenty percent lesser than usual. By rights, they still should be in the HQ right now.”
