“Have they gone mad?! Why are they waiting for death instead of evacuating?! There are flying missiles on our heads, once they strike, everything within a three-mile radius will be leveled to the ground!” General Ross was still fuming and his tone was intense.

“They are not waiting for death, maybe they are running for their lives…” The calmer Peggy suddenly thought of something.

In reality, the disappeared SHIELD agents were the ones who sent messages to Simpson in a panic. They didn’t trust Pierce anymore, so after sending the message to Simpson, they hid and escaped to God knows where!

However, they couldn’t have imagined Dr. Zola would fire missiles at S.H.I.E.L.D. And those who hadn’t fled too far heard the air raid sirens probably were hiding in one of the air raid shelters in Washington. 

And Peggy’s words just now implied the disappeared S.H.I.E.L.D. agents were spies from H.Y.D.R.A. But she couldn’t believe her speculation as it was outrageous to think twenty percent of S.H.I.E.L.D. was H.Y.D.R.A.!

General Ross also calmed down for a bit and picked up Peggy’s meaning. Twenty percent of the people could be traitors, how horrifying! His two bodyguards were smart people as well and they instantly leaned towards his side with vigilance in their eyes.

Since twenty percent of S.H.I.E.L.D. was dubious, it wasn’t unbelievable if there was more! Perhaps there were already a considerable amount of fishy people in the shelter!

The atmosphere in the shelter abruptly turned silent and heavy. At that moment, the TVs that were playing air raid alerts suddenly showed static as though the signal went bad. Concurrently, every radio also stopped broadcasting the alerts and started crackling instead. These sudden changes caught the people in the shelter’s attention.

After five seconds, the static on the TVs disappeared and was replaced by an old man in glasses.

The old man smiled as his voice played out from every radio, echoing in the shelter, “Hmm, greetings everyone. I am Dr. Zola, the lead scientist of the H.Y.D.R.A. organization.”

Right now, not just in this small shelter, but also the entire of Washington, the entire of New York City, and even the whole United States. If the screens were connected to the Internet, Dr. Zola’s face was displayed on them. And if the radios were connected to the Internet, Dr. Zola’s voice was echoing from them.

For an instant, the entire United States was in an uproar.

Dr. Zola cleared his throat and elegantly tidied the tie on his chest before stating, “Perhaps you may be curious or even find it unbelievable. With a smile on his face, Dr. Zola seemed kind but the words he uttered were bone-chilling.

Meanwhile, numerous cyber security companies were drafted by the U.S. government to eliminate the “special virus”, Dr. Zola together. But after their painstaking efforts, they realized they were powerless against the “special virus” except for physically cutting off the connection.

Concurrently, Dr. Zola was continuing his speech, “Today is a very special day. The blinded U.S. citizens, you finally learned H.Y.D.R.A.’s shrouded existence. Therefore, as a greeting gift, I’ve prepared… three H.Y.D.R.A. missiles for you!”

Abruptly, Dr. Zola raised his arms high in excessive excitement with glistening eyes. He declared, “Well? Are you surprised?! Of these three missiles, one is heading toward the White Palace, and another is heading to S.H.I.E.L.D.’s Washington HQ. In roughly…”

He suddenly lowered his head and looked at his wrist, “Seven minutes and thirty-five seconds, they will explode! I believe our friends in Washington have received the air raid alert and currently are busy fleeing. So, they probably don’t have the time to listen to my ranting.”

All of a sudden, the TV display was split into three. In the middle was Dr. Zola and a black male and a white male’s face simultaneously appeared on both sides.

Pointing to his right, Dr. Zola said, “This is Alexander Pierce, the current Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. He is a member of H.Y.D.R.A. and holds a high position. However, he decided to turn his back on H.Y.D.R.A. now and tried to turn a new leaf by becoming a double agent, I will publish Mr. Pierce’s personal information. I believe many of you will be interested in it.”

Then, Pierce’s face vanished from the display and was replaced by rows of sentences that were Pierce’s biographical information.

Pointing to his left, Dr. Zola said again, “And this is Nick Fury, a high-level agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. He, too, is a member of H.Y.D.R.A. He and Mr, Pierce were the same as they turned their back on H.Y.D.R.A. together. Therefore, I’ll be publishing Mr. Fury’s evil deeds.”

Fury’s face vanished from the display too and rows of sentences began popping up.

Dr. Zola raised his arms high and announced, “They are the betrayers that caused me to decide to launch two missiles at Washington. Do remember their faces as they used to brutalize innocents and carry countless evil deeds. Although they are fighting to clear their sins, are you willing to live with such people in the same country? Can your safety be guaranteed?”

Currently, General Ross, Peggy, and the others who were residing in the shelter wore an evershifting expressions. General Ross’s two bodyguards even pulled out their guns. They initially suspected H.Y.D.R.A.’s spies were lurking among the S.H.I.E.L.D., but never once did they suspect Pierce and Fury.

Peggy recognized Dr. Zola and the series of information seemed logical, detailed, and authentic. However, Sinthea was killed by Pierce and Fury together. How should that be explained?! Her mind was in a heap of mess and unable to judge which was the truth. So, she stood next to General Ross while being vigilant.

Natasha knew the truth and instantly understood it was a plan of Dr. Zola to take revenge on Pierce and Fury while tarnishing Fury’s status. Thus, she stood by Fury, preparing for a possible battle and protecting Fury.

Frankly speaking, in Fury and Leo’s original plan, they had expected H.Y.D.R.A. would retaliate against Fury. But what they didn’t expect was that the retaliation came as fast as lightning.

Dr. Zola knew that launching the missiles would only level some buildings and at most killed some civilians. The people he wanted to revenge on were hiding in the shelter would be fine. Hence, using this opportunity, he incited the general public’s anger through the Internet. By then, it was out of the question for Fury to clear up his name.

In the meantime, the two individuals concerned chose to remain silent, quietly standing without attempting to defend themselves.

Despite the atmosphere in the shelter tensing up, Dr. Zola was still speaking, “Naturally, there are still a lot of people who contributed to this gift besides the two of them. Dr. Zola broke into crazed laughter but carried hints of sadness. He added, “Next, I’ll be introducing another HYDRA member and his name is Le-”

But before he could finish announcing Leo’s name, every display turned into static and every radio was left with nothing but crackling noises. This made everyone who cocked up their ears bewildered.

In cyberspace, a crispy voice excitedly sounded, “Buzz! Steam caught you!”
