Chapter 176 I Can Only Stop One

TL: Kyous

Leo had already flown to the corner of the wall while silently praising the keen senses of a Super Soldier! He had been laying on Fury’s head for quite a while and hadn’t been noticed, yet hiding on Natasha’s head for less than ten minutes, he was almost caught.

He scolded himself that next time he should be cautious and not hide in places where he shouldn’t be hiding. As for which places could and couldn’t be hidden, he already had some vague ideas.

Right now, Steam didn’t receive Leo’s reply and urged, “Buzz! Buzz! Buzz! Master, are you listening to Steam?”

“Yes, yes.” Leo hurriedly replied, “Steam, tell me the details.”

“Buzz! Affirmative! Based on your instruction, I’ve been searching for Zola’s traces on the Internet. And just a moment ago, Steam found him!” Steam’s voice suddenly became excited.

He hastily asked, “Where’s Zola? Can you pinpoint his location in the real world?”

Steam abruptly sounded slightly disappointed, “Buzz! Not yet! Zola is scurrying on the net extremely fast right now. And he traveled all over the country. I’ve been chasing him for quite a while but still can’t catch him. How tiring!”

But Steam slightly increased its voice and added, “But he spends the most time in Washington and New York and the frequency of visits is high.”

‘Washington?! New York?!’ These two places’ names shook Leo’s heart. His guts told him something bad was going to happen.

Meanwhile, in the conference room, a sharp ringing sound reverberated from General Ross. He hastily took out the military mobile phone and placed it on his ear.

From afar, Leo saw the brows on General Ross’s mountainous face bulging up to towering peaks. Hence, he promptly instructed Steam, “Steam, continue tracking Zola’s location. Remember, once you catch up with him, stop him immediately. Whatever he’s doing is not a good thing. You must do your best to stop him.”

“Buzz! Affirmative, master!” Then, Steam hung up before entering the cyber world in the lab.

At the same time, General Ross placed down his phone. Abruptly, he stood up and urgently declared, “Everyone, hurry up and follow me. Let’s leave here first.”

Without regarding the others, he hastily exited the room.

Peggy immediately stood up and followed, “General Ross, what happened? Why are you leaving in such a hurry? And you don’t look well.”

The others also followed as General Ross solemnly explained, “I was informed by the army that they just detected three ICBMs launched at the same time near the western border of Montana. One of them is heading to New York and the other two are heading to Washington. And we are within the strike zone. Currently, the missiles have been flying for a minute and around thirteen minutes later, they will reach their destinations. The military is trying to intercept them, but… the chance of succeeding is low.”

General Ross spoke quickly without stopping his pace. As long as one was a military general, then they would receive firsthand news about a large-scale attack like this. Not to mention, he was within the strike zone of the missiles.

He added, “So, hurry up and evacuate with me. Two of my guards are still waiting on the first floor. Let’s rendezvous with them, then get into the nearest air raid shelter. By the way, if I’m not mistaken, the air raid shelter’s entrance is underneath this building, right?”

Pierce hurriedly answered, “Yes. Level B1 has an entrance, directly connected to S.H.I.E.L.D.’s air raid shelter. All of you can go there and take shelter first. General Ross, Director Carter, please go first. I’ll trigger the emergency alarm first, alerting the other agents before joining you at the shelter.”

Pierce wanted to leave them for quite some time but was unable to find any excuse to. Now he hurriedly found a lame excuse and prepared to bolt.

However, General Ross stopped him, “Director Pierce, there’s no need for you to go through such a hassle! Our military isn’t for nothing, they won’t abandon any of the good U.S. citizens. At most a minute, the entire air raid alarm in Washington and New York will be sounded. So, follow us.”

Hearing this, Pierce squeezed a smile and followed them.

Currently, Peggy’s brows were scrunched up hard. She walked as she asked General Ross, “Do we know who fired the missiles?”

“Not sure. But our guess is H.Y.D.R.A. is likely the one who launched them.”

Knitting what he knew together, General Ross whispered his deduction, “And personally, I think H.Y.D.R.A. launched the missiles to avenge the death of their leader. Sinthea happened to be killed in New York and right now, she was lying in this building. The missiles just so happened to be aimed at these places. It’s too much of a coincidence.”

“But we only learned the news of Sinthea’s death just two hours ago…” Peggy suddenly shut up as she swiftly realized General Ross’s underlying meaning. This meant there were H.Y.D.R.A.’s spies within S.H.I.E.L.D.!

Nonetheless, the current situation was urgent and it wasn’t the time to hunt down the spies/ While walking, Peggy took out her phone and made a call.

Simultaneously, Fury at the back secretly slowed down his pace and made a call as well.

The call was answered after two toots. Covering her mouth with her hand, Peggy whispered, “Hank, it’s Peggy. Listen to me, I need a favor. Three missiles are launched from Montana’s western border and they are aiming at Washington and New York. Do you have any ways to stop it? Just like… just like eight years ago.”

The other side of the call remained silent for a bit before Hank Pym’s voice came back, “Peggy, I’m in San Francisco right now. I’m not a god, it’s too far and I can’t make it on time. Also… never mind. Anyway, I’d love to help but there’s nothing I can do.”

Dr. Pym sounded exhausted. Ever since the robbery of the Ant-Man suit, his sleep quality had constantly plummeted. These past two days he was out of his state and couldn’t carry out his work. He even felt it was time to find an assistant to help him.

Peggy stopped persuading and silently hung up the phone. That was all she could do and the rest was up to the military.

Concurrently, Fury’s call went through. Before Fury could say opened his mouth, Leo stated, “Fury, tell me the trajectory of the missile that’s aiming at New York. I’ll do whatever I can to do it.”

Leo had guessed the missile flying towards New York was a hundred percent aiming at his El Building. So, this missile must be stopped. He didn’t wish to spend another several months rebuilding the Arc Reactor. And he also didn’t wish for the El Tech Company he painstakingly created to be demolished.

Fury hastily whispered, “What about the two flying at Washington?”

“I’m not a god! It’s good enough that I can stop the one flying towards New York yet you still want me to stop the others?! Go and hide in the shelter first!”

The missiles are as fast as lightning, reaching an average speed of about 4 miles per second. When Leo shrunk into an ant-sized and under Anti-gravity Pulse Blasters’ full output, his speed was slightly faster. On top of that, decelerating would take some time to avoid overloading his body.

It was good enough he was confident in stopping the missile that was aiming at New York. As for the two aiming at Washington… Who cares? Between your burning house and a neighbor’s burning house, only an idiot won’t save his house.

Hearing Leo’s answer, Fury knew he was making it hard for the others, so he replied, “Hold on for a sec, I’ll send the coordinate to you right now.”
