Chapter 174 H.Y.D.R.A. Missile

TL: Kyous

Simpson’s shout at the lab’s entrance was tearful and shocking. But his words made Dr. Zola and Helmut shudder. Nevertheless, they were more in disbelief instead.

Right now, Simpson had approached Dr. Zola and repeated, “Dr. Zola, bad news! Leader Sinthea is dead! Alexander Pierce betrayed us. He and Nick Fury ordered the Black Widow to kill the leader.”

The old man on Dr. Zola’s chest scowled angrily, “Simpson, what are you babbling about?! Are you cursing Miss Sinthea?!”

Stunned by Dr. Zola’s loud scolding, Simpson snapped out of it and bitterly explained, “Dr. Zola, even if I have ten pairs of balls of steel, I wouldn’t make up such a thing. What I said is real. Numerous spies in S.H.I.E.L.D. sent this news and there were photos of the leader’s body as well. And the safety codes they provided match their identities. So, what they said is the truth. I’m not making this up.”

However, Dr. Zola was still in disbelief or more accurately, unwilling to believe. Thus, he attempted to search for other excuses to convince himself, “Simpson, just a couple of days ago you said Miss Sinthea was in New York! Look at the time, she should be calling the base tomorrow. I still have some important matters to report to her! How can she be dead?! How can she die?!”

Simpson’s bitter face further contorted as he cried, “I also have no idea at all!”

Regardless of what Dr. Zola was thinking or how unwilling he was, he ultimately still followed Simpson to Simpson’s office.

In front of a dozen computers flashing with various messages and images, a robot was swiftly browsing through the information it received. Again and again, the robot verified the information. Ultimately, it stood up.

The old man on the robot’s chest closed his eyes in hopelessness.

“Argh! ARGHHHHH!!! Why?! Why did this happen?! S*IT! F*CK! S*IT! F*CK!” Dr. Zola finally broke down as his curses burst out nonstop and his robotic legs smashed the wooden chair he was sitting on. He vented out for a full two minutes before stopping.

Then, Simpson hurriedly asked, “Dr. Zola, what should we do now?”

“Do what?” It seemed Dr. Zola’s reasons hadn’t recovered.

Simpson fully understood Dr. Zola’s current emotional state since when he confirmed the news of the leader’s death, his reactions didn’t differ much from Dr. Zola’s. The mess on his office desk was proof of it. At the very least, he had vented out and was able to calmly consider the more pressing issues.

Patiently, he explained, “The spies in S.H.I.E.L.D. have sent the messages to the base and some of them didn’t even encrypt the channel due to anxiousness. Our location will be exposed soon. So, what should we do for our next move, Dr. Zola? Do we evacuate first or…”

In fact, besides evacuating, Simpson couldn’t think of a better plan in his mind.

When Dr. Zola heard Simpson’s question, he calmed down as well. But the calmed down Dr. Zola was scarier and the decision he would make was even crazier. Slightly contemplating, he coldly asked, “Chief Simpson, how many H.Y.D.R.A. missiles do we have right now?”

Ever since Sinthea left the base, Dr. Zola learned from his previous mistake of being unable to retaliate for the destruction of the bases. He took the lead in restarting the project H.Y.D.R.A. missile for paying back the favor, a tooth for a tooth!

Understanding Dr. Zola’s underlying meaning, Simpson subconsciously persuaded, “Dr. Zola, judging from our state of the base, once we decided to launch the missile, there won’t be any places for us in the U.S. anymore! Remember what happened eight years ago…”

“Silent!” Dr. Zola interrupted Simpson and reprimanded him, “I’m asking you a question, so answer it!”

He continued in anger, “Miss Sinthea is dead already! If we still don’t retaliate, is there any reason for H.Y.D.R.A. to exist?!”

Simpson’s mouth was agape before depressingly answering, “Due to the financial and time constraint, we only have three H.Y.D.R.A. missiles at the moment.”

After finishing the sentence, Simpson was deflated as his heart was wretched. Eight years ago, they launched a missile to flaunt their power. For some unknown reason, the missile crashed but the U.S. government began carpet searching for a year like a rabid dog.

During that period, many of the H.Y.D.R.A. bases were discovered and clashes of various sizes occurred between them and the U.S. military, ending with a fatal loss on both sides. However, H.Y.D.R.A. at that period was well-established in the U.S. and was able to contend with the U.S. government. Yet the current H.Y.D.R.A. only had a thousand remnants.

If they were to fire another three missiles right now, there would be no place for them in the U.S. anymore.

Dr. Zola also understood the consequences of doing this. He started contemplating and it took five minutes before having a countermeasure. He instructed, “Chief Simpson, immediately notify the entire base to pack up and evacuate separately. Stop thinking about staying in the U.S. and immediately think of a way to escape overseas. Find the H.Y.D.R.A.s that scattered across the world and slowly redeveloped. Before leaving, set the destination of the three H.Y.D.R.A. missiles. One at Triskelion in Washington, another at the White Palace, and the final one at New York!”

The current Dr. Zola had recovered his rationale. A few days ago, he had learned from Steam’s video feeds that El Tech Company not only had Leo Erwin and the Winter Soldier, but he also saw Black Widow in those video feeds. And Black Widow had remained in El Tech Company for quite a while.

On top of that, Miss Sinthea was in New York during that time and based on the news from the spies, Black Widow was the murderer of Sinthea. Therefore, Dr. Zola concluded that the death of Sinthea was related to Leo for sure. Hence, the final missile aimed at New York was targeting El Tech Company.

Receiving the instructions, Simpson stopped hesitating and began his arrangements. Their time was limited and every second was precious.

An hour later, everyone in the base learned the truth. After experiencing a huge emotional shift, they began packing up their stuff and leaving. Grouping into a group of ten, they were prepared to leave for H.Y.D.R.A. bases located overseas. As for the probability of succeeding, that would depend on their capability.

However, not everyone in the base left. Simpson and Dr. Zola had yet to leave.

At the moment, in Dr. Zola’s lab, Simpson said, “Dr. Zola, the location of the missile has been set. They will launch automatically an hour later and by then, our base location will be revealed. The car is ready. We are the last batch, let’s hurry and retreat.”

But Dr. Zola abruptly replied, “I’m not leaving with you.”

Simpson’s face turned pale, “Dr. Zola, everything has been arranged. It’s pointless if you stayed behind! Besides, we still need your leadership!”

The young assistant, Helmut, at the side also persuaded, “Doctor, let’s leave together.”

The old man on Dr. Zola’s chest smiled and told them a baffling secret, “Chief Simpson, Helmut, you don’t have to worry about me. My form of existence is completely different from yours. You may be unaware, but my consciousness had been uploaded to the network. I’m immortal.”

Looking at the stupefied duo, he continued, “Therefore, I’ll synchronize my consciousness to the network through the sleeping device in a while. Then, I’ll give those betrayers a big present. All you need to do is disassemble my body and place it on the car, then reassemble me in the new base. After that, I’ll return.”

Listening to this, Simpson and Helmut were at ease. Raising their arms high, they shouted, “Hail Hydra!”

The old man on Dr. Zola’s chest and his robotic body also saluted back with the comical act.
