Chapter 173 Dr. Zola, Bad News!

TL: Kyous

Once Peggy finished the sentence, Pierce immediately felt his heart sink into despair!

At the moment, at least half of the S.H.I.E.L.D. members in the lobby were part of H.Y.D.R.A. This group of people was loyal to Pierce but they were even more loyal to Sinthea and Dr. Zola.

So when the ex-Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. announced Pierce’s involvement in the mission of eliminating Sinthea and coupled with Fury destroying most of H.Y.D.R.A. bases in the country a year ago, Pierce couldn’t even wash clean himself even if he dived into the Mississippi River.

And currently, when the H.Y.D.R.A. members heard the ex-Director declaring Director Pierce and Agent Fury collaborated to defeat Sinthea, they were having a rollercoaster of emotions.

First was disbelief, then was exasperation, and finally was skepticism as if the whole world was fake. As an example, the people of the surroundings a moment ago were people they could entrust their back to but now they were surrounded by jackals and hyenas all of a sudden. Even Pierce the leader of the snake could betray the organization, then which of those present couldn’t betray?!

Every H.Y.D.R.A. member right now was unsettled and they desired to leave this horrendous area to take a chill pill. The only reason they weren’t leaving right now was that they were hoping the body lying underneath the white sheet wasn’t Sinthea Schmidt. Some of them even thought everything was a conspiracy came up by Fury. It was impossible for their leader Sinthea to die!

The temperament of the military was decisive and General Ross didn’t care about the internal affairs of S.H.I.E.L.D. All he wanted to know was whether or not the H.Y.D.R.A. leader Sinthea was truly dead. Thus, he strode towards the stretcher and halted Warden who was about to leave with it. Without saying anything, he reached out to the white sheet and revealed the body’s head.

And then, everyone’s attention was focused on the body’s face.

Peggy also approached the stretcher and stood next to General Ross. As an agent and a lifetime soldier, she naturally wasn’t afraid of a mere dead body. She pinched Sinthea’s face. After confirming the authenticity, she exchanged a glance with General Ross and nodded.

No one present didn’t know Sinthea’s appearance. In addition to Peggy’s personal confirmation, an answer appeared in everyone’s mind regarding the identity of the body. At this point, everyone’s expression subconsciously changed, some with joy while some with despair!

Pinching Sintha’s cold yet elastic face once more, Peggy sighed emotionally at Sinthea’s youthful appearance, “Speaking of which, Sinthea Schmidt’s age was similar to mine, yet I’m an old lady while she… Tsk, the Super Soldier Serum indeed is a magical item.”

As she uttered this, her tone and eyes suddenly carried traces of sadness.

General Ross at the side was an experienced veteran, he even fought side-by-side with Captain America before. So, he understood the meaning of Peggy’s words. He kept silent while pulling the white sheet over and covering Sinthea’s face.

Because witnessing Sinthea’s corpse from a close distance, Warden was startled by General Ross’s action and flustered.

Fury next to them gave a meaningful gaze to Natasha and Natasha gazed at Warden. Warden instantly had the illusion of falling in love again and pushed Sinthea’s body to the morgue along with Natasha.

On the other hand, everyone on the scene carried different thoughts, but no one stopped them and gradually saw the stretcher disappear. Seeing the commotion ended, half of the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents started leaving while the H.Y.D.R.A. members who intended to calm down also left in a hurry.

However, the H.Y.D.R.A. members who came in a group all left by themselves without saying anything and had gloomy eyes. When they were stunned by Sinthea’s corpse, no one in the crowd went and examined their expression. Therefore, it was a mystery as to who was the enemy and the ally.

Contrarily, Leo who was lying on Fury’s head wasn’t looking at Sinthea’s corpse. He was constantly scanning everyone around. Moreover, the current him was miniaturized and others’ faces were as huge as a giant’s. So, even the slightest change in facial expression and involuntary eyeball movement was equivalent to an earthquake to him.

Flying out from Fury’s hair, he shadowed the H.Y.D.R.A. agent with the most frequent changes in facial expression and constant movement of eyeballs. This agent was a woman in her thirties. As she walked down the lobby, she suddenly took a right turn into a corridor. The corridor was empty as she gradually increased her speed and eventually began trotting with an anxious look.

Soon, she entered the women’s bathroom alone and pulled a palm-sized pager out. The pager only had three buttons, but she typed extremely fast.

Tap! Tap! Tap!

Then, a series of texts was formed. On the pager was, “Chief Simpson, it’s Agent Reena. Safety code, TXHGL-59745. Leader Sinthea is confirmed dead. The masterminds are Alexander Pierce and Nick Fury. The murderer is Natasha Romanoff.”

She then sent this message. After sending it, she remained in the bathroom with an expressionless but puzzled face.

Meanwhile, whether it was the men’s bathroom, the women’s bathroom, laboratories, offices, or dorms, various people in various places were using various hidden or non-hidden communication methods to frantically send messages to the H.Y.D.R.A. base that was deep in the mountains. Some of those who worked in the morgue took a photo of Sinthea’s corpse before sending it out.

They no longer cared about exposing themselves and no longer cared about exposing the base. Since Pierce became a traitor, then were their identities and the base’s location still a secret?!

The only thought they had right now was to immediately contact the base, requesting them to retreat and retain the spirit of H.Y.D.R.A., avoiding it being eradicated!

……

In an inhabited mountain range, this was the secret base of the remnants of H.Y.D.R.A. Here, caves were connected and formed a vast network as numerous people were busy inside and outside the caves.

Chief Simpson was in his office at the moment. There was only so much luxury to an office inside a cave, so he and several assistants of his were sharing an office. Right now, his assistants were collating information.

Abruptly, one of them removed the headset and jolted up from his computer in panic. Then, he dashed towards Simpson’s side, “Chief Simpson, one of the spies from S.H.I.E.L.D. sent a message…”

“What does it say?” Simpson frowned.

Gulping the saliva down, the assistant answered, “It says Alexander Pierce has betrayed us and leader Sinthea is confirmed dead!”

Simpson immediately jerked up and walked towards the assistant’s computer. Before he could check the message sent from the S.H.I.E.L.D., more and more messages came popping in. Simultaneously, the phone in the office began ringing.

Meanwhile, several other assistants also stood up in shock as they also received similar messages. One of them was pointing at the screen and exclaiming, “Look! It’s leader Sinthea’s photo!”

Staring at the screen, Simpson’s brows dug deeper as astonishment filled his eyes. Five minutes later, he stormed into the end part of the cave. Charging into the lab, he almost tripped over. After he recovered, Dr. Zola and his assistant, Helmut, stared at him in confusion.

Simpson suddenly shouted out loud, “Dr. Zola, bad news! Leader Sinthea is dead!”
