Soul Of The Primordial Remanent

Chapter 38 - Born Wrong

"What are you suggesting? Your visions show memories that are not mine!" Ishkin's fury alternated into mystifying interest. The sudden life-altering information caused Ishkin's guard to decorate; corrosive energy intensified, devouring his soul at a brisker pace.

"Yes, uncalled for, right? Over the years, I experienced flashes of memory from several distinct beings. However, there remains two I still fail to reach. Moreover, of all the ones I experienced, they all originated from vastly different worlds, unknown to one another. Though somehow, the reminder of not belonging to that world occupied their head from their birth."

"So, being confined to your soul place has hidden implication," even while experiencing the intense pain of the silvery corrosive aura, Ishkin felt an unknown joy finding a lead towards his origin even though it made him more confused. "Tell me, are you the same as them?"

"Even if I answer, you can never tell if I lied, can you?" To check if he could piss him off once more, Rais responded while tittering.

"Whatever you say, Rais. Undoubtedly the answer is yes, considering the dire situation you unintentionally befall into. Now, visualize transferring spiritual force at a rapid pace before I wither."

"Anything for my brother!"

Suddenly being declared as a brother, Ishkin became astonished. However, the surprise expression beamed into a smile, tramping over the soul-crushing pain of the eroding aura.

Rais extended his hand to shake Ishkin's hand as a form of alliance, and in the process, he provided him with jade-green spiritual force condensed within the tower over time. While the spiritual force depleted, Rais's soul place became darker and darker.

Rais's mind still carried various questions regarding Ishkin; however, he pried no longer. First, he needed to understand the root of all of his enigmas, the mysterious soul place. He reasoned that once he grasped the source, the hidden pathways spreading from it would light up one by one to explore.

Closing his eyes, Rais embraced the silence, feeling the ripples of warmth swirling throughout the tower, while his lost and overwhelmed mind reclined. He yet far from grasping his origin or how he ended up, but at least he gained few means to unravel them.

Within the dark tower, the runes engraved on the inner surface emitted faint glows of calming splendor. Being teleported back to the center of the floor, laying over the large seal, Rais gazed up at the two ranging vortexes far far away. Resting his burden on the compact floor, Rais smiled, beholding the enchanting soft jade-green glows gracing the tower wall. It seemed as if he floated within the eye of a magical storm.

Ishkin, after recovering, steadily approached Rais, while deciding to withdraw from treating him as a child of seven, since he witnessed his acute and resolute mindset during their friendly confrontation.

Similar to the first time Ishkin spoke, Rais overheard him behind the crown of his head, "brother, do you grasp distinctive aspects of the worlds the people were born in?" To discern, if he could recognize the location of the worlds Rais witnessed within his visions, Ishkin decided to inquire for details.

"I wish, I lack the context of the brief moments I experience."

"I understand, as I suspected, you lack the means to inspect into specific memories."

"You are right, they are random; however, I can check back into what I have already glimpsed, and even into unknowns if I know the concept."

"So, were you just lucky that you happen upon that specific memory from all the years of memories they have?"

"No, there is a person of merely a single recollection, the memory of not belonging to that world, nothing else. My fate would resemble his red welcoming, had not my brother defended me," Rais became slightly sympathetic.

"You mean a baby? And what were his crimes?"

"The unforgiving atrocity he committed was being born wrong and not having a brother to be his savior."

Ishkin stayed silent and felt somewhat lost.

"He was extremely young, so I merely suffered the agony from being killed. Perhaps he was a successor of a frenzied fiend. Though he had not done anything to anyone, mirroring your demise, Ishkin, a spear coursed through him."

"Rais, image not yourself, nor I in a deceased child."

"Was I doing such? This reminds me, how did you protect me as a child, and within the Szornix's Garden?"
