Of course that was a lie, Zhilan just wanted to sow a little bit of mayhem in Yan Qinyu's group of subordinates while she was at it.

"Anyways, are you guys gonna come at me or not? I am a very busy lady so I can't afford to waste time with you suspicious characters" Zhilan said with her hands on her h.i.p.s, wearing a impatient expression.

However when the leader of the men dressed in all black looked up, there was no one there.

The woman seemed to have disappeared.

Just when he turned to look at his subordinates for answers, Xia Zhilan appeared out of no where, standing in front of his fallen teammates.

"How did you-"

Before he could finish his sentence, everything turned black.

"What did you say?" an extraordinary-looking man asked the other man in an icy voice.

"Xie Feng and his other five teammates never came after the mission you assigned to them." he replied humbly

"Couldn't even deal with a mere woman" the handsome man said disdainfully in the same cold voice "Xiao Fan, you deal with her personally. Make sure you get that treasure she's hiding - Chunhua's getting impatient. Now, leave."

"Yes, master." the man named Xiao Fan answered respectfully and calmly left the room.

The moment he stepped out of the room, Xiao Fan couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief whilst shivering slightly.

'What happened to my master after meeting the Liu Chunhua girl? He's like a love-sick puppy! Where did our cool, calm, collected yet ruthless boss go?' Xiao Fan said to himself.

'What's so good about Liu Chunhua? She's not even that pretty or talented frankly, she's a bit scary. She gives me really weird vibes. Now master is making me go fetch some random woman' he muttered annoyedly whilst walking around.

'Wait a second... Xie Feng and all his teammates are no where to be found which means they're probably dead... And the last mission they were on was to find that woman, Bai Yimei and now... I'm doing the exact same mission! Oh, f*ck! If I end up dead I'm blaming that stupid greedy woman, Liu Chunhua and my stupid love-sick master!'

A few hours later, Xiao Fan came across an extremely crowded street which would have been normal except, it was strangely organized. The entire crowd was parted evenly with enough space to fit 5 people in the center and almost everyone was staring at the back or kept occasionally glancing backwards.

Curious, Xiao Fan looked backwards and was almost blinded by the domineering momentum coming from a blindingly beautiful woman dressed in deep red.

"Where did this stunning lady come from? She's even more handsome than my boss and I didn't even think that was possible!" Xiao Fan said in shock

As Xia Zhilan walked past, Xiao Fan couldn't help but stare like everyone else on the street despite being an elite subordinate of the feared Shadow King.

As he slowly came back to his senses, he finally realised something 'Wait, that woman looks strangely familiar... Isn't she... Isn't she Bai Yinmei? The woman that boss is looking for? The one who has the treasure and who killed Xie Feng? Sh*t, she's getting away!'

Xiao Fan quickly chased after her.

Xia Zhilan however, merely rolled her eyes once she sensed someone following her again. Unlike last time and fighting them right there in the middle of a crowded street, Zhilan decided to turn into a deserted street in order to not disurb any innocent pedestrians.

Sighing slightly, Xia Zhilan called out calmly "You can come out now. I'm guessing you've been sent here by Yan Qinyu"

Xiao Fan sheepishly walked out of the shadows and nodded awkwardly "Ah, yes. It seems like you've already caught on"

"You know, it was kinda fun the first three times, but after the fifth time of a group of men following me and attempting to ambush me, it gets pretty boring and honestly very frustrating." Xia Zhilan told him frankly

"I'm sorry...?" Xiao Fan replied awkwardly.

"But since you've been sent by Yan Qinyu, I'm guessing you're pretty highranked in his group of subordinates therefore I won't harm you and I'm also getting pretty bored of this."

"That's very nice of you, Miss Bai. However I kinda have a job to do so... I can't just go like this..."

"Let you go? I don't remember saying that." Xia Zhilan suddenly appeared right next to Xiao Fan whilst holding a sharp sword to his neck "I meant that you'll take me to your boss, Yan Qinyu, the shadow king or whatever you want to call him"

Xiao Fan shivered slightly under the chilling touch of the cold metal sword "Haha... Of course I'll take you Miss Bai!"

'Yan Qinyu, please kill this female demon before she starts haunting me in my dreams...' he prayed silently as he led Xia Zhilan to where ever the Shadow King was.

'I didn't expect Yan Qinyu's right-hand man to be so wimpy..' Xia Zhilan though to herself

After leading Xia Zhilan to Yan Qinyu, Xiao Fan hurriedly ran off leaving her alone with the feared Shadow King.

He was currently standing imposingly with his back towards Zhilan however when she entered the room he said coldly "I've been expecting you, Miss Bai Yimei" whilst turning around dramatically.

If this was a movie scene it would have been an extremely cool moment however seeing it in real life, it looked extremely cringey and Xia Zhilan couldn't helping snorting loudly especially after seeing his exaggerated armour.

Yan Qinyu frowned slightly at her mocking outburst however he ignore it and continued his speech "Miss Bai, although it was quite unnecessary for you to come all the way here just to hand over the legendary treasure, I'll take it as an act of apology after killing my subordinates and mocking me." he said self-importantly.

Xia Zhilan nodded enthusiastically with an heartwrenchingly apologetic expression on her face as tears threatened to fall from her bright eyes.

"Yes, almighty Shadow King, Yan Qinyu, I'm here to beg for your forgiveness as I am deeply and sincerely apologetic for killing your subordinates and unintentionally mocking you just now, Oh Great Shadow King! I'm BEGGING for your forgiveness as I, Bai Yimei, am indeed in the wrong for defending myself after you, the almighty Shadow King, sent a group of men to attack me. Instead I should have let them kill me as a sign of respect to you, the legendary Shadow King. Wait no - I should have killed myself and THEN given my legendary treasure to you AFTER killing myself because I am pratically dirt beneath your fe-"

Xia Zhilan interupted her own dramatic dialogue with fits of laughter "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry. I can't do it anymore, I'm just TOO funny."

Looking up, Zhilan saw his satisfied and smug expression slowly change into a face of confusion and anger.
