Time flew by and soon it was the the day of the competition between the four schools.

"Are all the contestants here yet?" the elder who was hosting the event asked..

"No. There's still one missing, sir." said a servant

Rolling his eyes, the elder said "Who is it? Just put them in the last round and if they're still not here by then they'll be automatically eliminated."

"Yes sir. I'll put the girl called Bai Yimei in the last round immediately" the servant quickly left to change the arrangements.

The first round was two students from Silver Swan Academy and Dark Moon Academy, the other two schools. Both were at the same level of cultivation, Nascent Soul Realm, 3rd stage however the student from Dark Moon ultimately won due to his faster speed.

Finally, it was the last round. Most of the audiences had already gotten slightly bored as the most anticipated contestants' matches had already passed. Bai Yimei, who rarely showed her face, and her opponent we're both relatively unknown despite being one of the top students.

After calling out their names, a muscular man walked onto the stage. He was at Nascent Soul Realm, 3rd stage.

After waiting a while no one else stepped on stage. The audience looked around in confusion.

"Where's the other contestant?"

"Maybe they gave up...?"

Just then, a delicate figure with beautiful ice wings, which shone brightly in the sunlight, appeared in the sky and gracefully flew closer. Like an angel, Xia Zhilan landed lightly in front of her opponent.

"Wow... How beautiful!"

"She looks just like a fairy!"

"How come we've never heard of this beauty?"

The crowd immediately started admiring her and grand entrance.

"Wait, what is she wearing? What strange attire!" a person in the crowd suddenly said loudly.

Xia Zhilan found it pretty hard to move around in long robes so she decided to make and wear a casual white t-shirt and a skirt with shorts underneath.

"Humph! What's wrong with what I'm wearing, huh? I personally made this! What if I trip over? Are you going to compensate me if I injure myself?" Xia Zhilan said in an indignant tone at the one who spoke. "I'll wear anything I want to wear. Sue me!"

In one go, Xia Zhilan immediately destroyed her delicate fairy image.

"What a rude lady..."

"Sue? What does that mean...?"

The crowd immediately started gossiping amongst themselves

Rolling her eyes, Xia Zhilan turned to the elder "I'm ready now. Are we starting yet?" she asked

"Uh...Yes. You may start... Now!" The elder said loudly using hisinner qi.

Zhilan's opponent summoned a sharp sword and attempted to mercilessly strike her. However before he could even get close enough, she used Tidal Push which immediately pushed back a couple meters. The man was slammed heavily onto the ground. Before he could even get back up, Xia Zhilan used Call of the Thunder and summoned lightning out of nowhere to strike at him.

Without even giving him the chance to fight back, she had already struck him with thunder a couple times. However her opponent wasn't someone that could be taken lightly.

Using terrifyingly fast speed, the man had suddenly appeared in front of Zhilan and was about to strike with his sharp blade.

Although Xia Zhilan was slightly alarmed at his speed, her first reaction was to use her ice wings and dodge the incoming sword. In the next second, Zhilan was stood behind her opponent with a sword by his neck.

It hadn't even been thirty minutes, yet the match was already over. The audience watched with gaping mouths as the delicate looking girl cruelly yet elegantly won this round against the bulky man.

After Xia Zhilan's match was over, there was a 15 minute break until the next rounds.

All of the remaining competitors used the extra time to do some last minute cultivation or to recover their qi.

Meanwhile Zhilan sat down silently, trying to calm down her beating heart.

As someone who came from the modern world, it was pretty hard to get used to 'magic powers' and using swords to fight. Even, Xia Zhilan who had achieved many things in her lives like being a secret agent or even an assassin, had to take some time adjusting.

Using guns and knives were much different to using a sword after all.

Whilst calming down, Zhilan also cautiously observed two other people, Jiang Li and Su Mei.

In the original plot, they offended Liu Chunhua. Su Mei, the top 2 student, happened to see the Shadow King, Yan Qinyu and the FL together. At that moment, she became deeply infatuated with his devastingly good looks despite not knowing his identity yet and grew outrageously jealously of Liu Chunhua.

On the other hand, Jiang Li, the top student of Golden Sun Academy, had been in love with Su Mei since childhood. After finding out her deep love for Yan Qinyu, he immediately flew into a rage and called his subordinates to find information on him. Jiang Li eventually found out that he was the legendary Shadow King and decided to take out his revenge on the 'totally' innocent female lead, Liu Chunhua.

In the end the pair constantly kept trying to sabotage her in the shadows until Liu Chunhua called her golden t.h.i.g.h, Yan Qinyu to help. The death of two of the top geniuses of the country obviously caused tidal waves and Liu Chunhua ended up claiming all of the glory of single-handedly killing the pair.
