In the original plot, the competition wasn't extremely important and it only happened to accentuate the two's strength and how the almighty Shadow King, Yan Qinyu, was able to defeat them so simply.

'Who uses swords in the modern days? If it was a shooting competition I could easily win!' she said defensively.

"We're about to start the next round" the elderly host announced "Can Su Mei from Golden Sun Academy and... Bai Yimei who's also from Golden Sun Academy step onto the stage?"

'F*ck me!' Zhilan broke down inwardly. 'The second best student is probably extremely strong right? She's definitely at like the 9th stage of Nascent Soul Realm! And that Jiang Li guy is probably halfway in the Spirit Realm!' she though to herself.

After the two months of cultivation, Xia Zhilan broke reached the 7th stage of Nascent Soul Realm.

Hesitantly flying onto the stage, Xia Zhilan stood face to face in front of Su Mei.

Like all villainesses, she was outrageously beautiful and matched Bai Yimei in terms of looks. Naturally Su Mei was also insufferably arrogant since she was ranked two in the entire academy. Of course she hardly put Bai Yimei, who ranked eighth, in her eyes.

"What are you looking at?" she asked angrily.

"Well then, aren't you going to give up? You obviously can't defeat me" Su Mei said with confidence whilst rolling her eyes.

"I think I know that." Zhilan said in an impatient tone "But it would be embarassing if I give up before the match even starts..."

"Okay then..." Su Mei said in a strange voice, as she had expected Xia Zhilan to either get angry or to actually give up meekly. "W-Well you better not lose to quickly then!"

Since Zhilan expected Su Mei to be at a much higher level than her, she quickly took the first move and brought out her sword and charged at her.

Just when Su Mei was about to block it with her own sword, Zhilan suddenly jumped upwards and landed behind her. However, Su Mei's position as the second best student wasn't for nothing.

The moment Xia Zhilan leaped upwards, Su Mei had already expected her next move and calculated her counterattack.

Dodging to the right, Su Mei immediately put some distance between them.

"I'll admit for the 8th in the school, you're pretty skilled but a cheap trick like that won't beat me!" Su Mei shouted "Now it's my turn to attack."

Su Mei started chanting in a mysterious language whilst waving her sword with both hands in a elegant but skillful manner. At the same time the blade of her sword started glowing a mesmerizing dark blue.

She suddenly opened her eyes which were glowing strangely and started running at Xia Zhilan at an alarming rate.

'Hmm... I feel like she's running pretty fast but... As a 9th stage cultivator, isn't this really slow? I'm pretty sure I can go that fast too.' Zhilan thought in confusion 'She'll probably go faster later as a sneak attack.'

The audience watched in excitement as the beautiful and graceful Su Mei, approached Xia Zhilan at a speed that the audience couldn't see it properly.

Su Mei artfully struck at Zhilan with her glowing sword at a highspeed. Despite that Xia Zhilan could still dodge easily.

After almost 100 strikes of Su Mei's sword, Xia Zhilan could still effortlessly dodge or parray her sword away.

Feeling that something wasn't right, Su Mei immediately jumped backwards a couple feet.

"How Is this possible? Anyone under the 5th stage of Nascent Soul Realm, my stage, couldn't possibly handle my attacks! How can you, a measly Core Formation cultivator, dodge my sword technique?!" Su Mei shouted in disbelief. "What stage of cultivation are you at!?" she demanded

"Well, I did breakthrough a couple times so now I'm at the 7th stage of Nascent Soul Realm... But I thought you were at the 9th stage?" Xia Zhilan replied in confusion "You're only at the 5th stage!?"

"9TH STAGE?!" Su Mei shrieked in disbelief "Impossible! Y-you were only at the core formation stage 2 months ago! How is this possible!"

"In two months that girl's broke through from Core Formation Realm all the way to the 7th stage of Nascent Soul Realm!?"

"That's not possible!"

"How could this be?!"

Almost immediately the crowd who were spectating the fight started murmuring with each other.

"She must have a LEGENDARY treasure!" Someone from the crowd shouted excitedly

"A legendary treasure?!"

"B-but that only appears once in a millenia!"

Meanwhile Xia Zhilan stood in the center of the stage whilst staring blankly at the thousands of people talking about her intelligence.
