PS I'm Over You

Chapter 90 - Rion Stahl Isn't Romantic

Sara lowered her gaze. She was still thinking why didn't she leave and allowed this man to drag her outside the airport making her miss her flight. Just hearing his voice made her weaken her resolve. Her heart pounded in her c.h.e.s.t at the mere thought of him.

She knew she had wasted enough tears for the past weeks. Shedding a tear now would fix nothing.

The two of them were both deep in their own thoughts as they walked side by side to the cafe. Rion took her luggage from her hands and refused to give it back with a sharp cold look that warned her to drop the issue.

Sara almost failed to notice the wind that made her shiver. The sun was already setting and the sky was starting to darken. She sighed and watched how her breath formed a mist. It was starting to get colder these days.

Rion lead the way silently, while Sara stared at his broad back. He pushed open the glass door of the cafe and both of them were welcomed with freshly baked goods and the nice aroma of coffee. The place was full as expected because of the colder temperature outside.

As soon as the aroma hit Sara's nose, her mouth watered. She suddenly felt really hungry and was craving for something sweet. Rion sure did know where to find such luxuries.

They took their place on the line and waited for their turn to order. As they arrived at the counter, the server on the other side of the counter recognized Rion and greeted him. Sara then wondered how Rion found such a nice place that he even became a regular patron of the cafe.

"Who's this pretty lady you have here? Your girlfriend?" The barista teased Rion.

Rion's face remained impassive but his eyes flashed with amus.e.m.e.nt.

"Not yet," he replied, surprising the young woman beside him and the barista's jaws dropped in response.

Sara opened her mouth to correct him but she couldn't find words to say. Was he really serious when he told her that he liked her?

Her face flushed. Oh, she really wished the ground would open and swallow her at the moment.

"Oh.." the barista felt the awkwardness between them and decided to take their orders.

Sara ordered a slice of chocolate mousse cake and a cup of hot chocolate while Rion took his usual coffee.

They took the empty table near the window where they could see people come and go to the cafe. Rion noticed that some people had left already probably to go home earlier because the weather outside was getting worse. It seemed that another thunderstorm was coming tonight.

Rion glanced at the woman across him. She looked nervous and uneasy in her seat.

"Sara," he called out her name.

She lifted up her face and bit her lower lip before summoning enough courage to answer him.

"What do you want to talk about?" she asked.

"Let's not waste our time and talk about us," Rion said, his eyes on the untouched coffee in front of him.

There. That is the Rion Sara knew. Always direct to the point and blunt with his statements even though sometimes she wished he could at least consider her feelings too just like now.

"I do like you," Rion started, "but you have to know I'm new on this. I haven't gotten involved with anyone else before."

Sara gaped at him. This is a very unromantic confession but the way he opened up and confessed that he liked her too made her heart race and her body feel hot and cold at the same time. She wanted to cry and throw herself into his embrace and say how much she liked him too.

She could feel his eyes, waiting for her to respond. Somehow his confession made her feel awkward, ashamed and nervous at the same time. They stared at each other, neither able to utter a word to break their silence.

Sara could feel the butterflies in her stomach. The silence was making her uncomfortable in her seat. How could she tell him what she felt about him?

"Do you know why there are so many failed relationsh.i.p.s out there?" Rion asked, breaking the unwanted silence between them. His eyes turned to the window and watched as the rainfall made people run away for shelter.

"Why?"

"Because some people choose to assume and not talk. Problems could be solved if both parties are just willing to be an a.d.u.l.t and communicate with each other." Rion answered but his attention was still outside of the cafe.

"But not all have the courage to face the problems knowing it will also break them."

"If only people could learn to communicate well, none will suffer the consequences. Relationsh.i.p.s don't just happen overnight. It will take time, commitment, and communication for two people who really want to be together."

"Some people need to understand that no matter how great a catch you are, if the person isn't willing to catch you, nothing will happen. One must know when to stop," she replied.

Rion turned his head back at her. His face was void of any emotion.

"So you would rather leave me behind than to know what I really feel about you?"

"No! That isn't what I meant," Sara blurted out. "I'm just…" What? Undecided? Worried?

"You're worried. Do you think I'm seeking you now just because we slept together?"

Sara shook her head. She knew Rion wasn't that kind of person.

Rion was always alone and by himself. To seek her like this, he must have come to his senses that he really needed her and liked her.

We all want to find that one person that could make us feel complete and special. That one person that could bring meaning to our life and hope that one will never leave our side no matter what may happen.

Sara knew about Rion's dead sister. How he dearly loved her when she was alive. Ririna may not have told her much about Rion's life but it was clear that the only one who was able to make Rion human was his little sister.

She always thought that her feelings for him were one-sided. She never imagined he felt the same way for her.

"I thought you didn't want anything from me," she confessed.

Rion closed his eyes. A hand reaching up to pinched the bridge of his nose as if trying to stall an incoming headache.

"You assumed wrong. You are my special person. My one and only," he sighed.

He opened his eyes and stared at her intensely. Sara was so lost in his eyes. Her heart was beating wildly as if wanting to jump out of her c.h.e.s.t. His eyes were trying to convey the unspoken words he couldn't say to her.

I'm sorry.

Don't leave me.

Stay with me.

I need you.

I like you.

I love you.

Her eyes were filled with unshed tears. Tears of joy. She stared back at him with love and longing in her eyes.

"It wasn't my intention to hurt you. I only wanted to free you from the guilt that it was your fault why it happened. It wasn't your fault. It was I who started it and somehow I was aware of what was happening."

Rion lifted his hand and placed it over hers. His hand was warm against her skin. He waited for her to pull away but instead, she grasped his hand and intertwined their fingers. His other hand cupped the side of her face as he leaned forward to brush his lips against hers.

Who said Rion Stahl isn't romantic?

With her eyes closed, Sara revels on his gentle kiss. A single tear rolled down her cheek. His kiss was so warm, so gentle, and so familiar. She could feel herself threatening to burst from happiness. He broke away and leaned his forehead against hers. His eyes were closed while the tips of their noses touched.

Sara grinned before she let out a giggle making Rion open his eyes. Finally, she was smiling at him. How long did he wait just to see her like this?
