PS I'm Over You

Chapter 70 - Awakening of the Witch

Ririna clung to him. She couldn't believe she survived and lived from that assassination attempt. She never thought she would see Eli and Skyler again when she shut her eyes after her car crashed on the highway. It felt like a long time since she had seen Eli, let alone hold him like this.

'He is with me' she thought.

No one will attempt to hurt her when he is around and she knew anytime soon, she and her devil will do a manhunt against the proprietors of the failed assassination against her. Her brown eyes sharpened, she will not stop until they fall into her own hands. The awakening of the witch will send them soon to the hell with the help of the devil himself.

Ririna tried to ignore the stinging pain on her back. She found herself still weakened by the incident as she tried not to think too much of what had happened. She knows Eli has started out finding the culprit and knows he will fill up the details to her very soon. Protecting her and Skyler is his utmost priority and he will eliminate all the threats even if it's just budding.

From the way he was holding her, Ririna knew he had missed her too. When he whispered to her how he will never let her be hurt again, she knew he needed her as much as she needed him. Ever since they have reconciled their relationship, it seems problems keep on coming their way. Is this something they should overcome together?

Eli took her hand and showed her the engagement ring he had put on her. She opened her mouth to say something but failed. This is the infinity ring he had promised before. She remembered then that they were supposed to get married earlier if the incident didn't happen. Maybe now, she's officially his wife.

She looked up at him, eyes shimmering with tears. A marriage. Something that every woman dreams with the man she dearly loved. How did they find love in this messy and unruly world? Both of them found each other and are graced with a lovely beautiful child. Eli placed a gentle kiss on her ring.

"This is not how I wanted to propose to you," he said.

"I know but thank you. Thank you for staying by my side. It is enough for me." she whispered.

He held her tighter as if he is afraid that she will leave him anytime. Ririna buried her face in his c.h.e.s.t, inhaling his musky scent, calming her nerves before she sighed happily. After a few more minutes of them holding each other, they heard Skyler roll on his side before waking up.

As soon as he saw his mommy in his father's embrace, awake and alive, Skyler sat up and threw the blanket away from his body. Eli released his wife from his embrace for Skyler to hold his mother.

"Mommy!" Skyler cried. He crawled on the bed and embraced his mother.

Skyler's tears continued to fall from his eyes as he became too emotional seeing his mother. His little body slightly shaken in relief. He was so afraid that his mother wouldn't wake up because of him.

"I'm sorry, mommy. I'm so sorry." he cried.

Ririna frowned before giving Eli a questioning look. He shrugged his shoulders, not knowing what their son is talking about. What did Skyler mean by that?

"What do you mean, honey? Did you do something you shouldn't? Don't worry mommy isn't mad at her little prince." Ririna replied as she rubbed Skyler's back to calm him down.

"Because I found daddy." Skyler started to explain with teary eyes. "Mommy got hurt because of the bad guys. I'm so sorry, mommy." he wailed.

Ririna's mouth open ajar. How could a kid like Skyler blame himself for something he knew nothing about? While it's true that she told him that there are bad people wanting to hurt her and Eli, she didn't mean that Skyler would be the one to blame if something happens.

"Shhh… that's not true, baby. Please don't cry. Mommy will cry if you wouldn't stop," Ririna said softly. Skyler doesn't need to burden himself with a.d.u.l.t problems. She and Eli will protect him from anyone with malicious motives.

"Really? Please, mommy. Don't leave me and daddy again. Stay with us, please?" Skyler begged and Ririna's heart ached as she looked at her son. Brushing away his tears from his flushed cheeks, she kissed his forehead before engulfing him in a tight embrace. Never. She will never leave them again.

"Mommy promise that she will never leave you and daddy," Ririna promised her child.

They stayed in each other's arms until they heard a knock on the door followed by a squeal of delight and feet shuffling along the floor. Ginny and Evan came into the room. Evan motioned Skyler to come with him for his late snack downstairs. Ririna nodded to her son, releasing him and watched how Skyler held his uncle's hand before giving her a glance and left the room with Evan.

Ginny and Ririna need to talk and the details may not be appropriate for Skyler to hear.

"Oh my god! Ririna, you're awake!" Ginny rushed besides the bed, pulling Ririna in a tight embrace.

"Urgh... Gin. I miss you too but that hurts." Ririna replied.

Ginny released her as soon as she heard what Ririna said. She forgot that Ririna's shot wounds on her back aren't fully healed.

"Oops… sorry, Riri," she said.

Speaking of her injuries, Ririna looked down on her sleeping gown before turning her attention to her best friend. She slowly and gently peeked within her clothes and saw several bandages covered her torso as well as some stitches that surely the handiwork of the professional doctors Eli and Ginny hired for her.

"Oh wow. Didn't know I received so much injury from that incident. How long have I been sleeping?" Ririna asked.

"Almost six weeks," Eli replied. His voice sent a pleasant shiver down Ririna's spine as she moved and lean closer to him, her back touching his c.h.e.s.t. She closed her eyes, reveling the warmth of his body before his words sunk into him. Her eyes shot open.

"Six weeks?" She couldn't believe she stayed on the bed for that long.

"Well, you were already unconscious when they brought you to the hospital. You nearly died, Ririna." Ginny's eyes were filled with tears again as she spoke, remembering the time when she arrived at the hospital, seeing her best friend's body covered with so much blood on the operating table.

"Hey, Gin, don't cry. I'm fine now, see? Everything will be okay. As for those mongrels, they just signed their death warrant and we will reap their lives soon." she said before holding her friend's hand tighter with a mischievous smirk on her lips.
