PS I'm Over You

After so many days of waiting, the doctors cleared Ririna. She will be recovering in a normal phase now and hopefully healthy enough to come out of her coma in a few hours. She's been in deep sleep for almost six weeks now.

When they said that her brain activity has come back to normal, Eli and the rest of Ririna's friends sighed in relief. Even though she's healing now, the trauma from her accident may still affect her mental condition.

Eli didn't care how long it takes as long as Ririna opens her eyes to see him and Skyler. Their child is also excited to see his mommy wake up and will bug his father every now and then asking if she's awake. They are both filled with excitement and dread with anticipation to reunite with Ririna soon.

"Mommy will wake up soon, Sky." Eli said, "but she needs more rest so she can heal faster."

"But I miss mommy so much," Skyler said as he laid on the bed on his stomach, both of his hands supporting his chin. He is also excited to tell stories about what daddy and he did while she was sleeping. He will also show her the pictures and videos they have taken during the father's day activity at school.

"Me too, Sky but we need to wait," he replied as he sat silently in the chair beside the bed, his eyes never leaving her beautiful face.

Never in his life did Eli feel his mind clouded with emotions. He never felt so useless until now. He wondered then if Ririna will still choose him after his failure to protect her. Why did she fall in love with him in the first place?

No one had seen him as a person. He was always ruthless the businessman, the cold assassin, the devil. How could Ririna love someone like him? After all the pain and tears he had caused, why did she accept him with open arms?

He had promised her everything and yet the moment she needed his help, he had failed to protect her. The guilt consumed him. Does he still deserve her love and to stay by her side?

The first five hours of the morning passed slowly for Eli and Skyler as they both waited for Ririna to wake up. Though Eli is always patient and has learned to wait especially on the field he's working with, he started to get irritated at how slow the time passed. Eli is well aware of every second that passed and he felt that the clock seemed to mock him as he waited for his woman to wake up.

The rest of the afternoon passed relatively at the same slow pace. The only difference was Skyler decided to take his nap again beside Ririna afraid that he might miss his mother's awakening. Ginny and Evan also stayed at Ririna's place just in case she needed an immediate medical assistance.

Rion, who looks unwell and not his usual self also paid a short visit earlier. He just asked for her current status and played with Skyler for awhile while they waited for Ririna to wake up. When Rion left, Eli remained impassive beside his wife, staring at her beautiful face, wondering if she could still love him in spite of his failure.

"Wake up now, my sleeping beauty," Eli whispered in her ear before kissing her cheeks.

The sky was already darkening outside when Eli felt a difference in Ririna. He kept his hand firmly locked to Ririna's since morning making himself skip his meals earlier. His eyes widened when her grip on his hand tightened and she slightly shifted her head towards his direction.

"Ririna?" Eli's voice was sure and confident even though he felt none of those.

Ririna's brows twitched with his voice as if she was dreaming and having a hard time to wake up in the early morning. She shifted again, her hand slightly gripping his. Her beautiful long lashes lifting slowly revealing her brown orbs to her beloved. Her eyes connected to him with confusion as if she is unsure that she's seeing Eli in front of her.

Eli lifted his other hand to place his palm on her cheek, his thumb gently c.a.r.e.s.sing her face as she looked up into his face. Ririna nuzzled his palm and sighed. She's now assured that it was Eli waiting for her to wake up. She reached up her hand and touched his face before pulling his head closer to her.

"I miss you" Ririna whispered. Her voice came out weak and hoarse from her long sleep.

Eli's eyes softened at her words. She still d.e.s.i.r.es him. She still loves him. Eli found himself sitting on the bed beside her, gathering her body into his embrace, holding her against his c.h.e.s.t. Ririna blinked at his sudden show of affection. She smiled up at him and wound her arms around his neck before burying her face in his shoulder, smelling his distinct scent that instantly calms her nerves.

"I'm glad that you're here. Thank you for waiting for me." Ririna whispered.

"I'm glad that you're here. Thank you for returning for me." Eli whispered.

He placed a gentle kiss on her forehead before sighing. She's awake now and he felt the stress that has been building up within him slowly vanishing into the thin air. He heard their child snoring softly beside them.

"I won't leave you unprotected ever again." He promised her and he meant it.
