Chapter 16 - Hidden Mission

The pillar of fire slowly became smaller and smaller, and flames also began to die out. With a boom, the big bear fell to the ground.

The pieces of earth around it's body were all melted, the armor couldn't protect it from the flames, by the contrary, the earth around it melted and only helped to burn it's fur more. The bear was charred black, not the same black as it's fur but a black you see in overly cooked food. If it didn't tremble from time to time, Blake would think it was dead.

The disciple who did all of this was standing just beside the fallen bear, his arms were hanging down like he didn't had anymore strength to use them, and there were a lot of burn marks on him. He looked to be barely able to remain standing up, and his clothes were also burned here and there, but he looked way better than the bear.

Blake stared at Riolu and asked with caution in his eyes.

"Can that bear still fight?"

Riolu looked at the bear, stopped to think for a second and relaxed his posture. He shook his head, the bear wasn't able to stand up and fight like last time.

Blake nodded and walked in the direction of the disciple. He trusted Riolu judgment, he wasn't afraid of the bear standing up again. Riolu and the junior disciple also followed him, the disciple looked nervous, he was still afraid of the bear.

The fight might have looked to be not that difficult for them, but you have to think about what would have happened if none of them or Riolu had used potions and ethers. The bear was seriously like a actual tank, none of their attacks except Riolu Force Palm did real harm. And when it made a earth armor, not even that worked anymore.

It had nearly impenetrable defense, and a incredibly strong attack. If a single hit from it had landed perfectly, they would immediately become seriously wounded. It's only real weakness was it's lack of agility.

It resisted the attacks of three people for a long time and it didn't look that tired, If Blake didn't have potions it probably could outlast them in a long fight, they would've ran out of energy first.

Heck, the disciples had to take potions around two times in the fight, that is nearly the same as fighting after resting.

Just when the senior disciple was going to fall to the side, incapable of supporting his own weight anymore, the junior grabbed him by his hand and put it around his own neck so he wouldn't fall anymore.

"Give him this." Blake gave him a super potion, he wasn't that sad by using money like this, since these guys had fought with him. He also is aware that there was no need to fight the bear to the very end.

The bear wasn't that fast, and when it got paralyzed, not to mention them, even Blake could outrun it. They also knew about this fact, but they stayed because Blake asked them to and helped him fight the bear.

"Can't you be more careful? You know that was dangerous."

The wounds on the senior disciple Fang healed, and the junior disciple was looking at him like he did something wrong. The senior disciple had a slight smile in his face.

"Was what he did earlier very dangerous?" Asked Blake. He knows that there was the danger of the bear discovering him and attack and he wouldn't be able to avoid it at such close proximity, but by the words of the junior disciple, there was more to it.

"Yes, this idiot released all his Qi without any sort of technique, leaving only enough for him to be barely able to walk." The junior disciple sighed, facepalmed and shook his head. The guy had burns marks all over his body earlier, it showed that he was very barely able to control the flames by using them this way.

The reason why they didn't do this when Blake wasn't here was probably because they underestimated the bear and didn't do this from the very start, causing them to not have enough energy to do it later. And even if they wanted to do this earlier, they wouldn't be able to distract the bear enough to get so close to him without Riolu.

"So that's why he still isn't able to walk normally even after being healed huh..." All of the wounds he had were seemingly cured, but he still looked weak. Blake gave him a ether as well since the problem was energy.

The junior disciple had a troubled face, they had been taking so many good things from this person, and she even saved their lives. After drinking the ether, the senior disciple suddenly kowtowed in ground, the junior disciple also did the same a second after.

"My name is Fang Qing, and I will never forget this debt on my lifetime!" He said while facing the ground.

"My name is Xun Yu, and I will also not forget this!"

Blake had a troubled expression.

"No need to be that serious, come on stand up." He lifted both up again. He would be lying if he said that he wasn't even a bit happy with their show of gratitude, but he felt bowing like this was exaggerated. He would have liked more something like shaking his hand.

'Wait, the bear isn't dead...' Blake suddenly remembered something he had neglected for a while.

'Can I catch this guy? He is a pokemon-like creature after all..' Blake took out a pokeball from his bag, and threw it at the barely alive trembling bear. It actually turned into red rays of light and it got s.u.c.k.e.d into the ball. The ball fell on the ground.

It shakes.

It shakes..

It shakes...

The pokemon broke free!

If this was in the game, something like this would appear. The ball shook three times and just when Blake thought he had caught it, the pokeball split into two halves as the bear appeared in the ground again.

'I should have expected this...' Even weak low leveled pokemons can break free of normal pokeballs, much less this bear, even if it was weakened as hell. Blake threw another pokeball...

The same happened again and the bear broke free.

Blake still did not give up, throwing pokeball after pokeball. The same happened again and again, and soon enough, the bear had escaped a total of four times.

Blake threw the fifth and last pokeball, unconsciously putting more force into it, like he was throwing a rock instead. It shook three times and stopped for a half a second.....

The bear broke free again.

Blake was immensely pissed, and took a deep breath to calm himself down.

'Right, I still have the pokemar-' As Blake opened the pokemart window in his mind, the number of money he had gave him a shock.

Balance: 60¥

"Are you kidding me...." He snapped. All of his remaining money was spent on the fight earlier, now he didn't have money enough to even buy a pokeball, the cheapest thing on the pokemart...

"Riolu, kill it." Blake wanted to kill this damn bear himself, but he wisely left the work to Riolu.

"Riolu!"

Riolu hit a Force Palm with full power in the bear head, and it stopped trembling. It wasn't going to stand up ever again.

Blake heard the notification sounds of Riolu leveling up like he already expected, but something that gave him a surprise also appeared.

[Hidden Mission Complete!]

'Defeat the overlord of Black Bear forest, the Black Bear.'

Reward: 10,000¥, Second Pokemon

Blake sighed loudly.
