Chapter 15 - Flame Pillar

"A second phase? Are you kidding me...?" Blake was surprised and annoyed. The bear was behaving like some video game boss.

Everyone except Riolu was surprised by seeing the bear stand up, the younger of the two disciples even had some helplessness showing in his face.

The bear made the same mocking smile he had at the start, but now it looked way different with it's distorted face. It looked like the smile of a madman.

It took a step forward, filled with confidence in it's victory, when something that shocked it happened.

The bear suddenly stood still like it couldn't move even a millimeter, and small arcs of lighting ran trough it's body. Blake knew what this was, the bear was paralyzed!

Force Palm had a 30% chance to paralyze a pokemon, it must have happened in that last Force Palm, when Riolu hit the bear on the ground. This was seriously good news!

Once a pokemon was paralyzed, it's speed was cut in half, and sometimes it will not be able to move because it's paralyzed. This means the already slow bear, who was little bit slower because of his earth armor, got his speed cut in half.

Compared to everyone here who moved incredibly fast, it was slow as turtle! Upon realizing this, Blake immediately took action.

"Riolu, turn off Quick Attack and hit it with Force Palm!"

"Riolu!" Riolu didn't hesitate and immediately did as he was told, running at the bear without the bonus speed from Quick Attack. The bear lifted up its pawn to counter attack, if this was before he could be able to hit Riolu, but now...

Riolu easily avoided the bear paw strike and hit it in the c.h.e.s.t, that was covered with earth pieces. The attack blew a huge hole on the armor, but the bear face didn't show any pain.

"Come back!" Riolu did as told and immediately retreated, the bear couldn't do anything to stop him.

Blake silently watched as the hole on the bear armor patched itself, floating pieces of earth were coming from the ground to the hole. In only 3 seconds, the hole Riolu made in it's armor disappeared.

'Hmm, if we continue like this, it will turn into a battle of attrition.' The bear couldn't do anything to harm Riolu because he was slow, and Riolu couldn't blow his defense up as well, so whoever energy ran out first would lose.

'I'm confident I can win a battle like that since I still have Potions and Ethers in my bag, but there is another way...' Blake stared at the two disciples who were watching from the sidelines. They were recuperating energy, they have already fought with the bear two times in a row, they were both mentally and physically tired, even with the help of potions.

"Hey you two." The disciples turned their attention to Blake. She gave a potion and a ether to each one of them.

"That bear got his speed cut by half, anything you can do about it?" As they gulped down the "medicine" and felt their bodies get filled with energy, they heard Blake question.

The senior disciple had a thoughtful face for a second before nodding, he seemed to have a plan. The younger one had a confused expression.

"Xin, summon your Flame Whip and hit it's unguarded areas. You don't need to put much strength into it, just annoy it the maximum possible."

"Yes Senior Brother!!" The younger disciple nodded and summoned his whip made of fire, their energy was completely filled up.

"Senior Brother, what are you going to do?" The younger disciple was curious.

"I'm going to create a opportunity." The younger brother nodded again. He had faith on his Senior.

He whipped at a area the bear didn't cover with armor, the bear who was busy trying to catch Riolu suddenly felt pain, but he ignored it since it wasn't a big hit.

The attacks didn't stop, and the younger disciple kept continuously hitting the bear unguarded parts, It didn't really harm the bear but it hurt like hell, the bear finally snapped after he was whipped in the same spot three times in a row.

It turned to the disciple direction, wanting to chase him and tear him apart, but he was easily outrun, and got a Aura Sphere Blake told Riolu to use in the back of the head. It's head didn't had any armor in it, but it's thick prevented Aura Sphere from doing any real harm. It was still pissed though, and changed his aim to Riolu Again.

This time it didn't try to dumbly follow and it started to throw earth balls at Riolu. Riolu easily avoided the attacks with his Aura Sense, and even if it didn't use Aura the bear arm moved too slow to keep up anyway.

It was still being whipped in the back by the disciple, and it couldn't hit him as well since the paralysis made it's movements slow. It was also hit by a Aura Sphere again.

At some point in time, Riolu and the disciple started running in circles around the bear, whipping and hitting aura spheres on him. The bear was seriously going insane, it couldn't reach them because it would be easily outran, It also couldn't attack them from afar because they easily avoided it's attacks. All it could do was keep still and get slowly beaten to death.

In a situation that you would think only happened with bosses in a MMO, it had nearly lost itself in rage. It hit the ground with both paws, it was the same move it used at start of the fight. Both the disciple and Riolu were forced to stop, and dodge the rocks, unless they wanted to get gravely wounded.

The bear felt the attacks stopping, and let down it's guard. You couldn't blame it, it was freed from that torture for a while. Unfortunately, that was a grave mistake.

It didn't notice a figure quietly reaching below itself, the senior disciple was waiting for a chance to act until now. He readied himself for something, and for a second, his eyes and the illusion of flames in them. He prepared his attack and...

With a shout, a pillar of flames rose up from him, swallowing the bear and himself. Everyone watched in surprise as a fire pillar cut through the dust cloud the bear made, it was screaming in pain as the fire burned it.
