Law Of Creation

Chapter 54 - The Scary Red-Haired Woman

"I want to join the Mercenary Guild." Mingyue said to a thin middle-aged man at the receptionist desk.

[Of course, I know that he is the receptionist. There is a sign on his desk. 'Receptionist'. Big and clear.]

...

On the way to the Mercenary Guild, Mingyue was lost earlier. This city was too complicated for her and she didn't know the sign of the Mercenary Guild. Fortunately, Mingyue found some city guard and asked for the direction. And for some reason, the guard was giving her a pitying look.

[Do my appearance was like a beggar?] Mingyue was surprised by that pity look and immediately checked her appearance.

"Humph. You didn't even realize your own appearance?" Xiao Jing's sneer was sounded in Mingyue's mind.

"Well, yeah my appearance was a little unkempt and messy. But I don't think that my appearance was similar to any beggar." Mingyue was puzzled by that guard's look of pity. But she just threw that memory behind.

[Getting identification from the Mercenary Guild should be the first priority. Next is food. I don't want food ration anymore. Sleeping place? Since I am not sure with this place' safety, maybe I should get a room in the inn. Sigh, everything was connected to coins and coins.] Mingyue was muttering all the way to the Mercenary Guild.

And Mingyue arrived safely to the Mercenary Guild.

The guild was a wide place and a little dirty. She opened the door to the guild. Inside, she saw an almost empty place.

There were only a few of rough people that were sleeping on the floor. And the only person awoke in this place was only the person that was sitting in front of a big desk made of wood.

Mingyue came closer to the big desk to see what was written on the desk.

'Receptionist'.

[Oh, bingo!] Mingyue smiled in her mind.

". . . Are you sure that this person will let you join this place?" Xiao Wu's question hit on the spot.

[I don't know. But if possible, I wanted to join. Maybe I can earn some coins from the Mercenary Guild?] Mingyue hesitated a little, but she didn't think too much.

[Nah, my main aim is the identification. it should not be too hard.]

"Just look at me." Mingyue reassured the worry-wart deer.

Arriving in front of the receptionist's desk, Mingyue was looking at the man at the receptionist desk.

[He was not like the receptionist that I thought. Shouldn't a receptionist have a tidy appearance and a bright smile?]

[Nah, let's do my job now.]

...

"I want to join the Mercenary Guild." Mingyue said loud and clear. The sleeping people were still asleep, no one woke up because of her voice.

[The receptionist's gaze was kind of sad? No, it's not. Pity? Another pity? Did my appearance really like a beggar? Seriously???]

After some silence between us, the receptionist finally said something, ". . . Do you know the prerequisite to join the Mercenary Guild?"

"No" Mingyue shook her head. That was the truth. All she knew was joining the Mercenary Guild to have an identification on her hand.

". . . The written rules are the youngest applicant must not less than ten years old." The receptionist explained.

"Un. Then?" Mingyue was nodding as a sign that she understood. Unfortunately, the receptionist was thinking of something different.

". . . Obviously, you can't join the Mercenary Guild. There is no 'then?'." The receptionist was holding his head on the desk.

"I am ten years old." Mingyue was so angry because even Xiao Jing and Xiao Wu were laughing so hard.

"And even if you are already ten years old, there is another unwritten rules. The youngest mercenary should be at least fifteen years old, because of those ten years old is only capable of doing a little miscellaneous job." The receptionist continued his explanation without believing Mingyue's age.

[Humph, such a bully!] Mingyue thought that his receptionist deliberately made it hard for her.

[At first, you said ten years old. And then, you said fifteen years old. What's next? Twenty? Fifty?]

"To make it simple, there is no job for a little kid like you. A mercenary's job was hard and full of danger, you know? You should go to another place if you are in a need for some miscellaneous job." The receptionist closed his eyes like he wanted to go to sleep.

"Ugh. . . But. . . " [. . . But I want to get an identification! I don't care about mercenary's stupid job!!!]

"Well, if you can read, write, and counting, everything will be different. This place is in need of that kind of people. Because of the deficiency of that kind of people, even a mercenary like me was forced to be a receptionist. Sigh." The receptionist was grumbling with the closed eyes.

"I can read, write, and calculating!" Mingyue tried to take this chance.

[As long as I could join the Mercenary Guild!]

"Don't lie, no need to force yourself." Obviously, the receptionist didn't believe what Mingyue said as he rolled his eyes to Mingyue.

"Humph, you are just a lazy person! I will just wait for another receptionist then!" Mingyue was angered with the receptionist word's full of contempt.

"Fine, fine. Be a good girl and sit on the side. Let me sleep a little."

"PLAK PLAK PLAK….." Something was hitting the male receptionist and it hurt his head.

Angered by the fact that his quality time aka sleep was disturbed, the male receptionist wanted to flip out the desk and fought with whoever that was hitting him.

"YOU DAMN. . . " But, the male receptionist held back the rest of his sentences. He was clearly surprised by the person he was seeing now.

A tall woman with red hairs was standing in front of him while holding a pile of papers. She wore an angry face while glaring at the male receptionist.

In her other hand, she was hugging Mingyue closely. The male receptionist was confused by the sudden event in front of him.

"What? What damn? You dare? After you bully a poor girl, now you want to bully me? Do you think I am weak?" The red-haired woman immediately hit the poor male receptionist again in the head. She didn't hold any strength that even Mingyue could see the poor male receptionist was being black and blue on his face. Her red hair was dancing around akin to a dancing flame as the red-haired woman hit the poor male receptionist.

The male receptionist almost spurted out blood from his mouth.

[What? What's my fault? ]

[Damn! I was being forced to be a receptionist at night and I didn't even bully anyone and you said that I bullied a poor girl?]

[What poor girl? I was enacting the rules of the Mercenary Guild and now you accuse me of being a bully? Really? Is there any justice in this guild?]

No one in the Mercenary Guild dared to stop the rampaging red-haired woman. She was the only receptionist in the Green River City. She was a 3-star mercenary before she suddenly became inactive and became the guild's receptionist. At the place like Green River City, even a 3-star mercenary was an existence that they had to respect. No one knows the reason why she became inactive, even until now.

Seeing such a scene, even Mingyue didn't know whether she should be happy or feeling bad for the poor receptionist. But remembering her purpose, Mingyue braced herself to disturb the red-haired woman.

Mingyue tugged the hand of the red-haired woman and looked at her face, her eyes.

She wanted to say 'let's drop this matter', but unfortunately the red-haired woman thought the different thing.

"See! Look at this girl! She was scared because of you!" Not even stopping, she even increased her strength in each of her hit. The poor receptionist could only cover his head to protect his life.

Mingyue wanted to fall down on her b.u.t.t.

[Hey miss, I wanted to stop you.]

[Where did you see that I am scared?]

[Don't you see that this guy is dying???]

Fortunately, the red-haired woman stopped. "Damn! If only there is a capable person that could read write and counting, there is no need to keep someone like you around!"

And in the end, the poor receptionist was hugging his head while curling on the floor. No one dared to help the poor male receptionist as the red-haired woman was still there.

The red-haired woman turned her attention to Mingyue. Unlike her dominating style earlier, she flashed a kind smile. She now was like a kind-looking older sister to Mingyue.

"Don't be scared, don't be scared. The baddie has been subjugated by big sis." The red-haired woman was c.a.r.e.s.sing Mingyue's messy hair while she gave a big smile.

". . . Er. . He is dying. . . Is it okay?" Mingyue was surprised by the sudden change of the red-haired woman's expression. There was only one word that came to her mind.

[Scary!]
