As soon as Xander's words came out, Mr Steven's gaze instantly turned towards Lucius and it wasn't just Mr. Stevens. All the other students present couldn't help but give Lucius a second look.

It couldn't be helped.

Something so juicy like a duel on the first day was something enough to get the attention of any student.

As this was going on Mr. Stevens took the time to look at Lucius closely.

'That's him isn't it? The kid with the particular golden talent. What was it again…. Ah! [Supreme Student]'

I remember the guys in the office told me I should pay some attention to this kid so I can't help but wonder what he's capable of. Surely we won't have another monster.'

As Mr Stevens thought this he couldn't help but steal another secret glance in Landon's direction.

If he had two monster-like geniuses in one class he really wouldn't know how to cope!

"Fine." Said Mr Stevens

"You can have your little duel, that is unless the other party disagrees"

"Surely you won't back down now, right Lucius?"

As Xander said this, Lucius could feel countless gazes in his direction.

'This bastard! No wonder he asked for permission publicly like this, he was trying to force me into this duel all along!'

Although in his heart, Lucius was cursing up a storm he still managed to maintain a calm demeanour on his face.

" I agree to the duel but there has to be some conditions. I can't use mana so if we're going to have a duel both mana and magic have to be banned during it."

As Xander hears this condition, his face crumpled.

"This is a bit too unfair don't you think? You are at least a 3rd class fighter and until now I mostly focused on magic, without magic and mana, isn't it just your advantage?"

Hearing this Lucius just rolled his eyes.

Now there's no magic, this bitch starts crying but before he was just sneering with an ugly smile on his face.

But even with that, Lucius knew he couldn't push forward with this. After all, banning magic and mana was bullying the guy a bit too much. If things carried ok there was a chance that people would side with him and then he really had no hope.

"How about this?" Said Lucius

"You're a Mage that wants to be a magic swordsman so you should know some support magic, right?"

"…That's right." Replied Xander cautiously

"Well if we allow you to use support magic on yourself your stats should increase to that of a 3rd class fighter and then we would be equal in terms of physical abilities, at that point the fight would be fair."

"Well…"

"Huh? You got a problem? This is a swordsmanship class, not a magic one. We're here to train swords, not cast spells. Is it because you can cast a few spells that you look down on so called 'simple swordsmanship'."

As Lucius said this Xander could feel the air turn a little tense as the people all around looked at him with unfriendly gazes.

Seeing this Xander groaned internally.

With just a few words, Lucius had touched the reverse scale of all fighters in this world.

If you were to ask a fighter his opinion on Mages he would give you just one sentence.

Too fucking arrogant!

Unlike fighters, which most people had the talent for, Mages were relatively rare.

And not only were Mages rare, but the power ceiling for mages was also many times that of fighters.

The destruction of a sword slash could never match that of a fireball.

With increased rarity and combat power in the same rank it caused mages to be naturally arrogant and haughty. And this was n it to mention the amazing enchanted equipment, magical devices and even spell scrolls they could create.

Mages were also fucking rich!

Put it like this.

If a commoner became a fighter in the eyes of most nobles, at most he would only be a strong commoner. But if a commoner became a Mage he would instantly make a jump across the class gap.

Even nobles would show him some respect and some would even go so far as to solicit and hire them.

Although force and brutal fights with close combat were a man's dream, becoming a Mage was a thing of status!

Put it like this, except for those people with special hobbies or talent, as long as most people had the talent to become a Mage they wouldn't bother to train as a fighter.

As Mr. Stevens heard this, even his look slightly changed.

It was clear to see that even he had suffered from a mage's arrogance in the past.

Faced with the unfair gazes of everyone present, Xander could just grit his teeth as he said reluctantly

"Sure, that sounds like a great idea."

Seeing the ugly expression on Xander's face Lucius burst out with a radiant smile as he secretly sneered.

'Humph! You want to play games with me? I'll make sure you regret it.'

Maybe it was the villain inside of him talking but seeing his opponent shake in fury made his heart feel at ease.

B it after mocking Xander in his heart a little, Lucius sobered up and became serious once again.

He didn't believe that Xander was completely stupid, if he agreed to his favourable conditions then he must have some confidence. If he became too arrogant then, he wouldn't end well.

Looking at Lucius, Xander breathed out to relax himself and cast his spells

『 Cat's Agility 』

『 Bull's Strength 』

『 Tough Skin 』

A warm current flowed through Xander's body as he felt his power soar and break the first limit and enter the 3rd class!

Clenching his fist, Xander smirked coldly.

As Lucius had guessed, he still had some confidence.

Lucius's guess before was correct, he was trying to become a magic swordsman.

Although he had put most of his effort into practising and learning magic, that didn't make him an utter novice when it came to swordsmanship.
