Forsaken By Love

The phone kept ringing, but no one picked it up, and he suddenly felt immensely nervous. What if someone had acted against her? What if they had kidnapped her or wanted to kill her to remove the stain on their lives?

His eyes darkened the more he thought about it, the hand was clenching the phone so tightly that it started creaking.

Suddenly it began ringing, and Lu Nanfeng looked at the number, only to see that it belonged to He Lixue.

He hurriedly answered the phone, worried that something had happened to her.

"He Lixue?" He asked the moment he picked up the call. "Mhm," a sleepy voice sounded on the other end. It was slightly hoarse and full of exhaustion.

"Lu Nanfeng?" she asked, her voice still sounding as if she was tired. "It's me," he answered.

"Is something wrong?" He Lixue finally woke up. The vibrating phone had woken her up, and she called back while still being half asleep, but knowing that it was the male-god who called, she slowly felt more awake.

"You have the cheek to ask? You were thrown out of the sanatorium, and now you are homeless! You only have fifty-thousand yuan, how are you going to manage?" Lu Nanfeng was worried about her, so his voice was slightly harsh, but He Lixue did not feel mad. Instead, she felt warmth. So this was how it felt when someone cared about her.

"I bought some clothes and checked into a hotel. I will rent a flat tomorrow, and start earning money. I have some skills that cannot be belittled."

"What skills?" Lu Nanfeng asked unwillingly. He was not going to let her do anything illegal.

"I have always played the piano, I will just teach the piano to kids," she said casually, not willing to tell him about her hacker identity.

"Will that pay enough?" Lu Nanfeng asked worriedly, but He Lixue just laughed, her pearl-like laughter resounding in Lu Nanfeng's ear, making his heart skip a beat.

"Don't worry, I am very good at the piano," she assured him. "I won't be able to live a life like my old self, but I can live a decent life anyway."

Lu Nanfeng was reassured and grunted to show that he had given his permission.

After a bit of consideration, He Lixue finally gathered her courage to ask something she had been wanting to ask for some time. "I was wondering if I can ask for one of your favors?" she asked, her heart beating rapidly because she felt slightly guilty for asking about it.

Lu Nanfeng, on the other hand, was immensely happy to hear that she was going to ask him for help with something.

"What is it?" He asked, his voice soft and gentle.

"I want to study Computer Science at Imperial University. I know that they have already closed for this year, but I hoped you might have a method to let me enroll. Don't worry, I can promise not to let you suffer any embarrassments; i'll be the best in every grade!"

Hearing her promising this, Lu Nanfeng could not help but chuckle. He quickly thought about it. He was the stockholder of the Imperial University, so he should be able to let her join easily. He was just worried that she would get bullied for entering through the back door.

"Don't worry about me," He Lixue guessed his thoughts. "I am going to shut them up with my results; no one will be able to laugh at me."

"In that case, I will get you signed up as soon as you have a steady address. Look for Fenghuang Real Estate offices, they deal with both rental and property sales. I will greet them on your behalf."

"Thank you so much!" He Lixue's excited voice sounded in Lu Nanfeng's ear, and he could not help but shake his head, her happiness clearly affecting him.

Knowing that she was no longer at the sanatorium, Lu Nanfeng quickly returned to his office, where he personally called the manager of Fenghuang Real Estate over.

"CEO Lu, what can I do for you?" He asked nervously. Had he made any mistake, or was he going to be rewarded?

"Tomorrow He Lixue is going to enter one of your stores," Lu Nanfeng finally looked up from the doc.u.ments he was looking at and glanced at the manager. "Give her one of the flats in the Golden River District. Also, make sure to only charge her five thousand yuan a month in rent, and a deposit of five thousand yuan."

"But CEO Lu, the Golden River District was just developed by us, and we usually get a rental of fifteen-thousand yuan a month!"

"He Lixue is my friend," Lu Nanfeng said, and the manager finally understood. His eyes widened in shock. He could not help but gulp a few times.

"I understand," he said and nodded his head. "We will make sure she gets that residence at the right price. How long should the contract be?"

"Give her one without a time limit. She has to cancel the contract three months prior to moving out, but there is no limit to how long she can live there."

The more he heard the more shocked the manager was, but knowing that they were friends, he dared not say anything. He just turned mum and nodded his head before he excused himself.

After having talked with him, and feeling more assured, leaving it to the manager, Lu Nanfeng contacted the Imperial University. He was also going to greet the headmaster, and hopefully, he would manage to have her settled quickly.
