Forsaken By Love

During the night, Lu Nanfeng felt the woman in his arms begin to stir. Not because she had woken up, but because of a nightmare.

"No... No... I don't, don't want to die again..."

Her voice was low and full of despair and panic as she spoke, sweat was beading on her forehead and soaking her pajamas.

Lu Nanfeng was instantly awake. What did she mean did not want to die again?

"Please... No more... Don't kill me again..." her whimper continued, and Lu Nanfeng felt his heart clench. Kill her again?

What exactly had happened to this woman in the past? And why was she so sure that she had died once before?

Lu Nanfeng leaned down to wake her gently, and He Lixue felt the arms approaching her, and she clung onto the arms with all her might.

"I don't want to go back... Don't make me go back..."

The more she spoke, the more solemn Lu Nanfeng's expression became. It seemed that the woman truly had some secret that she could not share with him yet.

But he was not in a rush to unravel it. Instead, he gently nudged her body, and He Lixue woke up, her eyes were full of panic at first, but upon recognizing the surroundings and Lu Nanfeng, she sighed a heavy sigh of relief. She was still the new He Lixue. She was not back in the abyss.

"I'm sorry," she said. "I had a nightmare."

Lu Nanfeng nodded his head gently and smiled at her. His heart was in chaos, but he did not show anything on his face. Instead, he hugged her tightly and coaxed her back to sleep.

While He Lixue fell asleep again, Lu Nanfeng could not sleep for the rest of the night. He was uncomfortable after hearing the words that she had said.

The following day, when He Lixue woke up, they went out of the Golden River Estate and drove to the company.

But as soon as they left the car in the underground parking slot, He Lixue began to feel that something was wrong.

Although she had taken over the body of the new He Lixue, her old senses were still there, and she could feel that she was being observed. But this was within the Fenghuang Group, who had the power to spy on her here?

As she left the parking space, she noticed that the feeling vanished, but upon entering the IT Security Department, she felt someone observing her every move again.

Usually, she would not sense if someone was observing her out of curiosity, but she could feel malice behind the gaze.

Had she been too outstanding before? Had she caused someone to dislike her and wanted to take revenge on her?

She spent the whole day frowning as she did her tasks, but nothing happened, however, the feeling did not vanish either.

Had her sixth sense become rusty and unable to really comprehend what was happening around her?

She frowned, but then, when leaving with Lu Nanfeng that day, she still felt a strange feeling that she was being observed.

The only one she could think of was the He family. She had not offended anyone else.

He Lixue hesitated with telling Lu Nanfeng about her worries. She was not a small woman who needed to be protected all the time. She took out her laptop when she returned to the flat and began hacking into the surveillance system that was around the Fenghuang Group in the hope of seeing a few traces of someone staring at her, but she found no traces of anything.

Frowning, she continued to observe the various cameras, but she could not see anyone who showed questionable behavior.

He Lixue was so focused on searching for traces, that she did not notice that Lu Nanfeng came out from the shower and walked behind her.

He could not help but lift an eyebrow when he saw that she had hacked into the government surveillance system, without any problems, and was controlling it with ease.

It seemed that she was not only a skilled programmer but also a decent hacker. But why would she observe the surroundings of the Fenghuang Group's office?

"What are you looking for?" Lu Nanfeng could not help but ask, and He Lixue, who had been focused on her task, jolted slightly.

"I feel as if I am being followed and spied upon," she answered. She had initially not planned on saying anything, but now she was caught red handed hacking, so she had to give a good reason.

Hearing her answer, Lu Nanfeng frowned. He did not doubt her, but she did not seem to have offended anyone?

"Is it the He family?"

"I don't think so," He Lixue answered with a frown. "If it was the He family, they should not have the means to avoid the cameras like this."

Lu Nanfeng's expression turned dignified. "Have you caused problems for anyone else?" he asked worriedly, but He Lixue shook her head.

"I have been in a coma for three years, with no one to look after me. If someone with this power wanted to deal with me, I would not have woken up, but I did, so it is new."

He Lixue narrowed her eyes as she looked at the cameras. Still, nothing appeared, so she erased all traces of her hacking and retreated without anyone being the wiser about her infiltration into the surveillance cameras.

"Either my senses have dulled, I have become paranoid, or they are experts." He Lixue said, with a sigh. "I don't know which one of them it is, but I feel rather uncomfortable about it."
