Forsaken By Love

Chapter 51 - "Break her Legs"

The cold man, who was checking the two folders, closed them and gestured with his hand for the rest of the people within the room to leave.

Soon the only remaining men were the two who had dealt with the files.

"Do you think it is her?" the cold man asked, but there was no emotion in his voice.

"I think so," the one who had appeared with the files said with a nod of his head. "We have to get her back; she was amongst the strongest experts you have groomed and a truly magnificent weapon in our plans."

"She is, but it seems that she has forgotten all about her roots," the cold man who was seated said, as his hands began tapping the armrest.

"Should we meet up with her?" The man who had entered asked, but the other just shook his head.

"Just keep her under observation. If there is a chance, take her back. I don't care if you use force, just make sure her hands are not injured."

"Understood." The guy was ready to leave, but before he could, the stoic and cold man lifted his hand again.

"Wait," he said, his eyes turning darker. "The man by her side is Lu Nanfeng. He is amongst the top businessmen in the entire world. If they have a relationship, it will make it harder to get her back, so when you move, you can't leave any traces."

"Understood."

"When you get her back, send her to the third manor, and make sure she has no chance of escaping. Our plans have been delayed drastically now we do not have any expert hacker in our team. If she tries, just break her legs and place her in a wheelchair. Then she will not be able to run away again."

The man who had found the information about He Lixue could not help but shiver.

He knew that his boss was cold and ruthless, so this should not be a shock. He Lixue was merely a tool to him, and now she was a disobedient tool. It was only natural that she would be punished when he caught her again.

Usually, he would kill any traitor that left his side no matter what skill they had, but it seemed as if He Lixue had some importance to him, her ability being too perverted, hence he wanted to get her back.

Seeing that his boss had nothing else to say, the man left the room, leaving the cold man alone.

He picked up a picture of He Lixue, a zoomed-in picture of her face. A sweet and happy smile hung on her lips as her eyes were sparkling like the stars in the night sky.

His finger gently rubbed the foreign face with the familiar expression. She looked much more innocent and adorable now than before, but she still seemed like herself.

The cold eyes suddenly turned tender for a brief moment, but when his eyes fell onto a picture of He Lixue and Lu Nanfeng holding hands, the tenderness vanished and was replaced with anger.

He Lixue's life was saved by him. Every skill she had was taught by him. He had fed her when she was hungry, clothed her when she was cold.

Although he had saved many people, although he saw everyone as tools, He Lixue had been different; she was the only one allowed to live by his side. She had always belonged to him.

Now she wanted to abandon him and the abyss? He was never going to allow that. Even if he had to break her heart and legs, he was unwilling to let his things leave him.

He was suddenly not sure if he was happy that she was still alive. On one hand, he was pleased that he could still have her by his side, but on the other, he felt full of pain, knowing that she wanted to live in the light and had moved on from being with him.

At the same time, in the Golden River Estate, He Lixue suddenly sneezed.

Looking down on the woman who had sneezed, Lu Nanfeng felt that she was too cute.

He lowered his head and placed a kiss on the bridge of her nose. "Are you getting a cold?" he asked worriedly, but He Lixue shook her head. "Someone must be talking about me," she said with a smile.

The two were lying in bed; both were wearing their pajamas, nestling in each other's arms and reveling in the closeness. Although Lu Nanfeng felt a sweet torment, he still did not want to let He Lixue leave his arms.

In truth, he wanted more than just to hug her, but she had been brought up to become a socialite, so she likely did not believe in giving herself to a man before marriage.

No matter how eager Lu Nanfeng was, he would never pressure He Lixue or make her feel uncomfortable, so he already began thinking about marriage.

But was it too soon? They had not known each other for a long time and dated each other for an even shorter time.

If he began talking about marriage now, would she run away in fear? Especially since they did not know if their future would work out.

Their love was still in the honeymoon period; it was not certain that it could last when it became an everyday thing.

Lu Nanfeng thought about it before he sighed and shook his head. While he was busy and deep in thought, He Lixue had fallen asleep in his arms.

Her lips were slightly parted in her sleep as she muttered slightly. She was unaware that someone had begun staring at her every move.
