The woman also raised her head when she saw He Lixue, and first, she was stunned by the ethereal beauty of the woman. However, moments after, a trace of annoyance flashed past her eyes.

"Are you He Lixue?" the woman asked. Her voice was pleasant and enjoyable to listen to, but there was a coldness to her tone that made He Lixue frown.

"I am, why do you ask?" Although the woman was clearly against her, she had not done anything extremely upsetting yet, so He Lixue was still polite. This was, after all, a member of an older generation.

"My name is Di Zhiqing. I am Lu Nanfeng's mother," she introduced herself, making He Lixue quite surprised. Lu Nanfeng's mother had come to meet her for some reason?

Di Zhiqing was not in a good mood, but she was not really interested in making this child hate her for some weird reason. But whenever she thought about Lin Xulian, who had a much more beneficial background than He Lixue, she hardened her heart and decided to get rid of this young woman.

"That is indeed a good deal. However, I am never going to betray my friends. Those who betray others are the ones I hate the most," He Lixue said with her head held high. "If you do not like me being a friend of Brother Nanfeng, then just have him tell me that I can no longer be his friend. That way, you will save a lot of money and effort. But as long as Brother Nanfeng considers me his friend, I will not do anything to let him down."

Di Zhiqing was feeling conflicted. On one hand, she was quite pleased with He Lixue. To maintain her son so well was not a bad thing, and the fact that she would never betray him was also something she was quite pleased to see.

However, she had already decided on Lin Xulian as her daughter-in-law. Why would her stubborn son not return to this woman? The Lin family was only inferior to a few families in this country, and they only had one child, a daughter, so by marrying her, the Lu family would take over their entire industry.

Di Zhiqing looked at He Lixue with eyes that were full of mixed emotions. Why had her son gotten so close to this woman? Was there something special about her, or had she enchanted him somehow?

The silence had prevailed in the hall for quite some time. Neither Di Zhiqing nor He Lixue said anything. They just looked at one another.

"You won't leave Nanfeng's side?" Di Zhiqing asked again with a sigh, but He Lixue shook her head. "As long as he does nothing to harm me or betray me, why would I leave him alone? Brother Nanfeng is my only friend; I would never let go of him for the sake of benefits."

Just as Di Zhiqing was about to say something, another voice sounded from behind them. "Mother, what are you doing here?"

The voice was low, and there was a tinge of anger hidden within. When hearing it, both He Lixue and Di Zhiqing jumped in surprise.

"Good son, you have a good eye for friends," this was all that Di Zhiqing said before she gave He Lixue a final glance and turned around. She left without looking back.
