Evening, in the cafe.

Xia Weilan was sitting alone at a corner, checking her phone. Soon, the noise of the door opening was heard coming from the entrance.

Xia Weilan lifted her gaze and saw a few young girls walking toward her.

“You’re here.” Xia Weilan stood up politely.

“Weilan, long time no see.” The person speaking with Xia Weilan was the young miss that she had met for a couple of times during her stay at the Ling’s Residence previously.

“Miss Sansan, please have a seat.” Xia Weilan invited them to sit down.

“I heard that you are now the young miss of the Xia Family. I didn’t expect that you would still invite me out. It’s really my honor.” Sansan bagan the chat.

The few young girls talked about branded bags and jewelry. Xia Weilan just joined the conversation casually.

“Sansan, the reason I contacted you was to have a business talk with you. I heard that your family had resources to emerald. I would like to collaborate with your family.”

Xia Weilan seized the opportunity to speak up in between their chit chat.

“Collaboration?” Miss Sansan smiled and a look of disdain flashed across her eyes.

“It’s not that I don’t want to agree. It’s just that you wanted to talk about business when you are just a mere freshman. Hehe, it’s better off for you to stay put and be a young miss. Don’t mess things up”

Sansan came to the appointment because of Xia Family’s reputation. But now, she smiled as if she had just heard a joke.

The discussion that Xia Weilan had prepared was stuck in her throat. She was unable to bring it out anymore.

“Yeah, Young Miss, you can just leave all the business matters to the CEO of your company. It’s better for us to do some shopping at the mall.”

“That’s right, let’s go now.”

The few young girls seemed to lose interest in hanging out and began to stand up. Before they left, they even asked Xia Weilan, “Miss Xia, are you coming with us?”

Sansan also looked at Xia Weilan emotionlessly. She felt that Xia Weilan was unaware of her own limitations.

“I’m not joining. You girls can go ahead. I’ll treat you for a meal another day.” Xia Weilan smiled as she said.

The young girls chatted on their way out and the cafe became quiet after they left.

Xia Weilan’s head was filled with the disdainful look on Sansan’s face just now.

It seemed like Xia Weilan was humiliating her by wanting to have a business talk with her.

Rui Li who was seated not far away trailed Xia Weilan in secret. She frowned as she saw Xia Weilan looking defeated. She picked up her phone and made a call.

“Mo-ge, Sis-in-law had met with some trouble. She’s now a little upset…”

" "

“Where is she?” asked Mo Beichen.

“The cafe across Jingmao Complex.”

“I’m just right across. I’m coming over now.” Mo Beichen hung up the phone.

In the cafe, Xia Weilan finished the coffee alone and stared blankly at the scenery outside of the window.

She suddenly felt bitter and started to think that it was her who was not aware of her own limitations.

After all, she never had any experience in business talks before. All she had were the knowledge she learned from the case studies she read from the books.

Now when she thought about it, she wasn’t even sure about the different types of social connections available and what are the markets in the jewellery industry. And yet she hastily wanted to talk business.

No wonder Sansan glanced at her with such a disdainful look.

The moment she walked out of the cafe, a gust of cold wind blew onto her face and messed her fringe. Xia Weilan subconsciously wrapped her arm around her shoulders. When she was about to step out to flag down a ride, she suddenly felt something warm wrapped around her shoulders. She turned her head around and found a pair of deep-set eyes gazing at her.

“Why are you here?” asked Xia Weilan.

Mo Beichen withdrew his hands and used his tall body to shield her from the wind.

He said calmly, “I happened to pass by.”

The cold wind lifted a small section of Xia Weilan’s hair beside her cheeks. The hair swayed in midair making her look very lively. But Xia Weilan’s expression was as calm and cold as the night ocean.

“What’s wrong?” Mo Beichen frowned. His gaze trailed from her fridge to her lucid eyes.

“I felt that I’m unaware of my own capability.” Xia Weilan’s nose turned slightly red from the cold air.

“Let’s go. We can talk in the car.” Mo Beichen held her hand and led her into the car. She instantly felt her body warming up.

“Are you feeling down from being rejected?” Mo Beichen asked as he saw through her troubles.

“Yeah.” Xia Weilan leaned her back on the seat, looking at the busy street outside the window.

“Are you giving up?”

Xia Weilan didn’t say anything, she was staring outside blankly with an uncertain look.

“There’s a first time to everything. The first time is always the hardest. If everyone gave up in the beginning, then there would be no businessman in this world. But take a look around you”

Mo Beichen pointed out the window with his slender finger at the clustered tall buildings and continued, “You still see all sorts of business deals going on. These are all experiences.”

Xia Weilan’s sight trailed along his finger and her eyes were filled by the neon lights.

“What you are lacking is experience.” Mo Beichen came to a conclusion.

Xia Weilan suddenly smiled and gazed at Mo Beichen. “I’m not planning to give up.”

A consing look flashed across Mo Beichen’s sharp eyes. He drove the car back to Fairview Imperial Court.

After Xia Weilan finished washing up, she saw Mo Beichen talking on the phone beside the window. He greeted the other person as Fang Weihe.

Mo Beichen hung up the phone and walked toward Xia Weilan. He suddenly said, “Tomorrow is your weekend off. Are you interested to be my assistant for a day?”

“Your assistant? Will I be holding you back on your work?” Xia Weilan asked in confusion.

“I have an important business meeting tomorrow. Aren’t you seeking for more experience in this area?” Mo Beichen casually picked up a magazine and sat down on the sofa.

“Can I really come along? That’s great!” Xia Weilan’s eyes immediately brightened up. Her excited look was like a little puppy that had discovered a bone.

Mo Beichen gazed at Xia Weilan who came running over. He squinted and it seemed as though he saw her wriggling her invisible tail.

“Let’s go. Since you are going to be my assistant, here’s some documents. Go through it and get familiar with it first.”

Mo Beichen stood up once again and walked out.

Xia Weilan was really interested. She followed behind him closely.

“Here’s the latest trend of the He Corps and this is the budget allocation of the company. Here’s the basic background of other potential competitors and this one too.“

Mo Beichen placed one document after another in front of Xia Weilan. “This is the background of President He and some….”

Without realizing, a big pile of documents formed in front of Xia Weilan. She suddenly felt dizzy. She certainly won’t be able to read through all of them within a night.

“There’s no need to read in detail. You just need to browse through them briefly,” said Mo Beichen.

Xia Weilan buried her head in those documents and she opened her eyes wide as if she had discovered a new world. Any changes to the figures inside would result in a few millions difference.

Xia Weilan felt that her field of vision was indeed small. The feeling of reading these things were different from when she was reading a book.

The examples from the books were too far-fetch, but what was in front of her were real guns and battles.

Xia Weilan lifted her head from the documents occasionally and saw Mo Beichen wearing his headset attending a video conference. The way he planned his strategies and the self-confidence radiating from beneath his bones captivated her heart.
