“Are you awake?” Mo Beichen’s deep voice was heard in the dim room.

Xia Weilan’s mind went blank for a few seconds before realizing that she was resting on Mo Beichen’s lap. The office was quiet.

Xia Weilan quickly sat upright and said in embarrassment, “You’re done with your meeting?”

“Yeah.” Mo Beichen stood up and picked up his coat.

The both of them walked to the lift. Xia Weilan felt a little embarrassed.

“Have you been waiting for a long time?”

“Yes.” Mo Beichen pressed the button on the lift and wrapped his coat around Xia Weilan’s body. 

“You just woke up, it’s easy to catch a cold.”

The pleasant smell of male fragrance suddenly filled Xia Weilan’s nose.

“I’ll get Rui Li into the office tomorrow to assist you.” 

Mo Beichen strode into the lift while he said faintly, “She’ll be your assistant.”

Xia Weilan gathered the coat and said, “I’m just an intern, if I bring along an assistant…”

“You are not an intern. You are the young miss of the Xia Family.” Mo Beichen suddenly cast a stern glance on her.

“Okay.” Xia Weilan cleared her throat and subconsciously said, “Isn’t this making special treatment?”

Mo Beichen stared into her eyes sternly when he heard her words. 

“The blood that’s flowing in your body is what others don’t have. You’re just deceiving yourself if you think that you’re not special. You can certainly put on the manner of a young miss in the office. It’s your privilege to do so because in future, you’ll be the one managing them. You can’t do this without any prestige. Not to mention bringing a bodyguard, it’s your responsibility to clear those people who had ill-intention from the company.”

Xia Weilan looked at his stern yet caring face. She suddenly said happily, “You’re right. I shouldn’t be serving tea or coffees to others and I shouldn’t let others bully me.”

As for the incident today, it was obvious that someone in the Xia Corp disliked Xia Weilan and wanted to let her suffer some hardship.

How could a lift that was working perfectly all these while suddenly broke down on her first day reporting to Xia Corp?

When Xia Weilan thought about this, she agreed to Mo Beichen’s theory. 

The following day, Xia Weilan went to Xia Corp with Rui Li.

“Good morning young miss!” The security guard immediately greeted Xia Weilan politely.

Manager Yang escorted Xia Weilan to the designing department before leaving. 

The moment Xia Weilan and Rui Li entered, everyone looked at Xia Weilan. Today, everyone’s gaze was a little different. Some were envious, some were of admiration, and some were jealous.

“Young Miss, why did you bring a bodyguard with you today? Did someone bully you?” Gao Lele stepped in front of Xia Weilan and asked coldly.

“Isn’t this the style of a young miss?” Xia Weilan smiled toward her. 

“Hmph.” Gao Lele touched her nose and said, “Frankly speaking, you still have a lot to learn. So pay attention.”

Gao Lele spun around and walked away when she finished speaking.

Xia Weilan looked at Gao Lele in confusion. Regardless, she had felt that Gao Lele meant no harm. It was just that her words were harsh.

During the morning meeting, Xia Weilan still sat at the corner. 

“Weilan, your design was good.” The Director of Design mentioned Xia Weilan’s name at the start of the meeting. 

Xia Weilan lifted her head.

“But perhaps you’re not familiar with our company’s situation. Our company had always used ruby as the main theme. As for emerald, we simply don’t have any suppliers for that. You’ll have to amend your design.” 

“I recalled that our company had released an emerald series last year. It sold well…” said Xia Weilan.

“That’s right. But after that, there were problems with the materials supplied by the suppliers. Up until today, we had not found anyone who could supply us with high-quality emerald. So, we have been using ruby as our main theme.” The Director of Design explained.

“Noted.” Xia Weilan didn’t say anything more. But she felt it was such a pity because her design was made specifically for emeralds. She was certain that this design would suit the taste of the younger generations. If she changed it to ruby, the outcome might not be as good.

When she got out of the conference room, Gao Lele walked beside her and said, “Newcomer, it seems that you are not yet familiar with our design department. Here’s some information, you can take a good look at them.”

Gao Lele forcefully stuffed a stack of documents that she had collected into Xia Weilan’s arm and fled.

Rui Li lifted her brows and said to Xia Weilan, “I didn’t expect that you’ve made friends on your first day of work.”

Xia Weilan returned to her desk. When she lifted her head, she saw Gao Lele quickly lowered her head, pretending that she wasn’t looking at her.

Xia Weilan laid her design draft on the table.

Rui Li said in regret, “I also liked this design very much. It would be such a pity if we changed it to another design.”

“I never intend to change it,” said Xia Weilan. “Since we don’t have a supplier for emerald, we’ll just have to look for one. Anyway, there’s still a week to the official deadline for the draft submission.”

In the Director’s office.

Xia Weilan knocked on the door and the director’s voice was heard, “Come in.” 

When the Director of Design saw Xia Weilan, she pondered and asked cautiously, “Miss Xia, what’s the matter?”

Xia Weilan placed the design draft on the table and said to the director, “Director, I’ll like to ask. If there’s a company that could supply us with good quality emerald, does that mean we can adapt this design?”

The Director of Design once again studied the design draft attentively. She placed it down and said, “To be honest, I’m really confident with this design. If there are suitable resources for emerald, this design will be put into commercial production. I believe that this will be this year’s hottest model.”

After hearing the confirmation from the director, Xia Weilan immediately let out a delightful smile. 

“I’ll figure out a way to find the marketing channel. With such a comment from you, I’m rest assured.”

Xia Weilan made the previous statement in the identity of the young miss. The Design Director could also sense it. She immediately said in a serious tone, “Young Miss, it’s not easy to find the marketing channel. Moreover, the resources for emerald are inconsistent. It’s not so easy to find a good marketing channel.”

Otherwise, someone from the Xia Corp would have done it already. Because there is a certain degree of risk involved, this had been dragged all this while and turned into a dead knot. 

But as a jewelry company that only focused on ruby, they had a narrow range of products. It is also a major weakness as there is a huge diversity of selection of jewelry products in the market today.

“I understand. I’ll examine the product personally before signing any deal.” Xia Weilan put on a confident smile.

The Design Director stared disapprovingly at Xia Weilan. But aside from the design draft, she really had no control over other things. 

She could only nod, “Alright. I won’t interfere with anything except the design. I’ll let you decide.”

“Okay.” Xia Weilan withdrew and closed the door softly.
