Blue Blood

Chapter 4 - A splendid play

Yukari Pov

"Such a pure mana impacted the barrier."

I look forwards, even though I'm not facing Hakurei shrine, I can see the scene of Hakurei Shrine in the outside world through the gap. A being made of Yin but also housing an equal yang stands in front of the shrines tori. He's weakened and faced down by the vampire that refused to sign the devils contract and not drink from humans but be supplied blood. He left Gensokyo before the barrier finished but it seems he stayed in japan since the docs were closed and every supernatural was in gensokyo.

"Is he some forgotten yokai?"

The vampire throws a wild punch, almost like he wants to cripple his prey and eat slowly. His opponent puts foward a white blade and intercepts his punch, using just enough force to slip by him and slice the tendon on his knee with his black blade while the vampire slams into the barrier with the full force he charged with. Yukari isn't worried though, It would take a freakish being even in Gensokyo to damage the barrier, how could some yokai that has almost been forgoten on the outside do anything?

"Meiling would like his swordsmanship"

The swordsman moves forward with beautiful footsteps and fierce momentum, parrying the vampires next attack with the white blade again. Though this time it isn't just his physical being thats parried, even the mana the vampire charged was disturbed and had it's momentum stolen. Using the entire momentum he's built up the swordsman swings his black blade, spiritual and physical combine almost flawlessly and sever the vampires mana and body from eachother, killing him instantly...

"If he survives, I'll watch his spar with Meiling"

But the wave of sword energy didn't stop, it hit the barrier and not only seperated it. There are two barriers, like a bubble inside a bubble, between them is the gap and in the center Gensokyo. The outside barrier was split open 8 feet high and got pushed back so that the bubbles touched eachother at the split. Completely removing the gap from between the barriers at that single point.

"Wha!?"

It's the only thought she has as the barrier few could damage was split by someone so weak.

The person made of mana fell forward with the full momentum of his attack and slams into the second barrier, going through it due to a combination of his reserves being so low and the outer barrier trying to heal itself. He takes massive damage when slamming into the barrier and probably won't survive. (Yukari's belief) If the outer barrier healed he would have gotten s.u.c.k.e.d into the gap and died, so devoting everything to the outer barrier is the best method of defence, that's why his body made it through the second one. Only someonle like Remilia could survive the injuries he has though, so she doesn't have much hope. Though Remilia could survive more damage.

"I hope such an interesting person survives."

Arata POV

I fall forward and pass out after slamming into the barrier, I hope I calculated the damage right and make it through the second one. I spend 5 years on it afterall. I could wait to get s.u.c.k.e.d into Gensokyo by being forgotten but it seems Vampires are well enough known that It would have taken too long for my liking.

Im inturupted from my thoughts after I feel something warm envelop me, similar to the feeling Yggdrasil gave me. It travels from the hand that touched the top of the tree to my heart, pulling in my physical energy. Then to my brain, pulling my mental energy.

"It's becoming part of me?"

I'm not fl.u.s.tered as I've studied enough from the Yokai and magicians I've robbed to know something beneficial is happening. It passes back to the hand that touched the top of Yggdrasil and tries to escape from my palm. I can tell because of our connection it cant leave my hand since it doesn't have physical form, if it left me as a ghost it would pass to the afterlife.

"It feels like a sword handle sized piece of Yggdrasil in my arm."

Since it's connected to my spirit it's form should benifit my spirit, the best way it could benifit my spirit is balancing the yin and yang inside me like it did with itself. The most balanced my mind has been with my body is when I heard the bird sing while climbing Yggdrasil. I was completely at peace with myself and felt I could do anything. Since I feel like It's a piece of wood from Yggdrasil, maybe I should make it a flute? I learned it from the Native Americans using my Raven mimicry afterall. Though It was just a poor imitation of what that bird could do, it made them call me a God.

"I wonder what a flute made from Yggdrasil powered by my belief in the sound it can make will create as magical sound? I hope it can at least compare to that jackass chicken."

I imagine an elven flute from media in my past life, sorry Native Americans but your flutes arent beautifull enough to play that birds song. I need to believe it has perfect beauty in every way to make any magic it does better. A slim flute slowly comes out of my hand made of flawless white wood with damascus like patterns where the flute dips for the fingering holes. It naturally has about 64 small leaves on it, tiny enough to stay out of the way no matter how you play it, looking like it would take a thousand of them to cover the whole flute.

*Grunt

The creation of the flute calmed my mind enough for me to wake up, though I still hurt everywhere. I picked night time to break the barrier so my regeneration is at its strongest, but in an attempt to make it stronger I absorb a little mana from the shrine around me while playing the flute.

(h**ps://youtube.com/watch?v=ChD79ISnN0Q , replace the * with t's)

It's a slow melody and doesn't change, It gives a feeling of facing a hard task, but once completed washes you over with ease and comfort. Like the best rest is one taken after long hard work. As I play it I feel a power take hold of me, healing me of mental and physical exhaustion. Or should I say makes my body and spirit harmonize so well they heal not only themselves, but eachother. I bet I just got a fierce AOE heal.

*Clap clap clap clap

Reimu:"It was a beautiful song! Just for it I welcome you to Gensokyo newcomer!"

I can see her appreciation, and can only appreciate how gentle her smile is seeing it in real life. The game didn't do it justice.

Arata:"Gensokyo? Am I no longer in Hakurei shrine?"

I continue my act

Reimu:"More important than that! You won't die will you?"

I can tell that she cares about my life even though we first met. She's extremely kind, though she doesn't seem like the type to go out of her way to show it. I wonder if even the yokai are kinder here because humans here don't get killed by them and don't power them with the belief that yokais are evil?

Arata: "I can live without medical attention for another day at least?"

Reimu:"You should be a little more sure about such things!"

Arata:"Are there any doctors here then? I don't need a healer since the song was a healing spell. With it and my natural regeneration I'll continue healing back to full, though my healing will speed up if a doctor puts all of my pieces back in place."

Reimu:"Since You will live for a while I can get a doctor from Eientei, You're too heavy to carry while flying."

Arata:"Is this light enough?"

I say as I pull the flute back inside me, transforming into a raven. She walks over towards me and picks me up, placing me on her shoulder.

Reimu:"With you this light I can fly pretty fast, so you better hold on!"

She says with an innocent smile as my joints ache from the acceleration. She's really going for it, huh?

Arata:"You still haven't answered me! Where are we, and who are you?"

Reimu:"You're in Gensokyo! A haven for all things supernatural and magical! Here you're disconnected from the doubt of all of the humans outside! There are more supernatural in Gensokyo than in the rest of the world combined! And I'm Reimu Hakurei, shrine maiden of Hakurei temple. Though I haven't seen your species before, are you a forgotten one?"

Arata:"Before I tell you my species, are there any Vampires here in Gensokyo, how old are they, and are they pridefull? My kind are hunted by them and I don't want to let any know I'm here."

She looks confused

Reimu:"Can turn into a raven and hunted by Vampires? It's the first I've heard of it, maybe you're forgotten even in Gensokyo? You need to spread knowledge of your race quickly or you'll disapear! About the vampires, theres one, but she won't hunt you because of something like your race! If you're still worried about how strong she is, I think she's around 350? Though don't tell her I told you. (Arata's 200, and Reimu hasn't fought Flan, I don't know if she knows about her in canon yet) You don't have to worry about her though, she's harmless! Though pridefull."

Arata:"If theres only one vampire, I don't mind telling you. My name is Arata Shinohara, and I'm a Blue Blood, or a Vampire that drinks mana/spiritual energy. The main difference between a Blue and Red Blooded Vampire other than their food is I'm not nocturnal, though I'm stronger at night. Also, instead of a bat since I'm not nocturnal and drink mana, I'm connected to ravens."

You could see the sparkles in her eyes

Reimu:"I've never heard of such a species! Your kind Is overpowered in this place where everyone is just magic bullet hell!"

And we arive at Eientei.

Arata:"Though I have an advantage against mages, it's not like I can just thrash them. It's harder to absorb someone elses mana than it is to absorb natures, and it's way harder to absorb attacks when my main method of mana absorption is my fangs, I don't want them to take a fireball afterall. Though I'll admit, I can bully mages weaker than me."

I say with a smile, my ingraned racial pride leaking through.

Reimu:"Eirin! You have a customer! You do have money don't you?"

Arata:"If she takes Yen, yes."

Reimu:"Since you have money and are in Eirin's hands Im no longer worried! Im going back to my shrine, come see me and bring donations in the future."

She says while waving and flying away.

I wave my wing back and look over at the grey haired beauty approaching

Eirin:"Are you little raven my customer? You had better have money on you, I don't give free treatment!" She says trying to hide her worry since Reimu wouldn't deliver someone unless they were going to die in her shrine.

Arata:"I'm a magician, if you carry me to where you'll fix me I'll transform back and give you money."

After taking me to the bed she'll treat me on she looks at me in doubt, not expecting me to transform into a 6' tall greek sculpture. (I eventually became a little narcassistic.) Afterwards though she took my payment and patched me up better than any doctor could in 2018! She didn't charge as much either!

Arata:"Eirin-san I've never seen a doctor so skilled on the outside! With this I'll heal completely In a week." I say, genuinly suprised by how good she is.

Eirin:"I would doubt you if I didn't see you healing as I was putting you together, what kind of yokai are you to have such amazing regeneration? And who cast such a strong healing spell on you?" I answer because more people knowing of my race makes me stronger. Once she hears of my race though she doesn't believe me until I show my fangs and absorb a bit of her mana by touching her hand. Afterwards I play my flute again to see if the healing spell will work better now that I'm in less pieces.

The sound echoes around the bamboo forest surrounding the mansion, for a rare few minutes anyone walking through the forest would be able to easily find their way. All of the rabbits come towards the noise and eventually he's surrounded by them outside his window. Kaguya Houraisan walks closer to his room, not coming inside but close enough to listen. Even Fujiwara no Mokou, the eternal enemy of Kaguya that lives in the bamboo patch outside got closer to Eientei than she likes to.

*Clap clap clap

After finishing the song Eirin and the few human rabbits outisde clap, Kaguya and Mokou abstaining since they don't want to clap for something the other might enjoy, at least in front of eachother. Though you can tell they enjoy it.

Eirin:"I've never seen such a unique way to apply healing! How does such a magic work?"

Arata:"Outside, at a point I was completely exhausted, I heard what I think was a phoenix singing. It Healed all of the damage to my body and s.u.c.k.e.d my exhaustion away. This flute is made from the tree it was perched on and sung at for a few days straight. I just play while thinking of it singing."

Eirin:"Not many meet a phoenix, and when they do it's just a bird thats similar to one. Since it healed you with song though It might actually be one. Since I've put you back together and you've paid me your free to go, though as your doctor I recommend staying in bed for another day at least."

Since I'm tired and healing I agree to stay the night and leave the next day, thinking to myself I'll gift everyone at Eientei carrot cake to ensure the best future treatment when I return. Using reinforcement when cooking over the years I've gotten better and better, using normal Ingredients I can make food that regenerates a persons mana, the reinforcement bringing out the best in all of the flavors, so I'm not worried about them not liking it.
