Blue Blood

Chapter 2 - An unfortunate? Rebirth

I see nothing and feel nothing, no actually I can feel a heartbeat. Though it would be better described as a pulse? I see wisps of blue come together inside a shape that looks like a blurry forest made of a green aurora. My "Heart" pulses again, causing more of the blue stuff to come to my center. My heart pulses a total of 64 times before I open my eyes, regaining the ability to see instead of feel, realising that I don't have a mother, and apparently blue bloods are formed from mana in the air.

I don't bother questioning my previous life because I was alone, not because I was a loser, but because I was an orphan and could tell all of my so called friends were friends as long as my existence wasn't troublesome. Which was proved when I needed money because american healthcare is like choosing to put a horse down when it can't run anymore. They all noped out real quick.

I eventually got my operation (whatever you want to imagine, it doesn't matter), and started trying to overcome my fears when not reading online, watching shows, or playing games. That's why I decided to climb Yggdrasil, and you can't say it doesn't work because I could probably calmly sing opera while skydiving from space at this point.

Now that I'm reborn I'll need a new name, I guess Arata (new/uncultivated) Shinohara (Plain of Bamboo), It's a name that says this is a new life where I hope to cultivate myself and grow as quickly as bamboo.

I look around at the forest, It does look more magical than any forest from earth. I look down and realize I'm nude, I decide to head to the sound of water running 1km from were I am. WAIT, 1km!? It seems I have pretty good senses.

I test my body by running to the water, my first step causes a dent in the ground. If I don't want supernatural creatures to track me through the forest I need to control my strength more. On the second step I hear the sound of grass getting crushed with a mortar and pestle, the third step and I can hear the grass crunch. By the tenth step I can barely hear my own running. Damn, I picked a good body.

After arriving at the stream I almost become a narcissist because of my looks, looking back at me are eyes that look like glowing orbs of blue mana. (Cover pic, though only his iris is that color) Hair that looks black like a ravens feathers with a blue gloss when the light shines on it. (Google blue black hair) A perfect face, symmetrical and having all traits that one could describe as noble, I actually look alot like Raizel from noblesse, just different colored hair and eyes. 6 feet tall with perfect compact muscles, barely more bulky than a swimmer. Since my body is powered by mana, I probably don't even have body fat.

After admiring myself I start absorbing mana, it's like how birds just know when to go south. My pores open and mana flows into them from the environment, it will take about 10 minutes to get full doing this so I walk towards where I can feel more mana while thinking of Kanshou and Bakuya, they appear in my hands when I think of them. Convenient. I swing them about 10 times to get used to the reach and weight that rests mostly in the handle. Ignoring the sounds of small critters like squirrels and rabbits. I don't know swordsmanship, but there shouldn't be much I can't cut with these.

I go over what I can of swordsmanship while moving towards the highest amount of mana in this forest, only to find a gloomy cabin surrounded by less light than there should be and a small fence to keep rabbits out of it's garden. Though I can't identify any of the plants in it, and I shouldn't be able to considering their absolutely full of mana. Maybe because of my race I can tell these plants cant hold anymore.

Getting closer to the house I hear movement inside, the door bursts to splinters and a person, no beast comes out with furious momentum. A red iris that glows in the almost dark, his schlera are a bloodshot red, barely differentiated from his iris because they don't glow. Is he a vampire? He releases a bestial roar and charges, I can feel he doesn't want to kill me, but is greedy for my blood, and will drink me dry, is it racial instincts? He charges with his fangs out, not attacking with anything other than his bite. Maybe he doesn't want to spill my blood on the ground.

I backstep until I'm out of the clearing around his house and start to realize even though the light around his house is dim, what does hit him relases smoke from his skin. He fearlessly charges out of the clearing towards me, only to be turned into smoke from the combination of my sword going through his neck and sun the second he leaves what I assume is the enchantment dimming the light around his house. I'm just glad this little guy wore baggy robes, and I hope vampire ash doesn't stain.

Why did I meet a crazy guy as soon as I spawned in? Tormund please! I listen closely and the only sounds heard are the sound of the river I visited earlier. Even the small animals are quiet. I cautiously go inside the house with the Yin sword in front of me, ready to intercept anything.

There's no one in the house, though there are a few bookshelves with books about herbs and magic, though it doesn't look like anything advanced (coming from the knowledge he hasn't yet gone through). I also found a journal, the biggest journal I've ever read actually, after reading it I realize it's because the dude that just Kamikazed me is around 200 years old. I guess he wrote in it to remember all of the years that went by?

The last sentence written is scarier than any horror movie though.

'I woke up even though it's still daytime, I smell something so sweet it makes my first time drinking blood seem like I enjoyed eating dirt. I haven't been this hungry since I first hungered and lost to my bloodl.u.s.t, killing my small village of 30. I just hope whatever this smell is it goes away, something so sweet could only be poison.'

I guess he wasn't a beast? Maybe normal vampires see me as a delicacy? DAMN YOU TORMUND! YOU COULD HAVE TOLD ME!

I calm down, if vampires go so crazy over my smell then It's dangerous to leave the forest. Just imagining picking up a train of vampires as I run away from one gives me chills. The first time I have to run away from one I'll be in danger of aggroing the whole vampire species. Unless some of them can resist it, but this guy was 200 so I won't get my hopes up.

I sit in his bed and go over the knowlege Tormund gave me, it includes Shirou Emiya's knowledge of training, not combat. It includes reinforcement and structural analysis, but not tracing. So I can use magic to identify stuff and reinforce my weapon, maybe even cook with reinforcement if I get good enough. I don't need tracing since I have real weapons anyway.

The magic knowledge on the other hand is confusing, its based on

The caster's level of Ability

The Temperament of the soul

The Substance of the materials and tools

The Space in which it takes place

The Time at which it is performed

Fortune, the most important element, which can compensate for deficiencies in the other five

From that I understand ability is the ability to manipulate mana, as a Blue Blood I should be good at it. Temperment I don't know, maybe someone hotblooded would be better at fire magic? I'm calm and collected, while being open to anything including change. Does that mean I won't be as good as people that specialize but can do any magic?

Though I'm calm and collected there are sometimes I get angry, though it takes a really stupid person to do it, not because it's stupid to make me angry, but because stupid people can make me angry. People that become a burden to others because of their stupid/thoughtless/lazy actions really piss me off. So maybe my temperment is like Kanshou and Bakuya? Calm in accepting all things like Yin and striking with furious anger with yang?

Substance I would guess is herbs and materials used during magic and something like a magic wand, which I think I can use Bakuya as since spiritual energy/mana is yin energy and physical energy/ki is yang energy.

The space would be like water magic being stronger at a lake or holy magic/divinity being stronger at a shrine.

The time would be light magic being stronger at the day, or water magic being stronger during high tides. Maybe even places under certain stars being better for casting blessings or being under mars strengthens curses. Nature magic being stronger in spring.

Fortune, Tormund said I have good karma/fortune for saving earth right? I don't see how I saved earth so maybe my actions lead to Tormund saving earth? So I don't think I have to worry about that aspect. Even getting jumped by a vampire can be considered good luck since I found out that every Red Blood will want to eat me.

That covers the magic knowledge, but what is this other knowledge he gave me? Knowledge about my race? It's different from the instinct I've been using my abilities with, its just knowledge on what I am. Confirmation that weak vampires will lose their mind over me, the ones that don't lose their mind will stay sane enough to plot for my blood. Only really old vampires will be able to control themselves, but It doesn't say how old.

I'm not connected to bats like Red Bloods, I can walk under the sun so a nocturnal creature would be unnatural, I'm connected to Ravens instead. It actually suits Blue Bloods much better, and not only because my hair is the color of their feathers. A lot of Raven Symbolism fits with my race. They're connected with death and the underworld. At first this may seem bad, but it shouldn't be taken literally. Rather, after encountering a Raven it's most likely that something is about to transform your life. Whether positive or negative, a total transformation is dramatic. And, so, a Raven spirit can help guide you safely through harms way.

Some Native American tribes call ravens 'secret keepers'. When you have a Raven spirit animal you shouldn't give your promises of secrecy lightly, nor give away information given to you in trust.

A Raven has no patience for two-faced people and causes those it interacts with to rise to new levels of honor. Vampire pride.

People walking the path of the Magic are often sought out by a Raven spirit. Ravens prefers to share their knowledge with someone who appreciates the depth and breadth of Magical arts, including the challenges that await walking the path. Every culture believes Ravens are connected to magic.

In the sunlight the color of Raven isn't just black, it appears to transform into different shades of blue. Ravens also mimic the sounds of other birds. This means that people interested in learning how to shape shift would do well to seek out a Raven for his teachings. I have a gift for languages and I think I'll be able to turn into a Raven in the future, but I wont know until I have enough mana to try.

People with a Raven as a totem animal are naturally inventive and mischievous. Never afraid of darkness… in fact embracing it with a passion. Able to walk, swim, or fly while remaining silent, which is also the time during which I'm closest with the Divine (in this case magic). I guess this is why I could run (almost) silently so quickly?

A Raven Spirit demands respect, not fear. Being seen as a Shaman, and helps stimulate karmic memories. As these visions or dreams emerge they will help deal with something important in the real world or on my spiritual path. Meaning with my good Karma I might see visions of the future that help with future events.

In some mythologies a Raven even took the role of prometheus, stealing the sun and giving it to mortals. Maybe that's why Blue Bloods are barely weakened in the sun.

Though now that I've gone over this knowledge all that's left is to train since now I have a house and I only need to eat mana. That decides it, I'm going to train until my progress slows down and then try to collect info on what world I'm in. Swordsmanship first since it's more straightforward and less confusing, then my racial abilities of mana resistance (not immunity) and manipulation. After that I'll see what magic I can learn.
