Assassin Initiate

The next morning, I went to work as usual and tried to find any unfinished task to complete.

The morning went by and lunch time came. I took the elevator downstairs to go to cafeteria which was located on third floor. As the elevator was a glass one, I started looking outside. Indeed the view of city center is great from the tallest building, I thought to myself. Suddenly, my eyes caught sight of Lucy in front of the building. Although she was quite far away, I still recognized her. She seems to be talking to an old man. After some time, they separated. Lucy went away in her car, and the old man started walking towards the building. I was only able to follow him briefly, but then his figure vanished from my sights due to the crowd at front of the building.

Sigh, lets not dwell on the old man. But again Lucy here.

I finished my work and left early for the warehouse. I reached the hall and saw the same scene as I saw last time. Desmond still in animus, Rebecca near him. Shaun in the workshop. And Lucy staring at some doc.u.ments at her desk which was located near the wall with glass panes.

I should try to acquire info about her and the Abstergo. Thinking like this, I approached her.

"Hey, Lucy, are you busy?? I had some questions."

"Oh, hey Jason. Please do ask, I will be more than willing to help you." She said while looking towards me and smiling.

"Was it necessary to get in danger to bring Desmond here?" I started with a simple question.

"Yes, it was. I got the news from a friend about Desmond's ancestor being a famous Master Assassin. And he most probably came in contact with a Piece of Eden. To prevent the Templars from getting it first, I had to take the risk." She explained slowly.

News from a 'friend' is it?? Could it be the old man from before??

"Then how were you able to get access to the underground??" I asked her which I was most confused about. Although I had a feeling her next sentence would be a lie.

"I got the access from the same friend who I just mentioned. He managed to crack the security systems in Abstergo. So, any important piece of news naturally comes to him and giving me access codes makes the entry possible."

Hmmm, the answer seems logical and believable. Lets hope I'm just overthinking.

"Okay, thank you for your time." I stood up from the chair and walked towards Shaun and had some talks.

After some time,

"Ok Desmond, time to wake up. You have been in animus for four hours already. You need to rest now." Rebecca's voice came from the hall.

Shaun and I exchanged looks then walked towards the hall.

Reaching the hall, I saw Desmond sitting on the animus with his head low, seems like thinking about something. Rebecca was working with some wires at the side of chair animus.

Hearing us coming, Desmond looked up and said to me,

"Hey Jason. Nice to see you again."

"Nice to see you too Desmond" I shook hands with him while looking at him and smiling. He did the same.

Desmond was a man in his mid 20s. He was wearing a black T-shirt, a white fitting hoodie over it, blue jeans and black sneakers. I just saw him once when he came to my department in search of some records which I helped in searching. That's how we got acquainted.

"Looks like you really know each other." Shaun said from the side lines.

"Yes, we do know each other. Jason helped me with something before." Desmond replied to Shaun.

"Okay, enough chatting. Here Shaun, today's session's data." Rebecca interjected and gave Shaun a data disc.

"Oh, I'm just about to finish decrypting that data disc which Desmond brought. After which I will work on this." Shaun said. When I looked towards him with a confused expression,

"Oh, I forgot to mention this to Jason. Yesterday, Lucy brought Desmond over and a data disc with her. That data disc was used in the animus Desmond was lying. For preventing any data leakage, she even brought the data disc. But when I used this data disc, I encountered some encrypted data. This kind of situation is weird as when an empty data disc was inserted into an animus, it should only have the animuses data. So where did this data came from. I'm currently trying to find an answer for it."

Damn, sometimes he gets overly passionate when it comes to these topics.

Again, after some time, I thought of going back to home and stood up for it. But,

"Great God, Jason hurry up and come with me."

Shaun came and pulled me away from Desmond with whom I was chatting.

"Calm down Shaun. First tell me whats gotten into you?"

"Look, didn't I said I was decrypting some data? I did it!! And look what I found. The data rearrangement shown me coordinates of some place. My bet it that's the location of a Vault."

While Shaun was happily explaining me, Desmond came over,

"Vault??" he asked. Even I don't know about them.

"A Vault is also known as Precursor site. You can think of it as ruins of the Isu era. I think it's even an undiscovered one. We might be able to find something of worth there." Shaun had shining stars in his eyes when he looked at his screen.

Okay, so this..Vault seems to be of great importance. This needs to be kept a secret from Lucy. I don't know why, but I just feel like it. Now how should I convince Shaun? Yeah,

"Hey Shaun, lets keep it a secret from girls." I told Shaun, with Desmond listening to us.

"Why??" Shaun had a dumbfounded expression.

"We should surprise Lucy. Look how she looks like. If we find something from this Vault whose data disc she bought after a bitter battle, I think she will be incredibly happy." I slowly coaxed him. As I know Desmond don't trust Lucy as much as Shaun, so he will be easy to convince.

Slowly Shaun agreed to it.

We decide to go to the location tonight, as the coordinates show a place roughly 120km from the city, we decided to go by a private vehicle.

Desmond and Shaun will come to pick me at midnight and then we will go together.

Tonight will be a long night.
