An Inevitable Fate?

Chapter 85 - 85: Home is where your husband is. (2)

Indeed, they could have lost their lives if not for his quick wittiness.

But,

"Here, the keyword is, 'almost', so you haven't died yet."

He shook his head in disappointment and climbed his bike.

He spoke as he put on the helmet,

"Go inside now before someone else kidnaps you. My job is done, I'm leaving!"

He pressed the start button, making his bike come back to life. Just as he was about to go, Jane spoke,

"Wait!"

Only his eyes were seen from inside of the helmet. His eyes didn't look playful anymore. Jane gulped down.

"Well, thanks for saving me, I mean it!"

Her face was bright red as she spoke. Gosh! It was difficult to say cheesy things.

Mark's serious expression slowly turned into a playful grin making his eyes look like a crescent moon.

She knew that expression! That was the expression he would make before he started spitting the venom!

She turned around, ran towards the hospital's entrance to escape from him.

"Thanks, baby! I had a great time!"

He laughed out loud before zooming away with his badass bike.

Jane froze when she heard him. She turned her head left and right, and sure enough, people were staring at her.

Their gazes and the way they pulled their children away, made her look like an infectious germ that could spread the illness to their kids.

Argh!

'I shouldn't have said thanks to that sc.u.mbag!'

She stormed inside, hiding her face in her hands.

Just as she turned left in the corridor, she bumped into a hard c.h.e.s.t. She staggered and almost fell but the person held her.

She lifted her head and saw Aaron, raising his eyebrows.

"What are you doing here?"

She looked genuinely surprised.

"Why else, I came to visit my father-in-law with Rachel."

Jane panicked when she heard her sister-in-law's name.

Rachel was here?

She had seen the live press meet in the house where she was kept captive. She now knew how much Rachel had done to save her.

Just before the pictures of the engagement were shown, Mark had barged in and beat the shit of Dan, the kidnapper. It was a horrifying scene to see the pretty boy getting hit by a bulky man.

Dan had lost consciousness which made it easy for them to escape from there.

After learning the truth behind Rachel's actions, Jane felt guilty.

She wanted to forgive her but a part of her mind was not ready.

If it was not for their previous intimate actions, there would not have been any pictures of them. Her father wouldn't have gotten sick. It was Rachel's negligence and faults that made the other person take advantage of it.

If she was proper from the beginning, then nothing would have happened to begin with.

So, she couldn't just forgive her.

With that, she started to walk past him.

"Don't let your mother find out about the incident."

He warned her. It was better not to let Gabriel know the kidnapping incident, that would just worry her.

Of course, Jane knew this and was planning to do the same. She didn't speak but walked away.

Aaron was speechless!

This girl! She had some attitude! He thought that she would thank him at least, out of courtesy but come on, all he got was a cold shoulder!

He shook his head and went to the hospital's garden area. He had not seen Rachel when he came out of the ward and had called her to ask about her whereabouts.

The woman said that she was in the garden area, calming her heart.

He stepped inside and glanced everywhere but couldn't find her. Just as he was about to take his phone out to call her, he heard a slow humming sound.

He followed the voice and saw Rachel sitting on the corner bench with eyes closed. She was humming a song that he couldn't recognize.

Her face was glowing brightly as the warm evening sunlight fell on her face. Her knee-length floral dress was moving back and forth due to the wind. A few strands of hair were brushing against her face as the wind c.a.r.e.s.sed her.

She looked like a goddess with enchanting beauty.

Aaron's face softened as he took her in his yearning eyes.

His eyes traveled slowly down her body and frowned. There was a small cut on her leg, down the dress, that was bleeding.

His jaw tightened, clenching his fist! When did that happen? How come he didn't notice before?

He walked slowly, making sure not to disturb her. Kneeling in front of her on one knee, he took out a handkerchief from his suit pocket. He held her leg in one hand and took the other hand near the wound but at that time, Rachel's body shook.

He knew she had opened her eyes.

Regardless, he wiped the bloodstain away with the cloth, gently.

"It's nothing, just a small cut."

She smiled bitterly, retrieving her leg back from his hand.

Now the wound was visible, it seemed that it was indeed a small cut.
