An Inevitable Fate?

Chapter 82 - 82: The unexpected turn of events. (7)

They asked for the direction and went to the respective private ward. Outside, they saw Kenly, making calls.

"Uncle!"

Kenly got stunned, seeing her. What shocked him, even more, was that she was with Aaron. He frowned as he spoke,

"What are you doing here?"

Rachel was speechless! What kind of question was that?

"Of course I have to come to see dad! How is he now? Mom? Where is she?"

Kenly contemplated whether to tell or not. After all, Colin had thrown a fit a few hours ago.

"He's fine, your mother is inside with him. Are you sure you want to visit?"

She nodded with great determination.

"Okay, try not to agitate him, the doctor has advised not to do so."

She nodded and turned to enter the ward but her wrist was grabbed.

"Whatever your father says, don't take it to your heart."

She nodded and entered the ward with Aaron.

Just as they set their foot inside, a tray of medicine got smashed!

"You ungrateful daughter! How dare you come to see me!"

The medicine bottle broke at her foot and a glass piece cut her skin. It started to bleed a little but she didn't notice it at all.

She had mentally made many possible pictures of her father's outburst but this wasn't one of them.

Gabriel, who was sleeping on the side of the bed was awakened by the loud thud and her husbands shoutings.

"Honey, what's wrong?"

She panicked seeing him like that again.

"She has the nerve to visit me after doing everything! Tell her to leave this instant, if not, I don't know what I am going to do!"

That was when Gabriel noticed Rachel who was standing with Aaron, with a shock on her face.

Now she understood the cause of her husband's anger. Her nightmare had come true.

"Rachel, your father has not recovered yet, please go home for now."

She pleaded with her heart. She didn't want things to become even worse.

"No, mom no, I want to speak to dad. Let me ex-"

"Who are you calling your father as? I don't have any wretched daughter like you!"

His anger was riling up as he spoke further.

"Dad, don't be like this! Listen, let me-"

"I am not your father! I was not and never will be!"

Rachel was too stunned to speak further. Before she could speak, her mother interrupted.

"Rachel, dear, please go home! We can talk later when your dad gets better. Now, go home."

"Home? You must be out of your mind, Gabriel. She is not my daughter anymore, she doesn't fit in our home. My daughter died the moment she chose to neglect our family's reputation to go after her lover. She had the guts to get married without our consent and announce it to the whole world. She went as far as to cheat behind our back. I never had that sort of a daughter in my whole life."

"You have let me down, you have let your mother down. Jane had seen you as her mentor but not anymore. And, my son, he must be disheartened right now. What did we do to deserve this? Maybe it's all my fault for not raising you well."

Rachel was in tears while hearing his words. Those words stabbed her heart, making it bleed!

She had hoped her father to at least listen to her words if not forgiving.

"Leave, leave this instant, and never come back!"

Rachel's breathing stopped as she heard her father. Her face looked horrified and disbelief was written all over it.

"Dad?"

"I said leave! Never appear in our life again!"

He turned his face, disgusted to even look at her face. His breathing was starting to get heavy.

He was getting agitated again and Gabriel panicked! She didn't want to gamble with his life!

"Rachel, you heard him. Leave!"

Gabriel's eyes were bloodshot as she eyed Rachel.

Rachel was broken and didn't know what to say anymore.

"I'm sorry... I'm sorry... I'm so sorry."

She muttered to herself as she took a few steps back. Her back hit to the person's solid c.h.e.s.t that was standing behind her, silently.

She turned and saw Aaron standing calmly with no expression on his face. He looked into her eyes directly but she didn't have the courage to do so. She averted her eyes in shame.

"Can you give us a moment? I want to speak to your father."

He spoke gently with so much care as if he was consoling a child. Her heart ached even more.

Nevertheless, she nodded, leaving the ward with a heavy heart.

The feather-like footsteps faded away as the door to the ward got closed behind his back.

"Auntie, can I speak to him for a minute?"

He was polite, not rude at all. He was well-educated and well-brought-up to understand his position and the importance of not speaking up during the breakouts. She would have appreciated the man in front of her if it was another time. But now, in her eyes, he was the sole reason for her daughter to go against her father.
