An Inevitable Fate?

Chapter 49 - 49: There's no future for us. (12)

"Avery?!" Jane shook her hand in front of Avery's face.

Avery jolted and came back to her senses. Seeing that everyone was starring at her, she blushed.

"Hello," She spoke in her best sweet voice while tucking a strand of hair behind her ears.

'Oh, poor girl! Oh, poor boy, Alan!' Jane sighed.

"Guys, let's go!" She clapped and urged them to leave.

"To where?" Edwin asked excitedly.

"To have some fun. She's new here and I am her only friend. Well, excluding you both. So, I want to take her out."

After this, she gave a warning look that said 'Don't you dare object'.

"Oh, then as her friends, we need to show her around. Right, Ren?"

Ren darted a look but didn't say anything. Even though Ren didn't hang out with new people easily, he still followed them as he wasn't in the best mood lately. He needed a change.

All four of them decided to go to a club and left college. On the way, Jane texted her so-called\ friend, Allan.

[Jane: Be there in 45 minutes, else you will lose your chance.]

Within a second, a reply came to her.

[Alan: I won't miss it.]

Jane smirked and kept her phone inside. Thanks to Alan's constant effort in pursuing her which made her finally accept him as her friend.

He had done almost everything for her to forgive him. Like, he had followed her everywhere, college, home, etc. Every evening, after college, he waited outside to apologize. The gifts and the snacks he had given couldn't be counted. Almost every day, he did one or the other thing to be on her good side.

Jane knew he was doing all these things for his crush's sake, but his sincerity made her heart go soft and finally, she gave in. Later, when the matter was solved, she introduced him to Edwin and Ren, just like she did with Avery.

She remembered how her friends had greeted him. They had said,

Edwin: He is your friend, now? This mentally retarded person?

Alan: Excuse me??!!

Jane: Edwin, no!

Edwin: No? He's not your friend?

Jane: Yes, he is!

Ren: Yes that he's mentally retarded?

Jane: ...

Alan: ...

They both had roasted Alan like anything. Thank god, Alan had not cried due to their verbal harassment.

Today would be their first hangout all together and she couldn't be more excited.

After a half an hour of car drive, they reached the club. Though it was still evening, the club was completely packed.

They made their way and sat in a quiet corner. Each one of them ordered their drinks and sat there, enjoying the loud music. Soon, their drinks were supplied.

As they were speaking, Alan came up to them, almost panting.

"Hey, guys!"

He was dressed in a pair of black jeans and a white shirt along with a black leather jacket. He looked like a perfect party-boy.

"Hey, it's the delivery guy!" Edwin teased.

Alan froze, hearing his words. What the heck? Delivery guy?

"Edwin, enough," Jane warned him.

Her friend was ruining Alan's image in front of his crush. First of all, Avery had become Ren's fan. From that time, she hadn't even seen other guys in the club.

Alan sat next to Jane, glaring at her friends who were sitting in front of them.

"Avery, this is Alan. Alan, this is Avery, my friend." Jane "introduced" them.

For the love of god, Avery finally shifted her eyes from Ren, saw Alan and smiled. Alan's heart almost stopped from it.

"Hey," He didn't mean to whisper!

"Hello," And... Avery turned her head.

Alan's love bubbles got busted then and there itself. He turned to his savior and tugged at Jane's pullover.

'Help me!' was written all over his face. She patted his hand and started.

"You like to dance?" Jane asked Avery in a low voice.

"Mm, no." She was the type to sit and enjoy.

"Guys, wanna dance?" Jane stood up and clapped. This was the chance!

No one reacted. Ren continued to drink. Edwin raised an eyebrow. Alan, sigh, gave a you-are-mad-for-sure look.

Jane: ...

She smacked her head and cursed inwardly.

'Why are they so dumb? Wait, Alan is dumb! Couldn't he understand that I am allowing him to be with her? I hate him! I hate them all!'

She signaled Edwin and Ren to join her. Without waiting for them, she stepped on the dance floor.

Without any other option, they both followed her. Edwin joined her while Ren just stood near the bar, sipping his drink.

But, suddenly, he saw a random guy hooking his arm around Jane's waist and pulling her to him.

Before Edwin could react, Ren went up and pulled Jane away from him.
