An Inevitable Fate?

Chapter 37 - 37: Let's be friends. (5)

Seeing the familiar figure walking out of the restroom, Jane nearly fainted with happiness. She sent a thousand-year worth of prayings to the god.

As she strode towards the table, she saw the lonely figure eating by itself. Tsk, what a pity.

"Hey!"

As usual, Jane greeted enthusiastically.

The girl was quite taken aback by the sudden greeting.

"Hey,"

"Mind if I join?" Jane didn't wait for her approval as she directly sat opposite to her.

"Well, you already did, haha," The girl laughed awkwardly.

"Sorry for barging in without notice. I'm Jane, Nice to meet you,"

"Avery," She gently shook her hand.

There was a moment of silence before Jane decided to brake the news.

"Okay, I didn't have any other option but to follow you. I like you and I want you-"

"Wait!" Avery raised her hand to stop Jane from speaking.

"Hear me out, I want to be-"

"I'm not that type!"

"... ?"

Avery clarified without any further delay.

"I'm sorry but I'm not into girls. You might have liked me but I can't return those feelings for you. You will find a 'right' person in the future."

Avery spoke everything in a single breath. She was beautiful after all, suiters were common for her. But this time, it was a... girl. She wasn't a lesbian and she believed that she needed to explain herself.

She expected Jane to get dejected and sorrowful but, it didn't seem like that. She was merely staring with a puzzled look. What happened?

"Which language are you speaking? Speak in English! NORMAL ENGLISH!"

Jane had enough. What was with this girl? Why was she spouting nonsense!

"I am."

"Then how come I don't understand a single word?" Jane was simply clueless.

Avery decided to be straightforward.

"I'm not lesbian."

"And, I am?"

"You aren't?" Avery blinked her cute little doe-eyes.

"WTF!"

"I thought you were lesbian because you said you liked me and asked me to be your girlfriend."

Yeah? How come she was not aware of this?

"Damn it, for the f.u.c.k.i.n.g f.u.c.k's sake, I was about to tell that I want to be friends. Lesbian? Girlfriend... Stop your wild imagination, will you?"

Jane was amused by this girl's thinking. She bet there was no other genius who could think as far and as fast as Avery. Her thinking speed was, even more, faster than the speed of light. Crazy!

"Oh, haha, it's like that. Haha!"

Avery was all red with embarrassment. She wished she could dig a hole and bury her body inside. She couldn't have looked more idiotic than now in her whole life-time.

"Yeah, so I want to be friends with you. Also, you are new to this place, having me as your friend will help you. what do you think?"

Avery contemplated over this. After all, Jane was a stranger. She had asked for the restaurant address before as she wasn't familiar with the place and Jane had genuinely helped her. She was here for the vacation, all by herself. So, having a friend would indeed help her. Upon that, Jane felt like an easy-going person with a lively attitude.

While Avery's thoughts were running, Jane waited patiently. She had time to all by herself and she wasn't in any rush. Once this girl agrees then, her plan would be successful. She only needed to say yes and...

"Sure, let's be friends."

Gotcha!

The next day, Rachel finished her work early and left the building as she needed to meet the builders of the project.

She had not driven her car today and hence had to hail a cab to the address given by her manager.

After half an hour, she reached a familiar place. It was the same club she had visited back then with Darren to meet his friends.

She didn't take fancy about clubs but, because of work, she had to do it. She reluctantly went inside and gave the builder's name to one of the helpers.

Soon after, she was led to a private room on the second floor. She knocked twice before entering.

Inside the room, four men were sitting on the sofa with drinks in their hands. They immediately stopped the discussion when they saw Rachel.

"Come in, you must be Rachel?" One of the men, dressed in a black suit asked her.

"Hello." She smiled which didn't reach her eyes.

"Have a seat, Miss Rachel." The other person spoke.

There were two sofas in that room which were already occupied by four men. Hah! There was no place for her to sit yet they had offered one.

"Thank you but I'm fine, sir."

Remembering her manager's words and their company's situation, she fought back her anger and held the urge to leave the place.
