An Inevitable Fate?

Chapter 35 - 35: Let's be friends. (3)

"The blueprint is correct, but they are not building according to the plan. Have you visited the site before? It's a land converted from a lake. They are building upon that. The government had allowed building only eight floored apartment. How in the world did they make it nine? Do you have any idea what the consequences would be? What would our company be going to face if anything happens?"

An uneasiness crept inside her. Of course, she knew what they would be facing if anything happens to that building. It was not just any building, it was an apartment having 128 houses. If really something happened then...

She shook her head immediately. She didn't dare to think also.

"Sir, I will contact the builder and -"

"I have already done that. You go meet them tomorrow evening and report the situation to me."

She nodded before walking out of the room with a heavy heart. As she felt suffocated, she went to the resting area for some fresh air.

She stood near the glass window, thinking about the project. Even after thinking like for some ages, she couldn't find a solution.

How did it turn out like this? Why was she careless? She felt like hitting her head to the wall and, she did so.

Ouch! It hurts.

"Are you checking if the walls are strong?" A cheerful voice rang behind her while she was rubbing her forehead.

She turned and saw Steve standing with his hands in the pant pockets. He leisurely walked towards her in his leather shoes.

"What are you doing here?" He threw his hand over her shoulder carelessly.

"Nothing much." He sensed her tone.

"What's wrong?" He questioned seriously.

"Nothing... I'm just hungry. Let's go have lunch?" She changed the topic immediately.

Steve understood that she didn't want to speak about the matter. Though he was slightly disappointed for her not sharing, nevertheless, he went along with her.

The time was around 4 pm and the traffic was hectic. The main road was jammed due to some minor crash between two cars. Both the parties were arguing, nonstop.

Inside the car, Alan was sitting in the driver seat, tapping on the steering wheel occasionally. He glanced at the watch and g.r.o.a.n.e.d frustratedly.

He had an appointment with one of the photographers for his studio but, here he was, stuck in the traffic jam. Ugh!

He was simply glancing across the street with his shades on and a luxurious mall came in his sight of the glance.

Actually, what caught his attention was, the girl standing near the entrance, holding two shopping bags. She wore washed-out jeans with a white, hello-kitty pullover. Along with a pair of black Nike shoes, she looked like a tom-boy. She looked like she was waiting for someone.

It was none other than Jane.

"What is she doing here?" Alan mumbled to himself.

But suddenly, a slender figure walked towards Jane, holding a shopping bag. She had worn a warm yellow color knee-length dress. Her golden-brown hair was braided sideways and a small chain elevated her appearance.

Though she looked young, she emitted a m.a.t.u.r.e and refined aura. The word elegance and aesthetic were written all over her body.

Alan sat there in a daze, seeing the beauty. His mouth was wide open and he forgot to blink as well. After a long time, the one word that came out of his mouth was,

"Wow!"

He was completely blown away by her beauty. He had many girlfriends before but this was the first time he felt a strong attraction. From the start to the end, his gaze had never left her.

There was some weird sensation in his heart. He felt butterflies in his stomach.

Omg! Was it a... love at first sight?

Aww, he wanted to meet her, speak to her. He wanted to become close to her. Finally, the d.e.s.i.r.e took over him.

He opened the car door and walked towards her without hesitation.

Poor car was abandoned by its master in the middle road!

As he crossed the road and was about to reach them, the girl walked away from Jane and in a blink of an eye, she disappeared.

He frantically searched the surrounding but unfortunately, he couldn't find her at all. It was as if she had disappeared into a thin air.

His face saddened and his mood became damp. He missed her just in a second. He blamed himself for being in a daze before.

But then, he remembered that the girl was speaking to Jane before leaving. He turned and indeed, saw Jane standing in the same spot as before.

He rushed towards her like she was the only savior on earth. Well, logically, she was!

He directly went and stood in front of her, breathing hard.

"Hey," He exclaimed.

Jane wrinkled her face upon seeing the fellow.
