An Inevitable Fate?

Chapter 34 - 34: Let's be friends. (2)

Hearing her reply, Aaron was speechless. Great! He, himself didn't know that he had one secretary. Well, personal secretary.

"Who appointed you?"

"Mr.Kelvin,"

Oh, yeah! Now he remembered! He had only asked Kelvin to pick one. Hmm...

"Sir, I will be leaving now." She left without waiting for his reply.

Aaron chuckled and thought,

'This brat has some attitude issues.'

He was at ease as he had faith in Kelvin's work. He continued browsing the doc.u.ments till evening and wrapped up for that day.

The next day early morning, Rachel dropped Crysta to a five-star hotel for her to stay. No matter how many times she forced her to stay at her house, Crysta didn't listen. She insisted on staying in the hotel.

Without any other option, Rachel could only heed to her decision.

After dropping her friend, Rachel directly went to the office. She had left home early, but still, she was two hours late to the reporting time.

She hastily scanned her employee ID and walked towards the lift.

As it was past the reporting time, there were fewer employees around. After a few seconds lift got opened and Rachel entered.

The lift was about to close but a hand-blocked it. Two persons entered with a cup of coffee in their hands.

No one greeted each other.

One of the women spoke to the other, "What time is it, Lisa?"

"It's 12 pm."

"Oh my, it's already so late, how come I can still see people checking in?" That person casually glanced towards Rachel.

Rachel felt like a headache coming.

"Sister Freya, you are right. These people think that they are the boss of the company just because of some connections. The company rules are nothing to them. Tsk!"

"Heh, we, the employees work hard to support the company and some people just enjoy the benefits. Sigh! What a disappointment."

At this time, the lift door opened and it was Rachel's floor to get down. She was about to walk out but stopped to turn back.

"I know you want to support the company but you don't have to do it by buying so many coffees from the cafeteria. An increased intake of coffee can dehydrate your body and show up as dullness of skin, rough patches on your face. You don't want to look like an old hag, right?"

She smiled innocently and left.

Inside the elevator, Freya was fuming mad.

"How dare she? How dare she provokes me only? She thinks too highly of herself. Hmph!"

Beside her, Lisa's mouth twitched.

'Wasn't it you who started it?' She mocked inside but didn't show it on her face.

They both were working under the team B section. Freya was her project manager. So, it goes without a saying that she would support her manager irrespective of anything.

Most of the time, team A and B would get into conflicts due to the projects and Freya, was a worthy opponent for Rachel.

She was famous for her ill-tempered nature but also, she was recognized for her excellent work. Hence staff members never went against her.

No one dared to do so except... Rachel. Rachel would always drive her mad by leaving her speechless every time.

Rachel entered her room and sat down in the chair, exhausted. She took a few breaths to calm her nerves but was interrupted by a phone call.

Ah! She wanted to cry for some time.

"Hello," She answered after clearing her throat.

"I need you in my office right now." After that, the phone went dead.

She frowned but still, she obliged. After all, she was an employee here.

Knock, knock, knock,

"Come in," A male voice echoed from inside the room.

She hesitated a second before walking inside.

"Sir, you called me?"

The man looked up with a complicated expression on his face. He adjusted his spectacles and eyed her.

Rachel waited patiently for the other person to speak.

But all of a sudden, that man threw a file in front of her and raised his voice. This action startled her as she had not expected it.

"This is?" She bent over to pick up the file.

"Whom did you ask before starting this project?" His voice was cold.

He was the manager of the company and he was in charge of every project.

"Sir, you have personally signed this file."

Was he blind? He couldn't identify his own signature?

"I can see that!"

Then?

"The data in this file says one thing and the building being built says the other. How did this happen?"

What!

"Sir, you are saying that they have... tampered the information?"

"Are you dumb? Can't you tell?"

"But the blueprint they submitted..."

"Of course, the blueprint is correct." He was fuming mad.
