A Second Life

Chapter 20 - Day 3

Nezu was staring at his mobile's screen. His inbox, specifically. He just got a message. And not many people sent him messages. The cheese factory did send him some messages from time to time, his publisher, etc. Essentially, he got very few texts.

And the man or mouse didn't expect to receive a text from a student. Azumi Sumire.

It baffled him no end. It's because nobody knows his personal phone number. Well, he did call her yesterday, but his number was private. With All Might tier security.

So how on earth did this girl manage to know his number? He was intrigued. Hell lot frustrated too. It took him great self-control to stop himself from questioning her right now. He still had to maintain the act of an amicable principal. Otherwise, he might scare the first years. They were inevitably and relatively fragile compared to the rest of the student body.

Sighing, he read the message.

[I just managed to break into the school.]

He blinked. Then stayed silent. Then laughed like the biblical sociopath he wasn't.

The unfortunate people who heard his maniacal laughter were on high alert. Someone was going to be unlucky…

In the 1-A classroom…

Aizawa started his class. He handed out some papers to everyone. It turned out to be the evaluation for yesterday's battle trial. Despite his questionable appearance as a teacher, he was quite diligent. Do not underestimate the guy who looks like a homeless vagabond who escaped from a rehab facility. It would come back and bite you when you're eating churros.

"Always planning on destroying your arm, Midoriya? If you keep going, "I can't adjust my quirk so I have no choice." You'll never get terribly far. I've said it before. Don't make me say third time. Once you've cleared that hurdle, you'll be much more flexible, so I need to see some sweat out of you, Midoriya."

He said. Looking at a certain broccoli.

But Midoriya sweats more than Bakugou. And hey, Bakugou's quirk is all about precipitating.

"YESSIR!" Midoriya declared earnestly.

After some more suggestions and remarks Aizawa's face was somewhat grave. He was dead serious as he said these words:

"Now, Let's get on with the homeroom notices… I'm sorry to have to spring this on you all, but..." He paused for dramatic effect and to strain nerves of the, poor little lambs.

"....WE NEED TO PICK A CLA.S.S PRESIDENT." he said. In all honesty it felt like he was announcing the dissolution of the school.

And the result… class full of clamoring students. And Sumire couldn't sleep anymore because of that.

"Hey, what's going on?" She asked her desk mate while stifling a yawn.

"We've gotta pick a class president." Bakugou answered casually.

"Oh… I see. Thanks. I'll go back to sleep."

"What the heck? Seriously, you're gonna go back to sleep? Just like that?"

"Yep. Just like this."

"You're not interested in being class rep?"

"Nah. It'd be a huge pain, and I'm anything but a m.a.s.o.c.h.i.s.t."

"You're… weird."

"You're welcome."

Bakugou somehow felt like a deflated balloon. The position everyone was fighting for wasn't worth a dime in his self proclaimed rival's eyes.

He heard Sonic the Hedgehog (Iida) going on and on about so called elections. The hotheaded boy just got a terrific idea. 'Oh this is going to be fun as hell,' he thought. The perfect villain worthy smile on his face would send shivers through everyone's spines. But alas, he quickly hid it. He turned back and poked the sleepy girl.

"Hey, get up."

"Wat nuv?"

"You gotta vote."

"...You take care of it."

"Fine." 'So far, good.' he thought.

The voting was done. The results were out. They were presented in a descending order.

Azumi Sumire - 4

Midoriya Izuku - 3

Yaoyorozu Momo - 1

Kirishima Eijiro - 1

Kouda Kouji - 0

Todoroki Shouto - 0

Iida Tenya - 0

Uraraka Ochaco - 0

Bakugou Katsuki - 0

Everyone were a bit spooked.

"Zero votes… I see how it is...!" Iida was a bit shocked that no one voted him whatsoever.

"You voted for somebody else…" Yaoyorozu didn't understand.

But it didn't matter at all.

"Ok. Azumi's the president and Midoriya's the vice president. Someone please wake up Azumi."

"Got that. Hey, wake up!" Bakugou glady took the job. Her expression now was going to be priceless and he was going to shoot it all.

"What the hell dude? And what's with you, smiling so brightly? Stop that please, I feel ominous."

"Mr.Aizawa's callin ya."

"...? I just slept…"

"You're the new rep." He said while smiling very cheerfully. It just grew more dazzling as Sumire's face went gloomy.

"I trusted you and this is what you do to me…" She said regretfully.

"Well, payback's a bad bit*h and now we're clear." The boy clearly didn't let bygones be bygones. This was for nearly strangling him.

"Azumi, come here." Aizawa called her.

Sumire walked stiffly on to the podium.

"Do you both have anything to say?" The Erasure hero asked the two people who were clearly not adapting to the situation well.

"F-F-For real…?" Midoriya just stood there, shaking like a leaf.

"Can I quit?" Azumi asked solemnly.

"No, you can't. It's decided. Once again, Azumi is the class president and Midoriya is vice president. Class dismissed. Go have your lunch and we can discuss things later."

Something told Sumire that the man was clearly enjoying this. Well, Aizawa was sadistic. Pot. Kettle. She had no right to say anything.

Lunch break. In the cafeteria…

"Wipe that smirk off your face, Kacchan~ It's annoying me."

"Bear with it, Freak."

"Oh really? How about I just dislocate your jaw?"

"No you won't. There are too many people watching. And you don't want to get into any trouble, Class rep." It hit a nerve.

"Try me." Sumire indeed wanted to do it. But then, the siren came to Bakugou's rescue.

"Security three has been breached. All the students evacuate to the rooftop." An evacuation order was passed. It was the start of something like The Rush.

"What the hell is going on?" Bakugou yelled as the chaos ensured. Every student was roaming around like headless chickens. Some were even having panic attacks.

Sumire just sighed at the situation. She knew this was bound to happen but…

"Bakugou-kun, make a huge blast." Sumire urged the boy. He looked at her for a second and recognized her intentions.

"Damn I will." He stood on top of the table and raised his arm. After gathering some sweat in his palms, he made a huge blast in the air. It was loud enough to stop everyone in their tracks and look at him.

Sumire mouthed a quick thank you to the boy and started speaking to the crowd which seemed to have regained a bit of their sanity.

"Everyone. Do not panic. Please remember that we are in UA, and the school is protected by many pro heroes, including All Might. Nothing a single intruder can deal with."

Her words managed to quieten the crowd. All Might's name works wonders. Everyone were waiting for what she would say next.

She took another deep breath and said.

"Class reps of each class, please gather your classmates and direct them to the evacuation zone. Class 1-A, come here!"

Order replaced chaos and no further accidents happened. Different classes were separated into groups and exited one by one.

Class 1-A gathered at one place. Sumire looked at Iida and spoke to him.

"Iida-kun, there are few missing. If you can, please check the bathrooms and such and gather them . Retreat if you must, immediately."

"Yes, no problem." He replied and 'engined' away.

Then, the rest of the class moved towards the exit. Sumire found Iida and few others already there, waving at them. She smiled and stood there.

Soon, the homeroom teachers escorted their students back to their respective classes. On the way, they were informed that it was one of the reporters who broke in.

***

Inside the class…

"Alright. Let's choose the other class officers." Sumire said to her classmates.

"Em...Can I say something before that?" Midoriya stuttered/interrupted with considerable courage.

"Sure, go ahead, Midoriya-kun."

"Thank you very much. I think… that Iida-kun is more suited to be the vice class president than me! He was cool back then…"

Iida stood up, utterly shocked. More so, when everyone agreed to it.

He earnestly declared he would live up to it.

"Then, can I suggest someone else to change my duty as well?" Sumire once again tried to back off from the role of class rep. To her, it was nothing but trouble. Consider what happened today, intruders. Tomorrow, who knows? They might have to face an attack from the villains. And she was not interested in it at all. She came here with a goal in her mind. She didn't want unnecessary burdens on top of it.

"No you cannot. The role of class rep can't be swapped that easily. Now hurry up and finalize it." Aizawa shouted from his sleeping bag.

"Sigh… Alright, let's go back to selecting who's responsible for other duties, shall we?" She was not going to embarrass herself any further. Even though everything was forced upon her...
