A Second Life

Chapter 21 - Played

NOTE: Language's gonna be downright rude sometimes in this chapter.

After school…

Bakugou was waiting outside the school. As a result, whoever looked at him received some glares from the anti-social violent hero in making.

Even Midoriya didn't have enough guts to ask him why he was waiting, and if possible, for who? Well, the broccoli would never know. It would take him some more time and much more guts to stand up and ask the porcupine without stuttering or having a panic attack.

Anyway, after 30 minutes, Bakugou's waiting came to an end as Sumire walked into his vicinity.

"Did you just wait for me?" The girl asked, feeling genuinely surprised.

"And you have any problem with that?" The ash blonde retorted.

"No. I certainly didn't think someone would wait for me. Especially you. As you seem to still hold some grudges against me."

"Well, it was cleared today. You nearly strangled me and I set you up. We're even."

"Really? You say that so honourably, but in fact you are nothing but a traitorous b*stard."

"Look whose colours are showing." He snorted.

"I never hid, Kacchan~" Sumire just shrugged.

"Quit with that stupid nickname, you Freak! And stop lying like it's the truth."

"You first stop calling me a 'freak' then."

"But you are one, it suits you so damn well."

"Kacchan suits you likewise."

"Tsk. Anyway… why the hell are you so late?"

"I never asked you to wait for me."

Bakugou stopped in his tracks and looked at her.

"Just say you don't want to tell me."

"You're quite perceptive."

"I know that."

"So you are not going to ask again?"

"I freaking know how to respect privacy."

"That's new."

"Shut up, Freak."

"Did I just hit a nerve?"

"You're ungrateful. Stop bothering and walk with your damn mouth shut."

"Bite me."

Idle chatter ensured along way and. Mostly some taunts exchanged, before they escalated into something… which is unpresentable for everyone under 17, so it's not shown. Kacchan is the Angst King after all.

Bakugou silently entered his house. He was lucky that his parents were not home yet. Maybe they had to an extra shift or something. The point is, Bakugou was spared form Mitsuki's interrogation - why are you so late you damn Brat? One thing that can actually scare Bakugou Katsuki is his own mother. Mitsuki is a woman of terrifying talents after all.

Sumire is no better. Her matron didn't say a word but the same could not be said when it comes to certain individuals.

"Why are you late?" A petite figure asked. She tried to sound intimidating but alas, her cuteness never let it happen.

"I had some errands to take care of, Kiyoko-chan." Sumire patiently answered. It was a routine to them.

"What errands?"

"Just some errands."

"Just some errands and you are whole 30 minutes late."

"They were urgent."

"...Fine. Don't be late next time."

"Roger that. So can I go hit the showers now? Or you need to ask me some more?" Sumire asked with a smile as she stroked the little girl's head.

"You can go." The little girl said with a pout.

Shower, training and shower again, then supper and homework. This is Sumire's daily schedule. Now Sumire had some free time before she slept.

She opened her laptop and entered a bunch of code into it.

Soon, a chat window appeared. It went on like this:

Reaper: Are you there?

Teresa: I'm here!

Reaper: Teresa? Really? Couldn't you find a better name? Teresa and Terrance, what's the difference between them?

Teresa: One's masculine and the other's feminine. And it's way better than Reaper.

Reaper: Don't bother. Now, are you sure about what you said before?

Teresa: Yep. I'm pretty sure.

Reaper: Things just get worse.

Teresa: They always do, but the sweetheart tell me. Why exactly would someone who I suspect to be villains, break into UA?

Reaper: IDK

Teresa: Fess up, hon.

Reaper: I'm unsure about it. Honestly, I just hope this would be some sick joke.

Teresa: It might not be, love. I really did find something. And it isn't reassuring me at all.

Reaper: ...I understand.

Teresa: How about you stay out of this one?

Reaper: In that case, all the effort we put in would be for naught. No one should suspect us. So no, not possible.

Teresa: It's still better than you getting in danger.

Reaper: Are we going to have this talk now? C'mon, we've come past this!

Teresa: Yes, we did, and I'm pretty sure it doesn't involve you getting in any life threatening situations.

Reaper: No, I'm not, and you know that very well.

Teresa: You don't comprehend the complexity of the matter.

Reaper: I do. It's just some random thugs from what you said.

Teresa: Exactly, from what I said 'before'. What I discovered now, shifts things to a whole new level.

Reaper: Then tell me.

Teresa: ...It's not just some random thugs trying to break into UA.

Reaper: I know that much on my own.

Teresa: Someone covered them up.

Reaper: What?

Teresa: It was all very easy. Some reporters break in and steal the information about UA.

Reaper: You gotta be kidding me. There were some intruders but there's no news about theft.

Teresa: There was. A minor one. Tomorrow's timetable.

Reaper: What's the big deal in it? You know the media. They might've just wanted to camp until All Might comes out.

Teresa: At first, I thought so as well. But there's more to it.

Reaper: What do you mean?

Teresa: It made sense.

Reaper: …So?

Teresa: It all made 'perfect sense'. No one would find anything wrong when some lawless reporters broke in and stole All Might's schedule. But it didn't end there.

Reaper: Maybe you are just thinking too much.

Teresa: I wish it was true, but it's not. The reporter shared it with someone.

Reaper: What? Why would anyone do it?

Teresa: I wanted to know that too, so I followed the traces.

Reaper: What did you find?

Teresa: You won't believe me. It was passed to thirteen different people. Initially, it didn't make any sense at all. The reporter just sent a copy to another mobile, his daughter's, for safety. We all know what happens if this gets out. Then it was accidentally distributed before getting deleted in a group. Like that, it all seemed to be a coincidence. Until it struck the hands of someone named Giran.

Reaper: Giran, as in the B-rank villain in the underworld?

Teresa: Yes and it just got worse. He actually orc.h.e.s.trated this entire incident. He manipulated and brought this info for a high price.

Teresa: And that's not the end of it. He deleted it.

Reaper: What? Why go through all the trouble then? Unless it was by mistake or may be he...!

Teresa: Yes, it was to disguise it as a mistaken message. But in reality he passed the information to someone else, and then I couldn't find out who.

Reaper: There's actually someone who you can't find?

Teresa: Obviously, there isn't. After some wiretapping, I got to know who it was.

Reaper: Who was it?

Teresa: ...It would be really good if you don't know.

Reaper: You tell me or else I'll find it by myself, though I'm not as skilled as you are.

Teresa: That's why I'll tell you… but I'm not really sure. A part of me still hopes this was all a sick joke like you wanted.

Reaper: We don't take chances.

Teresa: And that's why I don't want you to get into this mess.

Reaper: It's not like I have a choice! I go to UA and I freaking joined a Hero course! We stayed low all this time just all for this one chance! And no way in hell am I f*cking take any risks!

Teresa: You don't understand! A villain gathered some info to attack you guys! You might get killed!

Reaper: Stop acting like you don't know me! I can handle few villains with ease.

Teresa: That is if you're giving your all!

Reaper: I can maintain my cover and stay alive!

Teresa: You're not getting it! It's not just some small fries! I don't even dare to think about it!

Reaper: Nii-san. Be honest with me.

Teresa: Sigh… Andy. There are too many people involved in this matter.

Reaper: Who?

Teresa: ...All for one.

Reaper: Isn't he dead?! How?

Teresa: Domura Ujiko.

Reaper: That b*stard is still alive?

Teresa: Yes.

Teresa: And that's why I don't want you to be in any part of this. Take a sick leave or something. Do whatever it needs to be done. Them knowing that you are alive is the last thing I want to happen.

Reaper: No. In fact, I'm going to be there by all costs.

Teresa: Andy! Are you nuts?!

Reaper: No, in fact I'm very calm. Think about it, the more I hide, the more suspicion I draw.

Teresa: All of them believe you are dead. If they find anything -

Reaper: 'He' knows I'm alive.

Teresa: Wh-What the hell?

Reaper: All this time, he had us wrapped in his fingers, brother. In fact, 10 years ago, he let us live.

.

.

.

.

Reaper and Teresa chatted for a little more.

Reaper: This plan will work out just fine. What do you think?

Teresa: You are really nuts.

Reaper: I'm a to-be Hero. Craziness is a prerequisite.

Teresa: Sigh… How did Yuzu agree to any of this... plan and news?

Reaper: Oh, Yuzu nii doesn't know anything.

Teresa: You've gotta be kidding me!

Reaper: No. You are the first person to know.

Teresa: Gosh darn you mommy fudger.

Reaper: Hey, I just confirmed it right now, so naturally you are the first person to know.

Teresa: More like I'm the scapegoat for your bats*** crazy plan! And OMG! Yuzu will- Yuzu will ...!

Reaper: He would atmost maim or torture you. Don't worry, I'll support you when it's all over.

Teresa: If I'm alive by the time, it's over! Because before that Shinzo would freaking hack me into ….AHH! My life!

Reaper: Don't worry, I'll be there for you.

Teresa: You sound fake as f***!

Reaper: Let's talk about my sincerity later. Deliver the stuff I asked you to. And don't even think of ditching me. You are too deep in trouble already.

Teresa: ...yeah. Sucks to be a brother to a devil of a sister. You clearly don't care about me anymore.

Reaper: Stop whining like a wuss and do your job. If we screw this up, we are royally f*****.

Teresa: Like we are not.

Reaper: Farewell, niisan. Hope you take care of the things on your side soon.

Teresa: Hey, Andy! Wait up! We need to talk more!

Teresa: Andy!

Teresa: My sweet little imouto, please show yourself!

Teresa: Andy! You get your a.s.s right here this instant.

Teresa: Please! Sister I beg you!

Sumire closed her laptop waited for a while. Then she opened it again and cracked the mainframe of UA. And did some fiddling here and there and scooted away. No one managed to detect her of course. She was the former lieutenant of the 12th division. Which means she has God Level Computer skills. Remember how Captain Kurotsuchi liked to stalk on everyone? Technology, something Sumire is damn familiar with.

She cast a kido spell to cloak her and went to the place where she usually trains.

She searched around and obtained what she was looking for. A metal briefcase. She grabbed the case. It had a note included with it. The handwriting was something she was extremely familiar with. It said:

"Dear Andy,

Please do not do anything more outrageous than we have discussed.

With care, Terrance."

"I'll try." She whispered to herself and went back to the orphanage.

And as expected, no one knew about this minor incident.
