A Second Life

Chapter 19 - Break into the school

Spring was never unloved. Even the sun shines more beautifully in the sky of Aprils. It was like a billion things all trying to become one for a perfect morning.

But never for little Kiyoko who would eternally hate the concept of waking up from sleep. And hence, every morning, Sumire needs to coax the little one to get up. Coaxing a child may not be that hard, bribing with toys or sweets would mostly do the job.

But those wont work on Kiyoko. She's a kid who can deceive every a.d.u.l.t with an appropriate display of cuteness and innocence. When one thinks about it, she's a scary individual who grasps what she needs to do. As much as Sumire appreciates that, she can't help but be annoyed at the girl for being willful.

"Okay, if you are not waking up this instant, I'll be leaving without you." Sumire said to the girl who was sleeping. Her words worked like magic and a grumpy little voice mumbled.

"It's 7 am. There's a lot of time for me to go." Kiyoko said through a yawn.

"For you and not for me. Since you want to come with me, you better get ready soon."

"Sigh… which idiot thought of starting school in the morning? I'm joining a night school next year."

"..." [I didn't hear anything.]

Two pretty faces walking together was now a familiar sight to Bakugou. He's no longer surprised as before. He joined them without a word.

"Good morning, Bakugou-kun"

"Good morning Spiky."

"Kid, would it hurt you to speak normally?"

"You're in no position to advise on that to me, Spiky. I'm way more polite compared to you." Words from the youngsters these days, usually drip with sarcasm.

"Tsk."

Sumire can only sigh and ignore their little banter, which would get worse by the minute. By the looks of it, it's going to happen every morning.

Sumire dropped Kiyoko and continued walking.

"What the hell is wrong with that brat?" Bakugou asked. He was sure, he didn't do anything to make the kid pick on him.

"She's not exactly a morning person you see."

"Heh. Then why wake up early? It's only 8 now." And her school starts at 9:30.

"She wanted to walk with me."

"Then the kid must be a real pain to deal with."

"Not at all. I cherish her. She's like family to me." Sumire said in all seriousness, and Bakugou noted this in his head. He should not do anything that would make the brat cry. He'd be a goner, if he did. He knows better than to provoke the death goddess Sumire.

When they both were near to UA, Sumire stopped.

"What's wrong?" Bakugou asked.

"Look closer. There's someone near the gates."

Bakugou looked at the school gates literally packed with people. They were all crowding the entrance.

"Who the hell are they? And what the f*** are they doing here? Blocking the way like loonies."

"Media. Now let's not get caught by them."

"Why the hell-" he was cut off by Sumire. She clutched his hand and dragged into the alley. He followed grudgingly.

There, they both jumped over few walls and stopped in front of a staircase.

"Where are we?" Bakugou asked.

"A shortcut. There's a staff exit up here. We can show our IDs and get in."

"Would they let us in?"

"They'd have to. The entrance would be barred by now. They would understand. And look, there's someone behind us, they look like students too. Maybe we all can go together."

It was true. There were indeed somebody, three third year students.

"Hey, I didn't see you around! Who are you? What are you doing here?" A girl with large, peering eyes asked Sumire and Bakugou.

"None of your business." Bakugou replied. He was not in a good mood. He had to suffer insults from a brat, then take a detour and now had to return the questions of some stupid girl.

"Don't mind him. We are both first years, so you might not know us. We came here avoiding the media as well." Sumire answered the questions patiently. They looked older and familiar with the place.

"Haha! Don't worry! Follow us! The media will be here soon!" A cheery blonde who was carved from the Tintin mould spoke.

The two first years bobbed their heads and climbed the stairs. When they reached the door, something strange occurred. The Tintin lookalike passed through the door. While the clothes on him dropped to the ground. And the man opened the door.

"C'mon! Hurry in! The staff would soon notice us!" Said the now n.a.k.e.d man.

Sumire and Bakugou blinked and pretended they as if were not spooked at all. The dark-haired man with hunched shoulders gathered Tintin's clothes and gave it to him.

Tintin started wearing clothes in front of others like it's no big deal to him.

Getting inside the building, the girl once again started bombarding the freshmen with questions.

"Hey there, I'm Hado Nejire, a third year. Nice to meet ya! You said you both were first years right? How did you find this way? Mirio found it when he was wandering around! How do you think you could get in here? Tell me!" Hado asked zealously.

"Yep, I'm curious! Do you also have quirk similar to me? I'm Togata Mirio." Togata asked with sparkling eyes and a smile to bright to look straight.

"No, not at all." Sumire frantically answered while shaking her head, as she gradually regained her cool. Bakugou was in recovery, so he couldn't curse.

"Oh, then how were you going to get in? The room has a staff-only access." Togata asked, a bit intrigued.

"It's possible to get in through the student pass in case of emergency."

"...you can do that?" The guy who apparently loved silence finally spoke.

"Indeed. But you need to inform your homeroom teacher, though. Otherwise, we'll be getting an earful."

"Oh." Togata looked enlightened. From the looks of it, they never thought of doing it that way.

All is said and done, UA liked to leave certain things unsaid. And since Nezu was a fan of logic and deceit (and downright sadist), he left many loopholes for the students to exploit. But it never happened as all the other teachers had a hidden agenda to never let any student know about them.

Before long, they came across the first year building.

"It was pleasant meeting you, senpai. I'm Azumi Sumire and this Bakugou Katsuki. We'll be taking our leave now. Excuse us."

Sumire bowed and dragged away the somewhat eerily silent Bakugou with her. Thankfully, there's still some time left before the classes started. Sumire looked back to see the explosive boy who remain silent.

"Bakugou-kun, are you there?" She waved at his face. It managed to bring Bakugou back to earth again.

"Did we just freaking break into our own school?" Bakugou asked, feeling a little dazed.

"Nope, I informed the security on the way. It's taken care of." Sumire flashed an innocent smile like she was. Bakugou just scowled at her and replied nothing.

"How did you manage to come here?" Some chirpy voice of a girl exclaimed, but there was no one to be seen. They both searched for the source of voice, but they found no one. Except a bag and uniform standing in the mid air.

"What the hell?" Bakugou screamed as he mistook Hagakure for a ghost.

"We snuck in without anyone detecting us, Hagakure-san." Sumire said casually.

"Wow! That's brilliant! I had to remove my clothes to get in, you know!"

"Haha." Sumire laughed weakly at that. While Bakugou was glad that he didn't have to witness someone stripping in the morning again. Girl or not, stripping was not good for his mental health.

Not much longer, the rest of the class came in with a not-so happy Aizawa. They were surprised to see someone inside.

Elsewhere, the three students who came along with Sumire were standing in front of Hound Dog.

He was scolding them for breaking in. Again. Period. This was clearly not the first time they did it.

"Grr! How many times do I have to tell you guys not to break in to the school? At least, inform me! Don't try sneaking into the class right away like you did nothing wrong!"

Hound Dog was unhappy. He was the guidance counselor. But that didn't mean he'd have to deal with teenage mischief.

The three students assured him they would not repeat it. But no one would believe them.

Coming out from his office, Nejire started pouting.

"Hey chicken-san! Don't chicken out next time!" She huffed at her friend.

"It's alright, Nejire! You know Tamaki isn't good with the crowds. We'll not get caught next time!" Mirio flashed a smile.

"Yeah, yeah. But what about those two first years? Why aren't they called in with us?"

The three of them were puzzled. How did two freshmen manage to pull off this stunt without getting caught?

Well, they didn't know that Sumire had Nezu's phone number with her. And how she gave a bold message to him.

"I just managed to break into the school." Was the text message she sent.

(And anyone can do it.) was the real intention she wanted to convey.
