Without Me

Chapter 22 - A Mysterious Man

After the call, the man sitting in the comfortable armchair on the veranda laughed devilishly, before putting down the phone. But it was not a pleasant smile, this smile carried with it the threat of death so intense, that the other man, who was waiting in the study wiped sweat from his forehead.

He was more than anyone aware of the significance of this laughter - his master was absolutely furious. He looked at his master, and knew that soon someone's blood will be pouring.

The evening breeze above the ocean carried with it a scent of salt, when gently c.a.r.e.s.sed the long black hair of the man. And the dim light coming from inside the room made his face hidden in the shadows, which gave him a mysterious and antique look. Anyone who knew him knew that behind this flawless smile was a murderous intention.

"Snake" the man spoke with his magnetic, lazy voice that could be heard even despite the loud noise of the ocean waves bouncing against rocks a few hundred meters below.

The man, named 'Snake' came closer, but he dared not go over the veranda, without his master's permission.

"What are your orders, boss?" He asked, bowing his head respectfully.

"Find out what the media confusion associated with Li Ye Han" he ordered without turning back. "Do you know how to deal with it?"

"Of course."

The man nodded in contentment. Then he spoke again, but his expression deepened. He gazed into the distance without moving, but his mind was in a completely different place, far beyond the endless ocean stretching almost at his feet. It seemed that the longer he looked at some unspecified point, the longer he saw some terrifying scene. He looked as if he was ready to kill in a moment, though in reality no one else was there.

"And send the Shadow Group to investigate the case related to Yao Xi and her accident three months ago."

'Snake' drew a deep breath with a whistle.

The boss wanted to use the shadow group for something so banal ?! The world has gone crazy! No, the boss is crazy!

Who was this group? It was the most talented group of people in espionage and assassination, trained in secret by the Teacher who founded the Organization! Later, when he died, he gave power to his adopted son, who was standing on the veranda at this moment. They infiltrated the president of country J several years ago and killed his entire family, not saving even two children who could then have been around for five years! Everything under the leadership of the Teacher.

Over the past few years, the organization grew in the underworld on a global scale, spreading terror among mafia families on every continent. There was never a more powerful mafia. And the Shadow Group was the most elite and the most mysterious lethal weapon, appointed only for the highest rank tasks.

How can the Boss send his best people, whose existence was urgently hidden for something like that ?!

"Boss, that ..." 'Snake' could not choose the right words. He wanted to make sure his master knew what he was saying. Maybe something was wrong with him? No, it was better to say that he himself had heard wrong. Yes, for sure! Before he could make sure, however, his boss asked his thunderous voice: "Do you have any problems with your ears? If so, cut them off. "

"N- No. I understood. " 'Snake' stammered with fear, while going back to the very door of the office.

He was too attached to his ears, in order to lose it because of his too-long tongue. 'Snake' knew that if he stayed there for a while, Boss would not spare him.

'Snake' escaped almost at the speed of light, afraid to anger more his master.

A fire was dying in a bulky fireplace. Small flames were shimmering from the salt with shades of green and blue, from wood thrown over the ocean.

The man was still standing in the same place, with his hands behind his back. He looked like a statue, even his eyelashes remained motionless as he looked into the threatening crests of the waves glittering with a silvery glow.

The quiet night sky was lit by a single lightning, and a few moments later a heavy rain fell in the sky like a shimmering curtain. A loud roar of waves bouncing off the cliff wall on which the villa stood predicted the arrival of a storm.

But the man remained in his seat, as if unaware that his clothes had become heavier with large drops. A cold wind whipped his face, and long black hair clung to his face under the influence of rain.

His face, hidden in the shade, showed no emotion, but the aura that enveloped him resembled a coming storm, which in its climax would consume everything that happened in its path, into the deep abyss of the darkest ocean.
