6. It was disgusting and let’s never see each other again

Jang Tae-san’s mood has been very good lately. Even more so now that the problem that had plagued him day and night had been resolved. He would smile like he had no worries and appeared happy all the time.

Jang Tae-san had an unruly subordinate. He was useful but had a shitty personality and did not listen to him. Even though he was a low rank, he was a precious mental ability awakener, and he had no idea that Jang Tae-san had spoiled him all this time.

Then, it wasn’t long before his high self-esteem crumbled. Like many of his subordinates, he had no choice but to listen to Jang Tae-san in the end.

Han Yi-jin. His parents died after being caught in a gate accident, leaving only Han Yi-jin and his frail younger brother.

However, soon after, his younger brother collapsed from a rare disease. The hospital said there seemed to be a problem with his brain, but that they were not certain. This rare, unknown disease is not getting the attention it deserves from the medical community, which is facing a serious situation after the gate crisis.

Still, Han Yi-jin had to save his only family, so he kept looking for a way to save his younger brother even though he was still young.

In the end, he needed money. The cost of treating rare diseases is very expensive. However, Han Yi-jin’s potential ability was too vague. Although mental ability hunters were rare, their value was not very high. In the end, he had no choice but to visit the guild that was committing illegal acts.

Thus, Jang Tae-san was able to hold onto Han Yi-jin’s leash on the condition that he supported his brother. His ability helped Jang Tae-san’s work tremendously.  At first, Han Yi-jin was a little clumsy, but as time went on, he finished his work neatly. However, Han Yi-jin, who acted as if he would do anything for his brother, became even more disobedient and began to rebel one day.

At first it was trivial. He started grumbling like a child without proper eating habits, and then started swearing. Even the guild members who had suffered greatly from his bad attitude would see Han Yi-jin in an unfavourable light.

Even so, Jang Tae-san never once scolded Han Yi-jin. Instead, he tried to calm him down if he was in a bad mood. If there was a higher mental ability user than Han Yi-jin in the guild, he wouldn’t have coaxed him, but he had no choice but to adjust his mood as much as possible since the possibility of there being such a person was low.

Eventually, Jang Tae-san’s patience ran out when he found out that Han Yi-jin was planning to run away to find his brother’s whereabouts. However, even so, he couldn’t put much pressure on Han Yi-jin.  He just made sure that Han Yi Jin couldn’t leave the room unless he was on duty and assigned a monitor.

However, when something similar happened again, Jang Tae-san couldn’t stand it and called Han Yi-jin to threaten him. He also threatened him not to do anything stupid again because his brother was in his hands. The expression Han Yi-jin made at that time made Jang Tae-san feel refreshed, as if some old problems had been resolved.

He should have done this earlier, but he thought he let it slide too much. Even when he treated him as a precious mental ability awakener, he didn’t know his place. By the time he decided not to let it slide again, Jang Tae-san was surprised to see the tablet.

[I’m Hunter Han Yi-jin from the Loki Guild.]

“What? What did he say?”

Jang Tae-san, who was watching the broadcast of Kang Yoo-hyun’s press conference uninterestedly, hastily raised his body against the seat. He didn’t pay much attention to the news that Kang Yoo-hyun cleared an SS-class dungeon and held a massive press conference. It’s just that the guild leader of the Laufey guild sent Han Yi-jin to the press conference to interrupt Kang Yoo-hyun by making up bullshit to give to the reporters.

However, when an unexpected figure appeared on the screen, his entire body hardened as if he was struck by lightning. It was clearly Han Yi-jin who sat next to Kang Yoo-hyun and answered nervously.  He sent him to interrupt the press conference, but instead, he sat down next to Kang Yoo-hyun and did the interview with him. Jang Tae-san didn’t know what the hell was going on.

[I have an S-class auxiliary skill. It amplifies the subject’s ability.]

“…!”

Jang Tae-san couldn’t even scream at those shocking words. Then, not until he saw Kang Yoo-hyun and Han Yi-jin leave together in the middle of the interview, did he grit his teeth.

“This bastard… How dare he deceive me?”

An angry voice echoed throughout the luxurious foreign car. Due to his busy schedule, he had just checked the press conference broadcast in the car. Not to mention that Han Yi-jin cleared the SS-rank dungeon with Kang Yoo-hyun, he was more annoyed that Han Yi-jin hid the S-class auxiliary skill from him.

A mental skill and an S-level auxiliary skill. It was a rare skill he had never heard of before, which boosted the target’s stats beyond the limit. He’s been hiding this from him all this time. Jang Tae-san’s tightly closed mouth trembled.

“Um, um, Master…”

“What?”

Jang Tae-san frowned at the voice of the secretary in the front seat. He roughly pulled out his bluetooth earphone he had been wearing to watch his tablet and glared at the nervous secretary with his cell phone to his ear.

“It seems that master needs to return to the guild quickly.”

“What do you mean?”

He was still on his way to the meeting, but he looked at the secretary in frustration when he said something nonsensical. Of course it wasn’t an ordinary meeting, it was just a dirty drinking party to ask the association’s boss for illegal favours, but that wasn’t the point.

“The police and members of the association have arrived at the guild.”

“What?”

Looking at the secretary who was trying to answer calmly, Jang Tae-san asked back with a stupid face. The secretary also wanted to know what was going on. The confused voices of the guild members kept leaking from his cell phone, which he let go of for a moment while looking at Jang Tae-san.

Turning around on the road, Jang Tae-san returned to the guild. The Loki Guild’s residence was a large building in the centre of the city, just like the other guilds. As they passed, there were many people gathered in front of an ordinary building that looked like a public company. The unusual sight made Jang Tae-san’s steps quicken. However, just as he was about to enter the guild building, people blocked his way.

“I need you to come with me, Master Jang Tae-san.”

""

“What? Who are you?”

The man calmly opened his mouth as he looked at Jang Tae-san, who was frowning as if he was displeased.

“I am Lieutenant Lee Do Won of the Hunter Special Investigation Unit. You are under arrest for inciting murder and ordering a kidnapping.”

“What kind of bullshit is that!”

“You have the right to remain silent, and to appoint a lawyer.”

Ignoring Jang Tae-san, whose body was spasming as he screamed, the detective who brought the warrant only said what he had to say with an impeccable accent while reciting the Miranda principle, more people approached Jang Tae-san as he did so.

Jang Tae-san could sense it instinctively.  The police surrounding him were all awakened. Since it was a special unit for talented people, all detectives were of high rank. They were hard to get rid of for Jang Tae-san, who was an S class but didn’t have any decent attacking skills.

“Hey, you guys! Do you know who I am? Huh?”

Therefore, he had no choice but to talk in the classic manner. Usually, when he said this, the guild members, who he could’ve killed in an instant, just watched from afar. His loud and angry voice immediately disappeared into the special unit police car.

***

You were disgusting, let’s not see each other again.

I muttered to myself as I watched Jang Tae-san shout angrily from afar.

Finally, I breathed a sigh of relief when Jang Tae-san was arrested and disappeared into the police car. It was cool, but it happened so fast that I felt a little uncomfortable.

But, well, everything went well. With this, Han Yi-jin’s first death flag has been destroyed. Originally, Han Yi-jin couldn’t leave the Loki Guild and had to force himself to do bad deeds. At least the future of being beaten to death by Kang Yoo-hyun while doing bad deeds was gone.

“Hmm.”

I moved secretly while people’s eyes weren’t paying attention. I had to pack up and go out now because the police and the association people needed to secure their belongings quickly. First, I went to Han Yi-jin’s room. Fortunately, the guild members were panicking and couldn’t observe their surroundings properly. Perhaps the building itself will soon be controlled and they will be arrested as well. I casually walked past them into the room.

“First of all, pack the tablets…”

I put the tablets I would give to Han Yi-jin’s younger brother into my inventory, and threw away everything else he had been paying attention to. I was able to finish packing my luggage faster than I thought.

I went straight up to the next floor. This time, I headed to Jang Tae-san’s room. I had to retrieve the precious QE… which Sim Dante asked for.

“Sigh.”

The police and the association people were already camped in front of Jang Tae-san’s room. Maybe because there’s a lot of evidence coming out of there.

I calmly watched the people at the end of the corridor and used my skill to disguise myself in clothes that were roughly similar to theirs. The high-ranking awakened people had gathered below to subdue Jang Tae-san, so there would only be low-ranking awakened people here who were ordinary people or office workers.

“Don’t touch anything there yet.”

“Ah, yes.”

As expected, someone who didn’t recognize me gave me a warning. I nodded and put the documents that other people had left into the big box. Then I scanned the room to find the location of the machine without being noticed.

""

There it is.

The hideous machine remained in Jang Tae-san’s room like a massage chair. No one paid attention because people were only interested in documents or USBs that would be collected as evidence.

As I slowly approached, I quickly put the machine into the inventory so as not to be caught. Even if the volume was large, I was very relieved that it entered naturally when I touched it.

After completing the mission with this, I stepped back carefully. There is only one place left. I left Jang Tae-san’s room and walked to the end of the hall. At first, I walked slowly and my pace gradually got faster.

The last room in the corner of the top floor of the Loki Guild. It was a place where they locked up high-level awakeners that were A-class or higher. Also known as the corporal punishment room. Even when I read the novel, it was something I found disgusting. I didn’t hide my displeasure and opened the door to the room that seemed ordinary from the outside.

[Guild-only access. Only A-class or higher can enter.]1

“Ahh.”

As expected, not all guild members could enter this place.

Then, the system window suddenly appeared.

[You can pass through when you enter a password.]

I recalled the content of the novel. When Jang Tae-san entered the corporal punishment room, the password he entered must be— XOTKS.

[You can enter now.]

“…”

It was a simple password that spelled  “Taesan” with an English keyboard. Since this is a novel world, such a sloppy password is somewhat foolproof, but in reality, that password can easily be cracked multiple times by hackers.

I shook my head and entered the corporal punishment room. I looked around for someone. Immediately I saw a pink haired boy lying in one corner of the room.

“Eden!”

Eden, who was still tied up with an ability control item, lay unconscious in the room.

T/N: Sorry for the long wait and finally HYJ come to the rescue Eden.

Actually there is something like a barrier which he can’t pass through.
