The Zombie Queen’s Second Chance [Rewrite Ongoing]

"Mr. Mao, I'll be taking my leave." Gao Lin stood up and looked at the fat man, some disdain escaping his eyes. "My Black Fire team won't be participating in your thieving actions."

"Thieving actions? Huh? Don't be so full of yourself!" Mao Long was practically seeping with anger. Ever since the Apocalypse began and he awoke his ability, everyone was treating him with a lot of respect.

"Time will tell who is the one that is too full of himself."

Boss Mao was on the verge of blowing up and beginning a fight right there. "Alight, do what you want! Just don't come back to me crying after we get ourselves a good amount of free resources. Your loss!"

Gao Lin made his way out of the caravan car. Looking at Chu Lixue's team, he made a hand signal to his people to follow him and made his way back to his own entroupe.

"Boss, what did that fatty want again?" Asked one of the men following behind Gao Lin.

"He's thinking of fighting it out with the team over there." He said, pointing towards Chu Lixue's two trucks. "Probably saw their stuff and wanted to grab it for himself. He's as greedy as always."

"So, did you agree boss?"

"Do I look stupid to you?"

"No, of course not!"

"Then don't make an idiot out of me. Only someone stupid would go for it. Even though we never saw them before, it's not so easy to get your hands on 2 military-grade trucks. Not to mention, that this dumb fatty has no idea what he's doing."

Gao Lin said with disdain in his voice, looking at Mao Long's group. "He has absolutely no idea how many people they've got and if they have any ability users. When he saw that they didn't seem to have any weapons, the only plan he could think of is to go straight to them and threaten them to give up their things to him. If that's not dumb, than what is?"

"Boss, do you think that group would agree to his conditions?"

"Unless they're total newbies and get scared, they won't. I wouldn't be surprised if we were to wake up tomorrow and his team would be wiped out." Gao Lin said.

"Yeah, you're right boss. Even if they aren't ability users, all they need to do is to stall for time, no? After all, we're pretty close to the base. If news came out that a group was attacked right in front of their entrance, who would want to come and stay here? If things got serious, the military wouldn't let them be…"

Looking at these two military-grade trucks, Gao Ling sighed. "There's also the option that we didn't consider before. These trucks truly aren't easy to get. That group might as well directly belong to the military."

"I hope we won't wake up to a bloodbath tomorrow. Perhaps we should change the place in which we spend the night today, or else we can get implicated in Mao's things…"

Mao Long clearly didn't share their thoughts.

Before the Apocalypse, Mao Long was a small local tyrant. He used to live in a small city near A City, and his family was doing pretty well. His brother-in-law had a pretty high position in their city's administration, so he allowed himself to do quite a lot. After some years, his temperament got even worse and he created his own group of thugs.

After the Apocalypse, his group of subordinates that survived still followed him.

When they managed to join A City's base, they managed to have a pretty decent life. Boss Mao managed to awaken water ability, so as an ability user he was treated with enough respect inside the base.

After that he and his group even began to hunt zombies and scavenge for resources outside, and with each time they went out their confidence grew.

During the first weeks when they arrived at the base they still behaved themselves. After all, it was a new environment for them and they didn't want to stick their heads out.

However, after some time they couldn't forget about their old habits. Aside from hunting and scavenging, now they also resolved to stealing materials belonging to other groups.

When Mao Long saw Chu Lixue's group today, he was once again tempted. He wasn't as stupid to just run to them immediately. Since they managed to get themselves these trucks, then they should have some power.

Because of that, he decided to ask the Black Fire group to help them out, and in the end they would split up their spoils.

He didn't expect however, that Gao Lin would simply disregard him and straight up refuse. Now, he wasn't so sure about attacking Chu Lixue's group either, but if he didn't do it, his followers would lose some of their respect towards him.

After thinking for a little, Mao Long decided to just go through with his plans. After all, he never saw that group before. Maybe they just got lucky and managed to find these trucks somewhere before coming over and joining A City.

Even if they didn't, then aside from him, his group also had 2 other ability users. Even if they can't win over Chu Lixue's group, they should at the very least be equal to them in strength. If something goes wrong, they should be able to simply retreat.
