The night after the blackout, when Mu Ruqin already fell asleep, Chu Lixue finally found some time to instal her solar panels and connect them to her home's electric installation. Her solar panels were assembled outside her windows, changing them into her new personal generators.

If now was not the fact that Chu Lixue didn't have enough of them, she would plaster them all around her windows and roof space. Relying on this, he could finaly begin to grow her plants.

"Mommy, what's this for?" Chu Lili asked while looking at the nearby packs of dirt and seeds used for planting.

"Come here Lili, we're going to create our own garden, sound fun, right?", she said, as she took her 8 years old daughter inside her arms.

"Your mommy bought these on the day when I met you. We're going to turn this room into a growing room. Once we're done, Lili won't need to eat so much rice anymore, happy?"

"Yes!", she shouted, and then asked a question, "But what are we going to grow here, Mommy?"

"Look here. We have seeds used to plant lettuce, spinach, green beans, cuc.u.mbers, bell peppers. Over there are seeds for radishes and carrots. The way they grow is a little different, but most of them only need 30 days to grow up. A single example would need up to 60 days, but that's not so bad."

"Mommy, aren't these all vegetables? Can't we eat some fruit too? Please?", asked Chu Lili, showing pitiful dog eyes.

After some time, when Chu Lixue managed to coax her daughter into believing that vegetables can also taste good, they began to work on their new garden. Chu Lixue began from installing new regals on the walls, since they couldn't truly turn the room into a garden and throw dirt on the floor.

In the meaning time, she let Chu Lili help her with some easier tasks. Little Lili was put in charge of filling the big flowerpots with dirt. While it would take her some time, and she would end up dirty all over, at the very least she seemed to have fun while doing it, so Chu Lixue just let her be, not noticing the slight smile showing on her own face.

When Chu Lixue finished her own work, she turned over to her daughter, and seeing that she wasn't finished, she helped her and they together finished filling the dirt. Afterwards, with some help from her mother, Chu Lili was allowed to put the seeds inside the flowerpots.

After finishing all the preparations and watering them down a little, Chu Lixue asked her daughter to go wash herself, while she started to move their flowerpots into their new place. The ones on the ground were easy to move, but holding them up to regals took a lot of her stamina. Good thing that her body was strengthened after becoming an ability user and a zombie, or she would have already given up.

The last step was to simply install her new l.a.p.s with LED Grow Lights, which she managed to buy in the recent days. She's been quite bothered about this, as her rooms didn't have much sunlight coming in because of the solar panels installed on the windows.

When she was thinking of a solution, after coming to the marketplace in the evening after work, just when she thought there wasn't any possible quick fix to her problem, one of the survivors was selling these lamps. God knows from where he has gotten them, but they were created with the idea of using them for plant's growth in dark environments.

After everything was set-up, and confirming it was working, Chu Lixue went to wash herself and prepared to sleep. She quickly made some food for her daughter and herself, and after eating it they made their way to the bedroom.

Lucky saw them and wrapped his tail around Chu Lixue's feet. These past few days Chu Lixue did not go out much. Mu Ruqin was currently in her home, and the movement of the nearby troops rapidly increased. They sent a portion of troops into A City's most centrum district, with intentions of cleaning it up. The remainder dealt with zombies in the surrounding area.

Since their current home was inside the military district, there was always a group passing by during the past two days. Just yesterday, it seemed as if the military was hell bent on reclaiming more area within a week's time. The number of troops going outside was terrifying.

Chu Lixue currently didn't need to go to her work. Both districts reclaimed by the military had their walls already done, and it simply made no sense to enlarge them currently. Also, building new houses wasn't an option either. Even if someone wanted to live inside a dirt structure, there simply wasn't much space anywhere to put them in. She could stay at home with Lili for as long as the military didn't have a new space to build defensive structures.

Chu Lixue returned to the bedroom with her daughter asleep in her arms, and saw Mu Ruqin leaning on the pillow, her eyes closed until she realized she was not alone in the room anymore. She tried to stand up from the bed, but pain got the better out of her.

"You can stay in bed for now, don't force yourself.", said Chu Lixue, fearing that Mu Ruqin would simply open up her wounds with her unnecessary movements.
