The WealthTap System: Rising from Rags to Riches

91 It's 2 versus 1, what can I do?

Taylor just casually turned back to the worker after faking a sigh and answered to his pleas…

"Fine. Pause the game till we change. And this is your last warning." Taylor glared at the meek worker and took off his seatbelt, promptly leaving his car and heading to the changing room with no other words said.

Inside, he was in a rather good mood since he felt he managed to complete his objective to paint a good impression about himself in Cathy's eyes.

But what he didn't know was, Cathy was no longer as sensitive and emotional like she used to be. So acting like a good, forgiving guy in front of her was a waste.

After all, she wouldn't have given a shit if the worker was fired, and she still didn't give a shit that he was saved by Taylor's 'grace'.

Soon, others also followed after Taylor and got changed into the clothes provided by X-Fun. After all, no one could afford to get their clothes soiled carelessly just for a game.

…

After the unfortunate pause to the game, everyone soon returned back to their seats and got ready to play again.

As last time, timer and rules were shown once again by the monotonous AI and the 15 minutes timer was restarted from scratch.

It seems instead of resuming, the worker had simply restarted the game. Which was indeed a smarter choice.

Similar to the last time, Chris and Max reversed their cars behind to gain some distance and form a plan.

"Chris, how about a wild charge?" Max suggested with a serious look on his face.

"No. Once the target of a car is destroyed, the car stops working. Charging without thinking is too risky." Chris shook his head, "We should make a more detailed plan, because they might be doing… the same…" his voice trailed off as Chris suddenly looked ahead.

Towards them, the white coloured car was rushing at full speed. The unknown men both had creepy grins on their face as one of them cackled while shooting the water gun while other was cackling as he speed the car towards Team-1.

Suddenly, the stream of water from the white car hit Chris's target violently, causing the water to rain on Chris and Cathy while their target suffered damage.

'This bastard…' Chris's face twisted into that of annoyance as he glared at the psychotic friends who were charging wildly at them.

"Chris… drive." Cathy hissed coldly, her long silky black hairs were drenched and sticking to her skin while some of her light make up washed off her face.

She was genuinely angered this time…

Chris heard her demand, and with a laugh, he pressed his foot on the accelerator, causing their car to skid away from the direct aim of the white car.

Cathy also focused as they avoided the stream of water that was trying to hit their target again. Alas, Chris's driving skills were too good to be hit easily. He was skidding and drifting the car out of the way every time before the stream can attack their target.

Cathy had started to shoot their water gun as well, causing the white car to also show efforts in dodging, which naturally slowed their attack speed.

Max who had also circled away from the white car, suddenly came from behind and began to attack the white car along with Chris's car, accomplishing a nice pincer attack.

"Ha! Thats what you get for underestimating us!" Max cackled at the white car while Cassie and Cathy showered the white target with high speed streams of water.

The white car was trying to move out of the way and avoid the attacks, however, Chris and Max were hot on its tail, causing repeated damage to the white colored cardboard target.

'the target wouldn't last much now.' Chris smirked while following the white car. Reason behind his bold claim was the condition that White's target was in. The cardboard, no matter how well made, was now completely drenched and some small tears were slowly spreading on it.

The victory against the unknown white car seemed to be within grasp… but, what he had hoped for didn't happen…

*Phissss!* *BEEP!*

Suddenly the sound of a high speed water stream overshadowed every other sound on the arena as the stream of water suddenly came from behind Max's car and directly tore through the target…

As if to celebrate for the sudden ambush, a loud peep renounced in the arena, causing Chris to stiffen up in bewilderment.

They were shooting at the white car's target for so long, yet it was still intact. While Taylor's attack tore through Max's target in an instant?! How the hell was it even possible?!

"Tsk tsk tsk, Christopher. I thought you would do better than this." Taylor clicked his tongue and sighed as his red car came next to the white car and aimed at Chris's target.

"You should have at least kept eye on your teammate's target along with your enemies." Taylor said, "You were too short-sighted and just wanted to destroy the white car that you didn't even notice how Psi and Soci were weakening the Blue car's target."

Hearing Taylor's words, Chris's eyes widened. He had noticed that while escaping, the white car only kept on attacking Max's target. But at that time, Chris didn't pay any attention since all he wanted to do was get rid of the White's target.

Seeing Chris's expressions, Taylor chuckled more, "Let me tell you one more secret. The cardboard of Bumper Cars is specially made by X-Fun, and it is not as plain as you think it to be." Taylor dropped a major hint as he suddenly pressed on the break and made some distance along with his teammates.

"I will tank the attacks now, you support me." Taylor ordered to his teammates, namely Psi and Soci.

Chris also made some distance while he was in a deep thought, understanding what Taylor meant by his words, 'Not as plain as I think it to be?'

"He probably meant the structure of the target, it is not as plain as we think it to be… maybe it is curved? Or rather, arched?" Cathy voice out her opinions.

"Arched… I did notice that Taylor had attacked right through the center of the target." Chris hummed, "OH SHIT! It is thicker at the edges and thinner in the center!" he realized and bumped his first on the metallic body of his Black car.

He had realized a crucial piece of information that might have even let him win the match earlier, however, it took him way too long to realize that…

This match was no longer a team 2 versus 2. It was now an unfair 1 versus 2. A battle that Chris had absolutely zero advantage in.

"We will win, Chris." Cathy murmured with a focused look on her drenched charming face.

Chris was surprised by her sudden promise, however it filled his heart with warmth that Cathy was now motivated to win.

Sensing his inner battles and his fighting spirit, Chris's long lost and trustee cheat also popped up…

[Sudden Mission!

 Greed type.

As the host of the WT System, the host must be strong and greedy enough to desire victory at all costs.

 Reward- Skill: Advanced Mana Augmentation

Skill Information - Rarity: Basic.

Function: allows the host to augment their physical prowess by leaps and bounds by the help of mana. ]

'Hah! It's the same mission that had came to me when I was playing FISA with Lucky. Sweet memories hahaha.' Chris laughed in his mind after seeing the familiar yet unfamiliar mission.

The wordings of the mission were same as before, however the reward had changed. It was a skill this time, albeit a basic one.

'I can already augment my body using mana, what is the advantage in this and the current one?' Chris thought while channeling his mana within his body.

'Probably the skill is just an optimized and easier method of doing what I can do by myself.' Chris assumed and as if to prove it to himself that he could use the mana, he channeled it to his hands, legs and eyes to augment his capabilities.

"Brother, I don't think using mana is allowed in this game~" Cathy giggled playfully seeing that Chris was blatantly using mana to help himself in the game.

"Well, it is a 1 versus 2 after all, what can I do?" Chris smirked back.
