Finally he had decided to take care of this poor girl who was betrayed by her own loved ones, thrown into the deep pits of hell to die and suffer…

And soon, his slow car reached the house, stopping in front of the huge villa as Chris looked at the police officers that stood by the villa's door.

Alfred was also standing by the door, seemingly trying to talk his way through the officers who were here for some unknown reasons.

Chris parked the car in the garage, asking some maids to take Cathy and Mia to the rooms while also asking Agatha to call the doctors.

"Mister Christopher. You must know what happened today in the red-light district, right?" an old officer who had three stars adoring his collar asked calmly.

"Yes. I know."

"We need to question you about what had happened in the inner rooms where you found the hostages. Is that alright?" the old officer asked casually, as if he just wanted to chit chat about some menial stuff.

But of course, Chris wasn't fooled by the fake calmness. They most likely wanted to know what had happened in Vincent's lair. Afterall, many lives were lost there. That too all of them were savagely torn apart and injured as if the work of a beast.

Still, as a normal citizen, even though an awakened, he had no power to bend the rules as much as to disobey a three-starred officer.

"We can talk here." Chris nodded and gestured to the tables that were spread out on the lawn.

"Of course." old officer smiled and sat on a table, followed by his partner, who was a young man with one starred collar.

"I am Willfred, and this is my son William." the old man introduced, "We are here just for some random questions about the red-light district case. Hope you will cooperate, mr. Christopher."

"Of course. Let me guess, I am a suspect for the deaths caused in the lair?" Chris quit the chit-chat, directly getting to the point since he needed to be there for Cathy when she woke up.

"Well, not really a suspect but rather a witness haha, the deaths seemed quite… beastly to be done by you, right?" Willfred squinted his eyebrows as he stressed on his words.

"I am not really a witness. I had just entered the room when I saw something blurring in my vision and many people shooting continuously." Chris shrugged, "I didn't manage to see what it was, it was a huge, dark coloured cloudy beast."

Seeing their disagreeing gazes and weird looks, Chris shrugged, "You saw the battle's after effects, they can't be caused by humans, right?"

"..." Willfred looked at Chris's honest expression and shrugged, "Who knows."

However, before Chris can ponder over Willfred's words, William who had been silent spoke up, "So you were just hiding behind like a pussy, waiting for the battle to end and then going to gather the glory?"

"Glory? Hah! Getting a couple of officers hounding me for answers, having my sister nearly sold off, having to witness hundreds of deaths, this is 'glory'?" Chris spat.

"..."

"My sister is still unconscious, traumatized and what not, this is what you call glory, bastard?" Chris took his collar, glaring at him murderously.

"I-" William was unable to speak as he shrunk under Chris's deathly gaze. His survival instincts screamed at him to apologize, however he knew he didn't have to. Why did he need to plead and beg when his father was with him?

"Mr. Christopher, please let him go. He didn't mean any harm, he is just new to this field. I apologize on his place." Willford gently held Chris's hand, taking it off his son easily as he apologized.

"Thank you for your time, we will take our leave." Willfred quickly said and pulled William off the desk, walking away as he gave a short bow to Chris and left.

Chris also didn't bother to stop them or say anything, after all, what was the point? They had no proof that he was even partially involved in the deaths.

Why should he bother to stop them? Or so he thought…

…

"You went too far, Kay." Willfred sighed, walking next to William as he pulled off a mask off his face, showing his youthful face which looked nothing like his older appearance before.

"It worked though, didn't it, Leren?" William, who was now addressed as Kay by Willfred, chuckled back as he pulled off a mask too, his earlier average face being switched by a youthful and handsome man.

"Hahahahaha, you are a psycho. But, you are right, heh. The aura matches. It was indeed him." Willfred aka Leren laughed.

"You are more psychotic than me. But… if it was him, why wasn't I able to detect any lies in his words?"

"Because it wasn't him."

"Wha-"

"Kekekeke, things have just got much more interesting." Leren laughed maniacally as he got into his police jeep.

…

With zero idea about the notorious duo, Chris sat silently on a chair, looking at a young woman that lay gently on the bed, her eyes shut tightly as she squirmed and twitched her body ever so frequently.

He gently stroked her hairs and tried to pacify her, alas, his touches only made her more repulsed as she struggled to move furthest away from as she can due to a glucose needle injecting in her veins.

She wasn't able to subconsciously distance herself more, however just a little shift was enough for Chris to freeze in shock and pull back his hands away.

It pained him to see her traumatized like that, but, there was nothing he could do. Nothing except than wait hopelessly by her side till she wakes up…

…

"Mhm…"

A soft groan filled the silence of the room as the owner of voice tried her best to get up and check why her body hurted all over.

Alas, no matter how hard she pushed, she ended up falling back on the fluffy bed as her body pained and made her uncomfortable.

She felt like crying from the torture, until it suddenly withdrawn. A gentle but firm hand wrapped on her slender waist as she felt her body gently raising up.

"W…Who?" Cathy tried to speak, fumbling over her words a little as she finally managed to utter a comprehensible word, who.

"I am Chris, your brother." Chris gently stroked her hair and smiled.

"Chris…?" Cathy gave a confused look as she tried to distance herself from him, "I… don't know… you."

Chris didn't take her words seriously as he was already warned by the doctors that Cathy might be a little muddle headed and amnesiac after she wakes up again.

They had done it purposefully so she doesn't take a major brain shock and goes into a frenzy of sorts.

"Shhh, It's okay. Take it easy. We are here for you dear." Chris pressed her tired body on his chest and gently stroked her hair to calm her down.

"Yes, sis! I am here too!" Cassie chimed in, her usually cheery voice a little strained as she looked at Cathy painfully.

"Where am I? I was in a car… some people came in and knocked me out… you…" Cathy's body shivered in his arms as she pushed him back with her pathetic current body state.

"Cath, Cath calm down, it wasn't-"

"You! You dragged me out of the car! Put me in a cellar-"

"It was Caster, Cath. The one you went on a lunch with, he is dead."

"Liar! Caster is my brother! He would never do such a thi-"

"Shut up." Chris hugged her suddenly, yet tightly. Her whole body on him as she opened her eyes wide in surprise.

A strange warmth spread in her as she silently hugged him back, no questions asked. She was still very confused as her mind was in a haze.

However she somehow felt safe right now. Somewhat secure.

"I am sorry sis… I failed to protect you… I am really sorry…" Chris hugged her, keeping his chin on her shoulders as he broke into some tears.

"What happened…? You kidnapped me? Why are you crying?" Cathy gave him a confused look as she tried to understand the situation.

"Even in this situation you are dumb as always, hahaha." Max laughed to hide his worry he had after listening something had happened.

That's why he came over as soon as possible after listening that Cathy was kidnapped.

"Cath… I am not the one who kidnapped you. The one who kidnapped you… are dead." Chris kissed her forehead and seperated from the tight hug as he muttered.
