The Villainess 'Simple' Life

Chapter 13 - Thirteen: Reaction

Lyra was wearing a white/red long sleeve dress that went all the way to her knee, along with a small white bow tied to the waist part of the dress that gave it a cute look, she was also wearing the necklace that her mother gave her for her birthday. Her silky purple hair was in a waterfall braid that gave her a somewhat cute/naive vibe.

Violet was matching with her sister, also wear a white/red long sleeve dress but instead of a white bow near her waist, there was instead a red bow. Her blue hair was also in a waterfall braid.

While they were walking around town, people were looking at them.

"Oh my, those two girls are too pretty!" Was what everyone was saying.

"Violet, let's go into that store!" Lyra pointed to a shop that was in a corner. Violet never saw Lyra looking this excited before so her reaction was a bit delayed. "Ah, okay." They both ran into the store.

"Welcome to our weapon store. Please ask if you need any ȧssistance." The worker said. Lyra and Violet just nodded.

They both started to look around. Violet was looking at everything with interest while Lyra was just looking around. She saw a sword in the corner that caught her eye, it was a bit dusty but it still caught her eye. 'Isn't this sword the one that the heroine had? The one that was said to be 'special'?"

She picked it up and brought it to the worker. "What kind of sword is this?"

"Ah, that's one of our failed crafted swords. We were planning to throw it away soon but if you're interested, I could sell it to you for a cheap price." The worker said.

"How much?"

"3 copper coins."

'That's quite cheap indeed.'

Lyra gave the worker 5 copper coins. "Consider this as a thank you for the cheap sword." Lyra gave the worker a big smile. Even though the worker is a girl, she still blushed and thanked Lyra profusely. 'This child is too cute', the worker thought.

Lyra just smiled and walked to her sister. "Did you find anything you like?"

Violet shook her head. "I didn't find anything."

"Should we eat first then continue looking?" Lyra asked. Violet nodded.

The two walked out of the store, Lyra gave the sword to one of the guards so that she wouldn't have to hold it.

"Let's eat at that place, it smells delicious." Lyra pointed to a stall that was near them. Violet nervously nodded, the closer they got, the more it smelled good.

Violet hasn't eaten at a stall before so she was quite nervous. Lyra was just fine, she fit right in.

"What can I get for you, two beautiful ladies?" The owner was a old man.

"Anything is fine as long as it is delicious," Lyra said to the old man. .

"Haha, coming right up. How about you, young lady." The old man looked towards Violet.

"Ah, I'll have what my sister is having." Violet's voice was a bit shaken.

The old man nodded and walked away.

"Are you okay, Violet?" Lyra asked concerned for her sister.

"Ah, I'm fine. I'm not used to going out without a maid."

"Oh." Lyra nodded her head, it's understandable. "Why aren't you nervous, Lyra? Isn't this your first time going here?"

"I'm just excited!" Lyra said.

Violet nodded her head. After a while, their food soon arrived. "Here ya go." As the old man put the two bowls of noodles down, Violet couldn't help but drool. a bit. "It smells so good." She started eating right away.

After they finished their bowl of noodles, Lyra and Violet continued walking down the streets to see if there was anything else they wanted. Lyra was happy to be walking on the streets again. "Let's go to that store!" Lyra pointed to a store that sold weapons. Violet nodded and followed her.

As they walked into the store, Violet went to look for her sword while Lyra just looked around. Walking over to the bow section, she saw one that caught her eyes. It was a pretty blue/violet color. "How much is this bow?" Lyra asked the owner.

"7 copper coins." The owner said.

Lyra took out 7 copper coins and gave it to the owner. "Thank you for your business." Was what he said before leaving to take care of another costumer.

Lyra walked over to Violet and saw that she was staring at a sword. "Do you want that sword."

Violet was surprised to see Lyra, she almost fell in shock. "You scared me, Lyra." But she quickly recover from the shock.

"Isn't this sword pretty?" Violet pointed to a sword.

"Mh." Lyra nodded her head. The sword was indeed pretty. The handle part was blue and the rest of it was white. "It suits you." Lyra said.

After Violet decided on a sword, the two of them continued walking around for a bit before deciding to go back. But on the way back they encountered someone, the crown prince.

"Greetings to you, Crown prince." Violet and Lyra did a slight bow.

"Greetings to you." The prince said back in reply.

Lyra badly wanted to go home but the prince wouldn't give them a chance, he invited them to a restaurant. "We are sorry Crown Prince but we must go home. We informed our parents that we would be back home by sunset. Maybe another time, goodbye now." Lyra didn't give him a chance to talk before walking away with Violet.

"I-" The prince was left by himself with his guards around him.

As Lyra and Violet got in the carriage, Violet could feel that Lyra's hands were shaking. Violet wanted to ask Lyra what was wrong but judging by Lyra's reaction, now isn't the time.

On the way home, Violet continued holding Lyra's hands and patting her on the back. When they reached the duke's household, Lyra took a deep breath before looking at Violet.. "I'm fine, thank you."
