The Time When Me And My Family Went To Other World

Chapter 20 - Fire Absorbing Ki Tempering

I was washed with this high amount of Ki from the Earthen Flame that my body started to greedily absorb it naturally without any Ki Gathering poses.

But I thought about the ways my body moved in the Asura Forma and tried mimicking the breathing while starting to smelt everything that we bought from my house, the broken spears and my armor and weapons that were all in taters from the abuse they went through and my own incapability to summon Ki to strengthen my equipment against those monsters I fought, a.k.a. the Masters.

While I was using the breathing I was used to from such working with the Asura Forma Sword Variant that I could do it while I was smelting all the iron.

But I found it weird that we don't use steel, so I thought about asking, since all that it would need was iron and coal, aside from high temperature and influx of oxygen to make the iron with low carbon content, also commonly known as steel.

"Excuse me Gramps Doh, but why are all weapons made here only with iron, where are the steel ones?" I asked about it, since this is a different world, so it must be some kind of limitation involved.

"Well, it is not like I don't understand or know the process it is just so we can make such materials we would need an Fire Nucleus or Magic Blacksmith here to make it work, since you need to imbue the hammer with fiery property to work, it can't be just the components for such amazing material to be made." He explained to me "As you can see, I am not a warrior or mage, so I can't use either way to create such material"

When he finished I was bursting with flame from inside, for some reason the Nucleus inside me was acquiring a blue tint and I felt my whole body full with Ki, that I needed to get it out of my system.

Suddenly I used Eruption on my body and weapon in this case the smithing hammer.

A powerful flame covered the whole hammerhead, making it look blue and I looked at Gramps Doh.

"This works right? We can make steel weapons and armor like this?" I asked while sweat poured out since I wasn't using enough Ki yet.

Flabbergasted by such happening, he saw the flame covered hammer and started talking "Earthen Fire Eruption! Hahahahahahha! I can finally make Indigo Steel!" he said very excited.

All iron was ready to melt and Gramps added coal and made me move the bellows, towards the recipient which had an opening to put these there so there is a supply of oxygen, he told me to press the bellows with only after 30 seconds interval for half an hour.

So I kept doing it and the mix started to shine white with a light blue tinge, instead of a red and yellow one for some reason, but the material didn't melt at all.

He took it away and told me to hit where he wanted to, so I hit and started drawing out the material until stretched thin, then he made fold it and put it back on the recipient for some more Earthen flame treatment, doing this process a total of seventeen times.

What came out was a light blue incandescent metal which we turned into ingots, for a total of twenty bars sizing up to thirty centimeters by ten centimeters by five centimeters, which is a lot of materials.

"There we have it, high purity Indigo Steel!" he said joyously from such accomplishment.

This time I exhausted a lot of the Ki I got, but I was getting it back by practice of the breathing exercises of the Asura Forma Sword Variant.

Suddenly we hear a call from outside the Smithy.

"Snacks are ready!" It was Granny Rir's voice coming through.

We closed the Earthen Flame trap door and went to where the dining room was, it had some juice for refreshments which tasted like strawberries and cookies and sandwiches.

"Thanks Granny Rir! They taste amazing!" I said after swallowing a whole sandwich.

She chuckled as she left and went back to get some more food.

While I waited for more grub I asked about smithing to Grandpa Doh.

"Hey, Grandpa, about smithing are there a lot of materials like steel which a common blacksmith can't make? Because with steel, all that was missing was the reinforcing of the tool, right?" I asked intrigued.

"Yes, common smiths can't develop or upgrade materials without infusing Ki or Mana on the mineral with the hammer, that is why a blacksmith need at least a Magic Hammer to work then, which is impossible until you came here, that is " he said excited.

So there are restrictions to work with different materials.

We kept drinking a little more and Granny came with some more food we ate and went back to the Smithy.

The Steel was now a deep grayish blue, really pleasing to the eyes, I wanted to start making some great armor and weapons with it, right away. But even more so was Grandpa with his burning gaze towards the ingots.

We opened the heavy trap door and started working again, this time since the steel stabilized it would still remain as steel, all we had to do was draw out the metal in its d.e.s.i.r.ed shape, sharpen it in case of weapons, making their scabbards and porters as necessary.

First, what Grandpa did was to teach me how to draw out the metal at the correct size, the length and thickness of the bar are important, so the blade has enough reach and doesn't break as easily from being too thin.

The Indigo Steel was way harder to work than iron, but I could 'steel' make it. Hahaha...

Before making any piece, he showed me how to make a sword.

It took me ten tries of clobbering the steel with my hammer drawing out the shapes of this metal, but I was able to make something barely passable. Since we were working towards a good piece, I remade this one, meanwhile Grandpa had done fifteen spear heads. Yeah, he may not be an Magic Smith, but he surely is an amazing smith.

I tried some more and finally, just before lunch time, I had an amazing job done on this sword.

"Now, lad, that is indeed a good piece you made today, don't forget to temper, quench and sharpen it, since it is Indigo Steel you need to make it in that order" said Grandpa appreciating my work "Normally, you don't want to lose the heat treatment, but for Indigo Steel it works best like this."

Afterwards, we made a pause for lunch and I ran towards Mr. Guido's Atelier, to look for my wonderful, lovely wife and her cooking.

When I got there, I found a great amount of clothes all over the floor, it looked a lot like medieval times linen cloth armor, which was amazing on itself, since there was close to a thirty pieces here.

I went towards the back and found an exhausted looking Mr. Guido with his flaming hair laying on the table in the kitchen while my wife as humming a lovely song and stirring some pots.

"Hello, Mr. Guido, hello, honey!" I said excited, Mr. Guido only waved his hand as if he was really tired, Nor at least smiled and came to give me a kiss. She is such a cute and amazing woman.

I sat down while waiting for the lunch to be served, it was weird seeing Mr. Guido like that, he seems like a dead body on the table, so I asked.

"What is wrong with Mr. Guido?" I asked what was bugging me.

"He hated to make, non fashion clothes, also know as these linen vests, which we will further enhance applying some monster fur to increase its resilience and durability.

He said it would look ridiculous, but if we had some kind of Alchemic Fabric, we could create armor that is easier to move in and more fashionable." she said, but that is impossible for now since we don't have any way to learn that level of Alchemy to produce something reliable, so keep on strong Mr. Guido.

We had lunch while I talked about the amazing stuff that happened over at the forge, the flaming hammer and how the steel was deep indigo in color, the first sword I made which was shit, honestly to the one that I was working on, that wasn't as hideous as the first one.

She listened for the first half with a smile on her face and then explained how her day was, starting how to get the linen vest with a three dimensional binding of the threads which I didn't quite understand, but I was happy for her.

We ended our meal and I went back to the Smithy, ready to finish the sword. I tried on these last processes to use the Eruption as way to make the sword stronger and to temper my own Nucleus, since I noticed the more I use the Nucleus the stronger the feeling of energy I feel coursing through me and I can make my Ki reserves stronger.

So I started the Tempering or Heat Treatment on the blade, Grandpa Doh told me to take the blade of the flame when it just glows blue from the heating, during this process I fed it my Eruption and it started glowing really soon.

Then I quenched it with some mineral oil obtained from a Earth Mutated Beast, when that happens the blood of the beasts become as mineral oil or white oil, it helps to cool the metal without having contact with the air or being too fast like water, which can create hidden cracks inside the blade, when it stopped glowing blue and letting out fire and smoke I took it out of the bucket and went towards the grinder stone, I looked at it to find if there was any sandpaper to put on top of it, not finding any I asked about them to Grandpa Doh, he pointed at the wardrobe just outside the Smithy.

There were many sandpapers inside there, each had some number on it which were kind of blurred by the use, but still readable.

"Grandpa Doh, what are these numbers on these sandpaper?" I asked.

"These numbers tell you the size of the grain on them, the higher the number the finer and smaller the grain is, meaning you should start with the smaller one and proceed to the higher ones later, try to keep a small inclination when you sand it, so it is sharp." he said while not even looking towards me, working on his spearheads.

I tried something between twenty to ten degrees, all I had to do was simulate two halves of perpendicular to the blade and a little more lower.

To more uniformly hand grind this sword I used a wood plank and laid the flat part on a tight clamp, so I would hand sharpen the blade by passing it on the sandpaper, it took me about to two hours to hand grind and sharpen it to the highest grain sandpaper, which was a whopping twenty thousand.

It was extremely tiring but the sword was done, with every single step done by using Eruption on the item to keep it strong, possibly making it better than with just the normal use of everything.

It was a double edge longsword with a little curve towards the tip, being really sharp on the edges and a powerful curving tip too. It had a 1.2m blade length, it was 2cm thick towards the bottom with a hexagonal shape and 10cm wide, it would certainly be a really heavy sword to use by the human standards since it would weight close to ten kilograms, but for some reason it felt really good in my hand, just like a normal one kilogram sword would be if I still was the same weak human being, it is flexible enough and the barycenter is close to the hilt, making it have a massive sword in size, but really comfortable to wield for some reason. I went and showed it to Grandpa which was still finishing one more spearhead.

After he finished it, he took the blade without handle, guard and pommel and went over flexibility, sharpness and tinkered too, to see if there was any other problems with.

"This is not a good blade..." he said which made me really awkward "This is a very fine piece, which is actually really resistant and has a nice balance point" he said while swinging towards a piece of cloth that was dangling just behind him, which cut it like it was butter. I was all smiles from such high praise from my mentor.

Now he went and grabbed some pre-made guard, handle and pommel for me since I didn't think I could make any more detailed work now, it made grabbing the blade even more comfortable than the training sword I used.

He used a shaving tool which made the point of the tang a screw, to fit the pommel and shaved a little bit of the inside from the handle so it would fit correctly. First he added the guard with some glue, then the handle, likewise, with some glue as well and hit it with a rubber hammer to fit the two handed handle correctly, lastly he screwed the pommel in place.

This my first finished piece of work done!

"Now it needs something to hold it in place, so it wouldn't cut everything around it for any reason, a scabbard, best ask Agnes for it latter." He told me "And once there as well, grab some poles for me to put ready some spears will you? She makes detailed work too."

I nodded towards him and asked to who would the sword belong.

"Well, who do you think use a sword here, aside from you?" he laughed at my face "Why do you think a made as far as so much spearheads? These are for the villagers on the Outpost and your colleagues in battle."

I was embarrassed about this, since I didn't notice that everybody was using spears.

"Well, aside from Brontus who uses fists and don't need any weapons, your master also uses some knives as weapons, so it would be nice to make some for daily use and for your master to use, too " he said "It will a lot easier and you shall understand how hard it is to make things faster."

I nodded and went towards Agnes' Cottage, to ask about the poles for the spears and a scabbard for the sword I took with for measurements. She shooed me away as soon as finished what I had to say, telling me to come early in the evening.

After I went back to the Smithy, Grandpa wasn't there anymore. I heard some noises closer to the dining room, so I thought that I would find them there, so I knocked on the door and waited a bit, so Granny came and opened the door.

"Come in sweetie, there is some tea and cake ready" she said cheerfully.

"Okay, then. Excuse me." I said as I go inside and had a snack with them both, I finished it fast and went back to the Smithy to start working on the daggers, when I thought what if I let my Nucleus feed directly from the fire by trying to hold it, suddenly I felt the fire sway towards me and a wisp of it flew towards me entering my body causing an insane change inside my Nucleus!
