Rex as per instructions folded his blanket and kept it under a counter in dinning room before everybody got up. Not that he got up early, but he couldn't sleep even with the blanket.

The blanket was light and was not warm enough to completely shield him from the cold winds, but still the blanket provided him with temporary relief. Also the whole night he was thinking about how to get his 3 basic needs back on line.

Food, clothes and shelter were the three basic needs of any human anywhere on this world. Even if one basic need is hard to get then your life become uneasy as you have to match your needs daily.

Yesterday all night he was in a deep thought how to get the 3 basic needs. Starting with food, Rex knew that yesterday just because Bracken had thrown his plate away and stopped anyone from helping him, it could happen on any day.

So relying on orphanage for food was going to be a hard choice. He needed to find another food source to rely on.

When dinner hall had just opened he quietly rushed in and took few pieces of bread and made his way towards the village. As he ate on the way to the village his mind was trying to find an alternative source.

But the first thing he saw was the prices of products instead of the products. When your pocket is light its the price you observe instead of the food.

Doesn't matter how bad it tastes, doesn't matter the quality of the product, doesn't matter the packaging and doesn't matter the ingredients used in it. All that matters is the price of the product and how much money I can save by using it.

The first thing he realized was that food grains were at affordable price but they weren't directly edible, they had to be cooked into various foodstuff to consume.

For this you needed other supplies like cooking pots, oil, fire stove, etc and to get this you needed money and a place to cook. So this option right the way was cancelled directly.

Next came the farm produce like fruits, nuts, vegetables but these food were a bit expensive. This was a good option as they were ready to eat, but the amount of energy you got from eating a single one of them was comparatively very less.

So to get more amount of energy you needed to eat large amount of them to extract a good amount of energy. Due to this, they became a lot more expensive.

Next he saw the ready products like bread, fruit jams, milk, etc but these products though being easy to eat were very expensive out here. So this option too was cancelled.

Next came lunches and dinner in diners and restaurants. This option was extravagantly expensive. Only rich people could afford this option daily.

Next to the diner was a meat shop and as soon as Rex entered the shopkeeper looked at him with a huge disp.l.e.a.s.u.r.e in his eyes.

Meat was something only rich could afford after the change. Meat had gone from a bit expensive to extremely extravagant after the change,

The main reason for this was the change which happened to the animals. Mutations took place and the animals changed into devil beasts.

Devil beasts as per name were different from normal animals. Along with the changes in the body, they earned different abilities which made them different all together.

Some could harness elemental powers, some could hide in shadows, some gained psychic manipulation while some could enter a blood l.u.s.t/ enraged state.

Such things made them different from normal animals which had changes only in their physical structures. Normal animals only had small changes in their body like strength or size change.

But these changes made normal unawakened humans unable to rear and cultivate these animals. Also even if you domesticated these animals, those in wild would find them as easy prey and would attack them quite frequently.

Due to this domestication of animals was quite hard and very few animals could be domesticated. Due to this the meat prices had reached the sky and so only rich could afford this.

Therefore when Rex entered the shop the shopkeeper knew that he was here for nothing but trouble. "Shoo boy... What are you here for? This is not something which you can have."

Rex looked at him with a puzzled expression on his face, "Why what's so special here?" He asked this because he had eaten meat at festivals in his orphanage.

"This is a meat shop which ordinary people can't afford. So you better leave before dirtying my shop."

"Why is the meat so expensive? What's so special about it?"

"Haha you see... my shop only hold exquisite wild meat. This all meat is from hunted animals which were caught out there in wild."

Rex looked at the prices of the meat kept and even though he realized his mouth was watering, the prices were so high that the water from his mouth turned into steam just looking at them.

As they were talking 2 bellows came out from outside the shop as a cart came to the stop in front of the shop.
