The Rise Of True Magic

Chapter 5 - A Pleasant Surprise!

Knock Knock

"Come in." A voice called out

"Your afternoon tea your highness." The head maid spoke as she entered the office room.

"Leave it on the desk." Roland replied as he read through the various doc.u.ments.

"Would you have anything else your highness." She asked after pouring the cup with tea.

"That will be all." Roland replied dismissively.

With a bow she took her leave. Throughout the exchange Rolands eyes never lifted from the doc.u.ment in his hand.

"Arnadus!"

"Lord?" Arnadus asked as appeared at the prince side.

"What do you think about that girl." Ronald asked.

"She was courteous and obliging to you Lord." Arnadus replied watching the lord's reaction searching for a hint.

Instead of replying Roland slowly took the tea in his hands before taking a sip.

"Nothing at the moment, she just rubbed me the wrong way." Roland answered, "Keep an eye on her."

Arnadus shook his head in acknowledgment as he vanished into thin air leaving Ronald Alone with his work.

Allen immediately went to find Barov to get the necessary funds, but the meeting could have gone better. Even if he didn't like him, at the least he could try to be polite instead of making his disp.l.e.a.s.u.r.e clear. Nevertheless, he managed to secure 25 royal gold coins from that unreasonable man trying to give him 5 silvers. Did he take him for a fool?

"Chief, chief…."

Deep in thought Allen kept walking unware of the person shouting behind his back trying to get his attention. Seeing him not paying any attention to him he had no choice but to increase his pace.

"Chief, Slowdown will you."

Allen was shaken out of his absentminded state when arm was put on his shoulder. Turning to the side a man was breathing heavily as if he had run a marathon.

"Sorry I wasn't paying attention." Allen apologized.

"I noticed, so what's got your attention." The man asked.

"That's right here these are recruitment notices I want this posted throughout the town." Allen ordered.

"Can't it till tomorrow, we just got here, and everyone is tired and that guy Barov just provided us with a place to stay." The man complained

"No, posting them now will save us a time tomorrow. Instead of recruiting people we will be getting more work done. We must show the lord our sincerity."

Allen and his men began posting the recruitment notices throughout the town before returning to the quarters to get some much-needed sleep.

Taking the situation of the territory in question Allen didn't offered a sum that was to extravagant but a thrifty amount of 10 copper coins. The amount of people that arrived clearly shows the current economic conditions of the territory.

'He definitely is an old timer, but he is certainly not ignorant like the people of this town that literally lives in the middle ages. I mean think about it we got attacked by bandits of all things. Not thieves, serial killer or even a terrorist but bandits. Has the entire world gone cuckoo or just the town? I mean really no proper sewage system, water supply, electricity, and no sight of a single modern-day equipment. How do the youth of this town pass the time without a smartphone to google the internet? let's not forget that fool of a minister thinks to highly of himself. I will let you know that this Oldman can operate a computer. Do you even know what that even is?' Allen berated everyone one in the towns except his Lord.

Without wasting anytime Allen divided the people in multiple groups before giving them their respective tasks. Even through they were confused about some of the materials they were ordered to gather they still carried out their tasks. Under Allen's supervision a lot of materials were gathered by midday.

Without wasting a single second Allen returned to the town hall to find the Buffoon bickering with the lord. Really the nerve of that man.

"The materials have been gathered my Lord." Allen reported making his presence in the room known. Barov froze in mid speech at his unexpected entrance before immediately recovering his composure and acting as if nothing had happened in the first place.

Roland chuckled at barov's discomfort before giving Allen his undivided attention.

"Good work, I am pleased to hear that the trust I put in you has not been misplaced. Here is the blueprint for Basic Brick Factory and Basic Brick kiln Production. This is the basic layout of the town and I want them build here as show on the map." Roland instructed Allen on his new duty along with the method of how to produce cement for the construction process in order to spare more time for himself.

"As we are on a tight schedule try to get it finished today." Roland instructed.

"I will do my best my Lord." With his new duty assigned Allen dismissed himself from the Lords Office completely ignoring barov's cold stare that seemed to bore into him.

"Your Highness I don't understand what you are trying to achieve but please could you tone it down because we will be having financial issues soon if things continue like this." Barov complained, completely discarding Allen's sudden presence and departure from the Office.

"Nonsense these things are important for the development of border town." Roland replied

"Nevertheless, I can understand hiring people to collect the resources but providing every people that arrives here with food, clothes and shelter is another matter entirely and for a matter of fact where did these people even come from." Barov ranted

"I truly understand your worries, but border town is in desperate need of manpower therefore everyone that arrives in border town will be welcomed as long as they are willing to swear their loyalty to me. Therefore, make sure they are properly taken care of." Roland instructed.

"Ah! If I must." Barov sighed in irritation before departing completely unaware of the deadly stare that bore into his back.

"That man sure is annoying my lord, instead of doing his job his busy criticizing your decisions. I don't understand why you put up with that man." Arnadus spoke as he appeared.

"Be that as it may he still has his uses." Ronald replied, "Its but a matter of time he will soon see things from my point of view one way or another."

'when I willed the blue screen to appear to display Carter and his men's status. The blue screen appeared without delay therefore proving that the status screen is not limited to the refugees summoned by the system. Therefore, there must be something about Barov due to which the system is not displaying his status.' Roland rubbed his forehead to relieve the headache, 'Regardless of whatever reason there might be, he will remain under suspicion until proven otherwise.'

'The people summoned by the system is more loyal as compared to the towns people. I have been worried about how to upgrade their mentality but as the system continues to produce more refugees every day along with the summoning of more and more talent every month. It is only but a matter of time before the refugee population exceeds the towns people.' Roland deliberated the future of his new kingdom, 'I still do not understand how the system completed such a miracle but the summoning of refugees from the modern magical world is truly a pleasant surprise!.'
