The Rise Of True Magic

Chapter 15 - Conscription

"The girl clearly had a different purpose for shadowing me throughout the day. But, what irritated me the most was that she didn't even bother to conceal herself. Instead, she had decided to pace beside me as if I was unaware of her presence." Roland insulted.

"If the girl had annoyed your majesty then why didn't you allow me to deal with her." Arnadus inquired.

"That would have been overkill instead I had planned to deal with her to test my current strength. But, who would have thought that the girl would be so weak." Roland mocked, "However, what she lacked she compensated for it with her superior control over her magic. Which made it difficult to judge her strength. We only managed to detect the irregularity because of the town people who couldn't see her."

"I am truly ashamed to admit that a little managed to deceive me. Even though I am a master of Space magic with plenty of experience to back it up." Arnadus glumly said.

"Things might have ended differently if the girl was aware that we could use magic. Regardless, what's done is done. Her name, favorite food, family, friends, her purpose here, I want to know everything regardless of how irrelevant the detail might be as long as its related to her I want it on my desk by noon tomorrow." Roland ordered as he left to get some sleep.

"Of course, your majesty," Arnadus replied as he sweatdropped at the Lord's behavior. 'That girl clearly hit a nerve.'

The glare of the rising sun hit the girl right on the face disturbing her rest which elicited a groan from the sleeping beauty as she pulled the blankets over her head. However, she immediately became alerted when the door opens as a maid entered the room with a tray of food.

"Good Morning Miss." The maid greeted.

"Good Morning." She replied.

"I am glad that you are up Miss. I have been tasked to deliver your breakfast by Sir Arnadus." The maid smiled at her before serving her breakfast on the bed.

"Sir Arnadus?" She inquired.

"Yes, He will visit you within the hour. If there is anything else that you may require please ring the bell as I will be right outside." The maid replied as she put a bell on the Nightstand before leaving the room.

After eating the food, she rang the bell but instead of the maid, a man entered the room.

"Oh! my, don't I appreciated and here I though I would be rotting in some cell waiting to be tortured but instead I am being treated like an honored guest. You people certainly are unpredictable. Aren't you worried that I would escape?" She gushed at her visitor before he had a chance to speak.

However, the man merely lifted an eyebrow which made girl sigh as she went back to her character, "So then what will happen to me now?" she inquired as she made her self comfortable on the bed.

"I am sorry to tell you, but you have been conscripted into the Army. Congratulations!" Arnadus chuckled.

"So, I am to serve the prince by using my magic to help him take the throne." The girl said in a flat tone.

"Now you are being arrogant." Arnadus teased.

"Oh! How so?" the girl inquired clearly interested.

"Now, now child! You will learn everything in due time, but to satisfy your curiosity. Take this room as an example, you must have tried to escape the moment you woke up but found it difficult to use your magic. Now the question that must be in your mind is how is that possible? After all, there is only one witch in this town, but she clearly has a fire ability. Therefore, either there must be another witch in his majesties service or …" Arnadus recounted the facts.

Her Silence answered more than words could describe her feeling about her situation. Regardless that still didn't answer her question. The room looked ordinary but holds a deep mystery. After all this ordinary room had restrained her magic.

"So, Should I clarify your doubts?" Arnadus jested, however, the girl was too deep in thought to notice.

Hearing Arnadus willing to answer her questions left her thrilled. The silence in the room was deafening as she waited patiently for his confirmation of her doubts. From her recent bout with the prince, she had come to different conclusions but the most ridiculous one was that the prince had used magic but that should be impossible.

Thus, she waited with bated breath and waited and waited.

Arnadus simply raised an eyebrow at her behavior but remained silent building up the suspense. However, the girl had reached the limits of her patience and was about to explode.

"So, are you going to tell me or what?" The girl impatiently demanded.

"You are in no position to demand Anything. Now be a good girl and get dressed we have a long day ahead of us. You have 10 minutes" Arnadus ordered.

"Wait!!" The girl shouted but Arnadus had already closed the door leaving her stunned. She was roused back to reality when the maid brought her fresh clothes.
