The Rise Of True Magic

Chapter 14 - Assassination? Don’t be Foolish

Giving them one last look, Roland decided to return to his office, however, he was spotted by Barov on the way who insisted to buy him dinner. In the end he had no choice but to give in to his request. After all it is too embarrassing to have a grown man cling to your leg, begging and crying his heart out.

The Dinner was far from appetizing, the hotel where they dinned only served meals fit right for the medieval Era. Another thing, he would have to fix after getting the economy back on track. Nonetheless, It was one thing for Barov to entertain him to a meal but to escort him all the way back to the town hall was another thing entirely. If only he was aware of the gates of hell that awaited him at the end of the road after all ignorance is bliss until it comes back and bits you in the a.s.s.

"That will be all then." Roland yawned as he bid him ta-ta.

"Your Majesty, there is something I wish to discuss with you." Barov hesitated as he spoke.

Halting mid-step Roland turned around looking at Barov intrigued of what he might say. Nevertheless, this was not the time to entertain his subordinates needs.

"if its not urgent we will discuss it tomorrow morning in my office." Roland stressed.

"Your Majesty…" Barov appealed but he was cut off by Roland, "That will be All."

Entering the main hall Roland made himself comfortable on the main seat reserved for him. Half an hour had passed within the blink of an eye; however, Roland had no intention of moving from his current position.

Little by little darkness began to cover every inch of the main hall until the everything has covered in darkness, however, no one arrived to call Roland for dinner or to light the torches within the hall.

The Darkness of the Night eventually gave way to the light of the Full moon. The Light of the Moon fell from the windows on top of the Hall.

The Silence of the Night was shattered without warning as the once motionless Roland who led out a sigh as he stood up and began stretching out his arms.

"You know I really admire your patience." Roland complimented, his voice echoed within the hall making him appear mentally ill to an outside observer. However, he still received no response despite waiting for a full five minutes.

"You know it was fun watching you stare at my magnificent self in admiration for so long but now it's just plain annoying." Roland hissed.

"Why are you looking around? I am speaking to you, you, stupid girl." Roland sneered as pointed at the clueless girl who still though herself to be invisible.

The girl was dumbfounded to see the prince point at her that she unconsciously raised a finger at herself as if to clarify her doubt.

"Of course, I'm talking to you, you, dumb girl. Do you see anyone else present within this hall? Besides what kind of an Assassin are you? Do you have any idea how many opportunities you have wasted? Do you think learning a little magic immediately qualifies you an Assassin?" Roland scolded the girl who was too shocked to retort.

"If I was in your place I would tried to stay out of sight regardless of whether I was invisible or not. Then I will wait for an opportunity to kill my target as quickly and silently as possible before making my escape." Roland began, "Yet, you on the other hand decided it was in your best interest to stare at your target while ignoring every opportunity to kill him. I am amazed that you managed to survive till now with that sort of mentality."

Roland ranting finally managed to infuriate the girl enough to bring her back from her dazed state. Taking out her Dagger the girl launched herself at her prey who had dared to provoke her. However, things didn't proceed the way the girl had imagined, therefore, she barely managed to register the pain her body suffered when she was kicked hard enough to put a human sized crack on the wall.

Through shear will the girl managed to pull herself to her feet, nonetheless the poor girl was clearly had her entire world turned upside down therefore it should not be to much of a surprise that she vomited a mouth full of blood as she fell on her knees.

"How is this possible? It's impossible." the girl denied hysterically.

"Oh! Not possible. Then explain to me how I did mange to see you or even better please do clarify how I managed to hurt you." Roland gloated.

However, the poor girl was clearly suffering a mental breakdown as she kept muttering in denial of the current events. Finally taking pity on her Roland waved his hand in dismissal as he sat down. The girl immediately disappeared from sight.

"They clearly must have an imbecile for a leader to send such an incompetent person to carry out the Assassination of his Majesty." Arnadus mocked their shortsightedness as he appeared besides Roland.

"Assassination? Don't be Foolish." Roland snorted.
