Chapter 21 : My fault

Being smart man, Shi Zheng knew he shouldn't offend his father now, and  understood whom he needed to appease the control the situation. "Xiaohan, it's your dad's fault. It's all because I lack the ability to express myself."

"I don't blame you," Shi Han replied, lowering her head slightly.

Shi Zheng let out a sigh of relief, grateful that his daughter still showed understanding.

"Dad will definitely make it up to you..." he began, preparing a string of apologies and promises to rectify the situation. However, just as Shi Zheng uttered those words, he heard his daughter sigh.

In that moment, a strong sense of unease gripped Shi Zheng's heart.

Shi Han rolled her eyes, a sense of loneliness evident on her face. "It's not like it's the first time anyway. I'm used to it."

"Why is this not the first time?" Mr. Shi caught onto the crucial point, his gaze fixated on Shi Zheng, and then he angrily slapped the back of Shi Zheng's head. "Tell me, did you bully Xiao Han while I was ill!"

Shi Yin and Bai Wanjun had never witnessed such a scene before, especially when Shi Zheng raised his voice so harshly. Both of them were frightened, afraid to utter a word, fearing that the Old master Shi would smack them on the head if he became displeased.

No, I really don't..." Shi Zheng held his head, unable to bear it any longer, and shouted, "Dad, if you hit me again, I'll become dumb—"

"You deserve to be dumb, your brain is useless anyway."

Though the old man scolded, he refrained from hitting him again.

It wasn't out of concern; he was simply tired.

Shi Zheng, on the other hand, grimaced in pain, holding his head like a clown, while Bai Wanjun and Shi Yin cowered like quails.

How amusing it was!

Shi Han laughed without hesitation. Her laughter was clear and bright, perhaps stemming from genuine happiness. Her beautiful face radiated a vibrant glow, captivating everyone's attention.

But this kind of smile seemed out of place, drawing the gaze of nearly everyone in the room towards Shi Han.

Shi Han observed everyone's reactions, and instead of stopping, she laughed even more openly.

She grew weary of standing and pulled her suitcase, making her way to the nearby sofa. From there, she continued to gaze at the people before her with a smile.

Her eyes held a haughty look, as if she were watching a troupe of clowns engaging in slapstick, playing tricks on everyone.

It was easy to stir up the anger of those around her.

Shi Yin's eyes flickered, and she shrunk back like a little rabbit, asking, "Sister, what are you laughing at?"

"I'm happy!" Shi Han raised her eyebrows without restraining herself in the slightest.

Shi Yin's provocation was evident, but Shi Han paid no mind. She was different from Shi Yin; she didn't need to rely on anyone.

As she had anticipated, Shi Han's words successfully ignited the anger of Bai Wanjun and Shi Zheng, acting as a fuse.

It was just that the two of them didn't dare to utter a word, silently observing Mr. Shi.

Should they be angry now? It was unbearable for anyone.

Shi Han, too, was prepared to get angry while waiting. It would be better to have a falling out. Then Old master Shi wouldn't show Shi Han any favouritism.

"Why did you laugh just now?" Shi Bei asked, wearing a serious expression.

Here it came...

Now the old man was getting angry.

Bai Wanjun's expression wavered, uncertain whether to feel happy or angry.

She was really ignorant, even daring to offend the old man. How could she have given birth to such an unfilial daughter?

It would be better for Yin Yin. When Mr. Shi completely despises Shi Han, she must create an opportunity to elevate Shi Yin.

She listened attentively.

"He bullied me, and I'm delighted when you hit him," Shi Han said, leaning lazily on the sofa, adopting a casual posture.

She awaited the anticipated accusations.

"Don't lie down like that. It's not good for your waist, and as you get older, your cervical spine will start hurting."

"..."

Seeing that Shi Han didn't change her posture, the old man couldn't help but step forward, fetching a soft pillow and placing it behind her.

(Grandpa is best family!)

Shi Han leaned against the soft pillow, her face displaying a blank expression, once again unsure of how to react to the display of concern.
