[Dear Lanni, Vile creatures disguise themselves as good people and cling onto you. I'm sorry that I cannot reveal my identity for now but I hope you trust me. Since you lost your memory, I'm indebted to tell you this. Your childhood friend is a pretender.]

Childhood friend? Her mother had mentioned that she and Ji Feifei were childhood friends. Was the note talking about her?

If she looked at Ji Feifei right now, she would realize that the latter's face had become very pale. She had opened the note without hiding it and Ji Feifei had taken a peek.

"Lanni..." she laughed. "Do you remember how when we were a little younger, many people would want to drive a wedge between us? You recieved similar notes."

"Really?" Li Lanni laughed too. She did not remember anything of the sort. It did not even feel familiar.

Ji Feifei continued chattering on. "Yes. You know Lanni, everyone is so jealous of you. You are so beautiful, have good grades and your mother is so rich. Consequently, they are very jealous of me for being your best friend."

Li Lanni thought about something else. "Talking of which, I'm so bored at home. I want to go back to school."

Ji Feifei clung onto her arm. "Of course you will. But can you really go with your current circ.u.mstances? You should go when you can remember many things. Or else how would you learn?"

Li Lanni felt she was right. It would not make any sense if she went to school and couldn't recall most things. How would she even cope?

"Then, Feifei, I'll go look for my mum to chat a bit."

Ji Feifei did not find it strange. With Li Lanni's personality, it was even quite surprising that she had stayed with her that long before looking for her mother. She was completely a mommy's little sweetheart.

She hugged Li Lanni and wanted to use the chance to sneakily take away the note but Li Lanni got to it first. She could only leave with gritted teeth.

Just a few hours later, Li Lanni noticed something that was coincidentally the main reason why Ji Feifei wanted to steal the note. While she was looking through her books, she noticed that her handwriting and that on the note....were at least 80% similar!

She definitely did not write it. How strange...was there someone from her class with a similar handwriting?

Apparently, that was the same thing Ji Feifei was thinking. She wanted to know if it was written by someone from their class. The person cleverly did not use text or email because that could be tracked.

For a reason she did not understand, Li Lanni kept the note safely and looked for her diary.

___

With great care from her mother and Ji Feifei, Li Lanni's health had improved greatly just within a month. Her mother would cook nutritous food for her while Ji Feifei would walk her around the city, and both of them would tell her things about her past.

It was worth noting, however, that Ji Feifei would only look for Li Lanni when Li Yuming was not at home. Lanni did not realize this and only thought that her friend cared about her and spent time with her when she was bored.

On a saturday morning, a very bright and cheerful Ji Feifei ran all the way into Li Lanni's room. "Lanni! I have the best.news.ever!"

"What is it?"

"I told our classmates that you are in good health now, so they decided to throw a party to welcome you back. Although we may not be able to be in the same class anymore, we are still your friends so you cannot say no."

Li Lanni was not exactly in the mood to party. However, she really wanted to meet people she knew. "I'll think about it." she smiled.

If it would help her remember something, it was worth a try. Thinking about it, she found it boring that her diary was extremely meaningless. She had not found even the slightest information in it. Not even her daily schedule. Was she very secretive before losing her memory? She had also been bought a new phone and had none of her former contacts. She would really need to meet her friends anew.

In the evening, Li Lanni chose a very simple and conservative black dress.

After taking a bath, she changed into it and wore matching high heels. She did not wear any make up- aside from the fact that she did not like it, her face really did not need it.

Her skin was already youthful and flawless and a part from the birthmark in the middle of her back, she had no other mark on her body.

She told her mother about the party and called Ji Feifei to pick her up.
